what to play.. help me out

little background, started really playing them with Everquest. Then moved on to DAoC thought it improved on everything EQ had to offer. I still really like DAoC but we all know the problems there so I don't want to go back.

I had stopped playing for about a year but now I have a new computer and some free time on my hands and want back in.

Just bought City of Heroes and got EVE online.  Problem with CoH I already stopped playing after a week, I really like the gameplay and skills and all but I think the main reason I can't see myself playing it is NO ITEMS. ok so there are items but nothing to equip my character with to make him look badass/cool no great items to look forward to in the future, etc

I never knew how important items could be to my game playing experiance until now.

next EVE addicting, alot of room to grow, tons of things to do, VERY different from what I am used to.(fantasy to spaceships) Problems I am seeing? VERY SLOW, have spent the last couple days just mining ore going back and forth(not fun) and community seems ehhh...

I wanted to get WoW first off, seems like everything I wanted from a MMorpg but it seems that is a no go since they arn't selling it now!

So with all that any ideas? I was thinging maybe EQ2 or does it sound like I should wait for WoW to sell again, or are there any other games to download out there that I should try to tide me over?

btw have also tried Anarchy awhile back and shadowbane when it first came out. And even thou I was a fan of DAoC pvp it is not that important to me and games that are primarily pvp (aka shadowbane) are not my thing.

If you like tough games try saga of ryzom. 14 day free trial. www.ryzom.com It has multiclassing and you can customize spells and abilities. It's not a game thats going to hold your hand and your not going to max levels in a month. It will take you several months to see most of the map. It's also got great graphics comparable to eq2 i think better actually. It's well designed with very few bugs, ld's and client crashes. I've yet to suffer a client crash or ld.

I think you can order WoW but theyre just not shipping it to the stores. maybe you can get it from amazon or ebgames or somewhere. I might be wrong, but seems like i heard that.

They are not selling any additional copies until they can fix the server issues they are having.  It'll probably last another week.  If you really really really, and I stress really need a copy, then buy it off ebay for like $100.  It'll still be better than wasting your time and money on EQ2.

If you care at all about the quality of the community you're playing with, avoid WoW like the plague.

I don't know whether it's all the hype, or the association with Blizzard bringing in the battle.net kiddies, or what, but WoW has the rudest, most childish, most unskilled community that I've ever dealt with in an MMORPG. And that's saying a lot, since I played Shadowbane.

eve's community is more mature than most demograpicaly, and I would add that once u get out of  the new player areas and get to know the veterans there is a great player base of helpful fun people.  give me shout any time you want to see more of the game. check sig for details.

If you still want to play WoW, I just saw 3 boxes with the game in Portland's EB Games store. I am quite sure you can still find some if you look in local stores (not online)...

Well I wouldn't buy EQ2 since it isn't very good in my opinion.
Problem I see is the crafting as it is now, it was a funny idea but it get's even more boring then in other games.
Other problem is the trading, I just don't like it.

Xp grind is ok but they spent to much time on the questing and too little time on balancing the entire game making it more fun to play.
The quests looks all the same and there isn't a really good story in it.

WoW looks very promising and I played the final beta of US, but like any other games this game has it own problems too.
Like you mentioned the server problems, they sold a lot of copys but can't handle it and it will make people leave.

Other problem is the grind, cause there simply isn't any grind, if you see lvl 60 chars within 2 weeks then you done something seriously wrong in my opinion.

This can ofcourse been solved very quickly with future expansions cause you simply make the lvling a lot harder from lvl 60.
Other problem is that the lvl 60 are very bored at the moment cause there isn't anything fun behind lvl 60 as it is now or you want to fight Onyxia or whatever it is called.

Personally I think you can never be happy with any game and most will get bored after a couple of month or it need to have really good content.
