I was just wonderin if you could 2 different types of RAM e.g
Kingston 512mb pc2700 and corsair 512mb pc2700 or
kingston 512mb pc2700 and kingston 512mb pc3200

Short answer, YES.
With a few exeptions RAM of the same type of technolegy be it DDR, DDR2, RDRAM, PC100... work together .. but not across tech types.
e.g. PC 100 and PC133 will work fine together... and DDR 2700 and 3200 will work fine... but not a DDR type and a PC type. Get it?
But remember, the mismatched ram will perform at the rate of the lowest rated of the 2 ram types you have installed.
Basically, if you have 2 sticks of memory that fit in the slots in your motherboard, put them in and power up... you wont fry anything..... . Watch the memory check as the system boots up and see if it counts ALL the installed memory. Then use it for a couple of days to see if its stable.
In the 'old days' we has to worry about different memory types that had the same connections ... and worse manual jumper settings on the motherboards . But in these days of plug and prey, you do just that .

yes tomo they will work together, two different companies should work fine (mine does)
but if you use pc2700 and pc 3200 it would underclock the the pc3200 ram to pc2700... so it would be kind of useless to buy the pc 3200 unless your gonna just get a gig of it and change it out.
My appearence... FAT, OLD, AND HAIRY!
You can have say a 2100 and a 2700, but the ram modules will run at the lowest speed, which is 2100.
what he means hairydwarf is that the old ram was called sdram (single data rate) not "pc" and the new(er) ram is called ddr (double data rate) or ddr2. the pc part has no bearing on it, but you need to get the numbers and types matched or it will run at the speed of the slowest ram you have installed. so esentially a pc 2100 ddr would work with a stick of pc 3200 drr, but it would run at the speed of pc 2100. what he meant by the other types were the pc100-pc133 sdram would not work with ddr, or ddr and ddr2 will not work together because for one they require a different type of slot. anyway, just but the same kind of ram you have and you will be safe.
after reading this thread i found out one stick i had was ddr333 when the rest are 400 dual channel. which means i had two 3200 dual channel and one 2700, so my question is, well, i got a centon dual 512mb ddr 3200 dual channel pack of ram and i added it and left my other centon stick of 512 in to get 1.5 gigs, but i was wondering is 3200 dual channel not going to have its full potential or is that extra 512 going to bog it down
i guess what i am asking is " is that extra 512 better in or out being a 2700 and the other 2 being dual channel 512s 3200?"
its hard to tell sidebuster, but yes the dual channel ram will be running at the speed of the 2700. the impact it has on the speed could be very insignificant, i would say just leave it in or you can take it out and see if it improves the speed, then put it back in if you dont notice a difference.

... think all you need to maxamize high-end gpu usage is 1GB DDR400 and a 2.8GHz cpu ? read and learn ...
