Diablo 3: Diablo III: Auction House to Utilize PayPal

Blizzard has announced its partnership with PayPal to enable players to purchase items in the Diablo III auction house.
For those who've been living under a rock, the Diablo III auction house will feature items for sale for both in-game gold and for real world cash.
According to Blizzard, the PayPal option will "be available in most regions".

I can pretty much write this game off now.
PayPal is the devil. I do a ton of eBaying and know a lot about it. PayPal is a worthless outsourcing pile of ####.

It's an option so if you don't want to use it, then don't.
I'm just wondering if you list an item for a fee, and it doesn't sell if you're just out the money then. Seems like an easy way for blizzard to make massive cash off Diablo 3 players without much benifit to the game. That's what I'm concerned about, more than them adding options for its playerbase, lol.
Well you don't have to use the auction house and there will be items for sale for in game gold too. Personally, I find finding the items the best part of the game.
The biggest problem with Diablo II was the ninja looting.
That won't really be a problem anymore, as items dropped will be different for each player. For example, if Duriel is slain, he might drop a sword for Player A, yet a bow for Player B.
This should be interesting as PAYPAL does not offer buyer/seller protection on virtual sales ....
It won't bother me if they have a server that's against buying items..
The ultimate problem is that "weeked warriors" will be able to hang with players who spent far more time due to the option to purchase items.
MMOs have turned into forms of virtual socialism.
PayPal will be used to 'Cash Out' of your account. You won't actually be buying stuff with PayPal like you do on eBay.
You'll put money into a Blizzard account, where you can pay for subscriptions, buy games or buy stuff from other D3 players using the auction house. If you make more money than you spend, you can convert money from your Blizzard account to some other account...in this case your PayPal account which would put money into your checking account.

as a weekend warrior I find that completely acceptable. Sorry I dont have the time my 13 year old son does to grind for 70 hours a week but I got the wallet to keep up with him.
more like people care way too much about how others play the game. after all how does Joe casual buying his gear off the auction house affect your fun in anyway?
did you have fun playing through the dungeons and obtaining that gear ... that should be the only question when talking about gear. if the answer is yes then the game did its job if the answer is no then find another game.
if you are playing these game for fulfillment or some sort of status symbol then sorry but go out and get a life.
Lol, paypal... righhtt.. the oldest (more or less) but slowest digital bank in the world that offers no protection for buyer at all and is known for their double standards and more dubious handling of donations toward anti-goverment movements.
these account designers in the game industrie are still living in the late 90's .. ... so many way faster,more secure and world wide accepted/useable systems out there..
Umm. It makes a big deal when your fighting against them.
You have the buyer/seller protection thing backwards. They offer no protection for the seller. The buyer complains and the money is refunded. The seller is simply out the money.
It would be surprising if this were the only method to cash out of the auction house. Blizzard already accepts direct payments for their goods using credit cards; they have the infrastructure to credit payments out directly to checking accounts using the same systems.

Looks like we are talking a few routes for the finance of the Blizzard cash auction houses. We are talking the usual credit card routes...American Express will probably do nicely. Next we are probably talkin Blizard bucks...some form of game card for those who choose not use credit cards. Finally PayPal...well I just reckon they are throwing Ebay a line since they have handled so many unofficial Blizzard item currecny transactions in the past. Yes,the suits who run Blizzard are once again proving that the depths of MMORPG commercialisation have not be truely reached yet.
Eladi, Paypal is one of the most used and recognizable forms of online payment systems. Also, as it's been said already. This will be more of a way to convert your cash over to Paypal or adding currency from a Paypal account to Blizzards system. I can really only name about 3 different online payment systems that are widley used, with Paypal being the top. And I shop pretty much everywhere.

To the poster wondering what happens when your item doesn't sell: Blizzard still takes their cut regardless of if you sell.

Doesn't matter. If you're a seller, your funds come from Blizzard, not from some kid who stole their parent's credit card. If you're a buyer, your funds are processed by Blizzard, NOT paypal. Blizzard is the entity that will be providing the buyer/seller protection.

How pathetic. Never forget that time is just as unbalancing as money. Whether you play 40 hours a week or spend a hundred bucks a week, either action is just as inbalancing to the player who plays 15 hours a week. Until the day that everyone is forced to play for the exact same time, any anti-rmt arguments are meaningless.
