Rift, Conan, Lotro, Eq2
Have not tried Rift or AOC, but both LOTRO and EQ2 are decent games.
Both have been out for a while, and have had several expansions, no idea on LOTRO if you can still find a deal for all of the expansions and free month, or even if it is needed since they went F2P.
On EQ2 i would suggest that you wait till you find such a deal, a bundle of all expansions along with the free month, or even a Download deal to get everything.
Most people think of DAoC primarily as a pvp/rvr game and because of that they poohpooh the PvE in it, but as far as I'm concerned it had the best PvE.
I've come back to it after taking years off and still enjoy playing it, but I avoid RvR like the plague.
EQ2 expansions all come with ALL the game's expansions on them. When you buy one you get them all. So really all you need is the base game and the LATEST expansion to have it all. Very inexpensive. You need the base game and Sentinel's Fate expansion. You can buy it digitally from SoE, or on Amazon if you want discs. They might even have discs on Direct2Drive.
EDIT: When I said Sentinel's Fate....I might be one expansion behind, actually. I think there's one newer one.

Out of all of the games listed above, the one that is LEAST like WoW and most solo-friendly is Age of Conan.
If you want us to be able to help you better, you're going to need to be more specific on what about WoW really turns you off.
Give Vanguard a try

Going out into the woods with a a stick. Seriously. MMOs all suck right now.
Well I was going to say WoW untill you mentioned #4 So my second choice has to go to Tera, the pve is outstanding and it can be soloed (I'm lvl50 doing mostly solo stuff, been playing for about 6 weeks now. work limits my playing hours like you).
Velika: City of Wheels: Among the mortal races, the humans were the only one that never built cities or great empires; a curse laid upon them by their creator, Gidd, forced them to wander as nomads for twenty centuries...

Final Fantasy 11.
Just go get it, you won't regret it.
another great suggestion, though im not sure about soloability. however, the japanese community is on at 'odd' hours for us in the US. so that may help.

I do think WoW is the best pve right now.
LOTRO is also really fun, if you find a good guild or group of friends to play with.
EQ2 I couldn't get into, but from what I hear it has decent pve
FFXI is awesome, but go into it with some friends. Last I played it, it's pretty brutal on newcomers.
I'm going to go out on a limb and throw a curveball suggestion with Asheron's Call. Dated graphics, awkward UI, but some of the quests are deep, immersive, and just good plain fun.

LotRO is ultra-solo friendly and most of the servers have decent populations evenings. Plus, since RoI is coming out, the servers are really gonna be hopping starting September 27.

Was going to say FFXI then I seen (solo, and quest galore). Though the game has become more solo friendly but quests will give you 0 exp though they do have books in each zone that I guess could be considered a quest that you kill x amount of mobs rewards exp gil and tabs used for buffs.
One that's F2P and heavy on questing is Aika. It's non-stop quest progression and has a unique albeit cute companion system.
