My friend and I have been arguing about which game started into development first, Everquest 2, or World of Warcraft, and what i mean is, when they first started working on the game, does anybody know which game was in development longer? Thanks

Cannot say for certain, of course, But WoW was announced at ECTS of 2001 while Everquest 2 was announced one year later, in 2002.

they started making it when shadows of luclin came out which was 2001, so they were right about the same time. doesnt really make a difference though i guess, but i would say they are tied.

First plans and designs for the developpment, most certainly EQ2.  Verant have the first ideas and draws before doing Kunark, they choose an expension after some thinking, but they did consider EQ2 no matter how unseriously some will say it was...not even sure Diablo II was out!  (the first plans back to pre-Kunark would be droolicious to read however to see how far from them the result is)

First to have actual serious work into it, most certainly WoW, Blizzard is working a lot slower(and better some would say) then SoE, while SoE work fast with big implants and rush, Blizzard progress more slowly, at a regular pace.

Definately both are as close to twins as possible

and both are good but with WOW looking better than EQ2 ....at least in the short run so far.
