That 300 million number was proven to be grossly innaccurate quite some time ago.

even if its 100 million it's quite a waste of money,

Pointless thread unless the OP is actually hoping (in such an obvious way) for flames.

If you couldn't tell from early videos that the graphical style was... erm... different to put it kindly, then I have nothing for you.

Still, it's story that the game is going to most shine under - not noodle clap.

people don't give a fudge about story in mmo's they want big shinies..we all know that.

Astory can only last so long until it turns into a gear grind.

I disagree one of the reasons I played WoW and no other MMO for extesive periods of time was because I enjoyed the story and lore.

Don't be daft man just because you don't see it as money well spent let's not talk as if they aren't going to turn a profit on the game.  Ok I think most of the gams fans are willing to admit there may be even up to 1 million of you who think this way but does that really matter to those of us who are eagerly anticipating the game??? Not one bit why not do yourselves a favor and just find something that does seem to interest you instead of trolling a game that holds no interest for you.

Why is he clapping like that?  That doesnt even make sense.......

And its the most exaggerated clapping motion Ive ever seen.  I clap sometimes.  But I dont put my arms all the way out at my sids and bring my hands together over and over when I do it either.

But again.....why?  Why is he clapping like that?  I dont get it.  I assume he's clapping because of the heros walking up as if to congratulate them, but he's doing it long before they even enter range.  Does he have something wrong with him?

    Maybe.....he's special or something.

Graphics/art style is the least important aspect of a game for me. TOR could be on ASCII style and I wouldn't care. Gameplay, balance, polish, hell, even music is more important than graphics. Besides, who wants to be constantly updating their graphics card? One of the reason I loved WoW is because I could run it at 30 fps on a 2003 integrated chipset.

Sounds good in theory but to be honest 90% of gamers don't even read the quest text let alone care about story. It all sounds good on paper but once people start playing they will get sick of all the cut scenes and will be left with a shallow mmorpg with horrid graphics and typical WOW style gear grind.

I tried so so hard to convince myself that TOR would be good but as launch gets closer and closer it's evident that we will get another shallow AAA title to play for a month and unsub.

Interesting. The OP doesnt really claim/ask something. The vid doesnt really show anything. His greatly exaggerated number for SWTOR funding and his 'really?' obviously shows that he wont like SWTOR.

He doesnt explain us why though. So the OP doesnt start a discussion, but just shows his distaste for SWTOR. Some of you just start to assume what his problem is with SWTOR or start argueing with some other hater. So, clearly this thread is created to incite flaming.

Wow has no more story than any other mmo, if anything lotro has the best story.

Given the context it looks like an exagerated clap intended to display sarcasm.

if that's the case you should be playing old school mmo's because they are better games.

you're just going to have to deal with other people having different opinions, or you could be a child and call people haters who don't share the same opinion.

WoW is more familar then LOTRO to me, I know next to nothing about LOTRO outside of the movies and seeing how LOTRO follows the books more then to movies I passed on it.

You know what I do when I hate a game?

Post in that games forum section...

Your answer kind of proves his second point though....a story only lasts so long until it becomes a gear grind.  I can't really think of a better description of WoW and the story to gear grind ratio of that game.  I too played WoW loving the story for six years, but then one day it miraculously occured to me that the game was really a glorified gear grind and that it HAD BEEN for YEARS.

I do agree with you that, at least for me, it's more about story than shinies.  That is unless I'm playing EQ2 and then I'm OBSESSED with shinies which you pick up off the ground and they are parts of collections.  Love my shinies!

SWTOR, for all the development money spent on it, is going to be amazing whether you like it or not and whether you play it or not. It's going to be something very special.

Where are you getting your percent from most gamers I know in fact read the quest text or more importantly are familiar with the story they are engaging in where I know a problem to begin is in repeating said content.

I'm sure there are alot of players who don't even worry about the quest text but most people I've gamed with somehow someway know the story they are involved in so I don't know if your numbers are even close to the mark.

Further doesn't this leave open the chance that maybe the reason even many of those have tuned out the quests is because of the unchanging nature of them you go talk to some farmer who is sending you to kill ten bears does it take much to assume that as a farmer he isn't able to kill them himself therefore he's asking anyone with a sword to do it?

From what we know of TOR what has stood in for questing in mmorpg's up to this point are tasks for TOR so you won't be talking to people to find out why they want you to kill ten bears you just kill ten of them on your way to your story driven quest.

Even though I still do pay attention to the story given in all games I play this still stands out as refreshing enough for me to think it might interest me in being aware of the story being told to me again.

Minecraft proves your point quite well in regards to what ppl want graphically from a game.

As for the cost of the game that a few have mentioned, so long as the game turns a profit for the makers, the cost of it is unimportant, it doesn't affect us one way or the other, the monthly fee is the same as what I paid for WoW, so the millions spent aren't going to impact what I have to fork out each month.

And yes I'm looking forward to a game with a decent involving story for a change, I have no problem with everyone else wanting to rush around like headless chickens trying to hit max lvl in the first week, I won't be buying into the same old crap "must grind every lvl at top speed to get to the end game" philosophy, I wish to enjoy the game at my usual strady pace.
