I can decide between Asheron's Call 2 and World of Warcraft. I used to be an avid Asherons Call player. Yet I have heard so much about WOW that I want to get it. I am stuck, please help.

I've played all three of the games you mentioned, and of the three, AC1 is my favorite. AC2 really isn't very much like AC1 at all, and if you play it, you'll probably find yourself disappointed. Unlike AC1, there really aren't very many character customization options, there's not much of an economy, and overall I think the game is dying simply because it's not that great of a game, and there's a lot of competition for MMOs nowadays.
WoW is pretty good, but it's a very differrent kind of game as well. It's more like Everquest than AC, only with a little more polish and humor. The game itself is decent, even if it's not terribly original. The community is pretty poor, however, and it seems like you spend most of your time playing solo. Also it seems a little bit geared toward younger players, as some of the NPCs (goblins in Ratchet, for example) are just plain silly.
If you don't mind me making suggestions, you might want to try FFXI or Tantra. FFXI is a very good game, and personally I found it to be more fun than WoW. It has a decent community and a wonderful economy, and is overall a very deep and interesting game. The only downside is that it takes forever to level and it's almost impossible to solo, except for a few classes, and even then you're generally better off in a group for XPing.
Tantra is in open beta right now, so you can play free until it's released. It's not as deep as FFXI or anything, but I find it to be more fun than WoW or AC2. In any case, it's more original than most MMOs, so if you don't mind something a little different I'd give it a try.
AC2 is an utter insult to the AC name.
Out of the 2 WoW wins hands down.
Ok so I have determined that AC2 is not at all like AC. So my next question with MMOPRG's is what is the most current, yet has people onine and playing, game that is like AC. I want to be able to play a kickass game like AC.
WoW hands down all that needs to be said

You mention you used to play AC1. So this thread should be "AC or WoW".
Every single MMORPG out right now is better than AC2, including WoW. AC1 is better than AC2. Even all the free mmorpgs are better than AC2! Do you want to invest your time on the sinking ship AC2? Or invest your time on the brand new ship WoW which is not sinking?
The main reason why AC2 is not worth it is because it is an unofficially d-e-a-d game. It does not matter if one likes it or dislikes it - it is still a dead game. And the hardcore facts back this fact up. AC2 is among the newest, 4th generation, MMORPGs. It cost roughly 15 million to 25 million to make. It peaked at 50k subscribers. it now has roughly 6k to 12k total subscribers. If you still want to consider AC2, at least play it for free. It is still free to download and try out.
There are gamers who still claim they like AC2 and are having fun in it - even though it is unofficially dead. There is no problem with anyone who claims they like AC2 - just do not claim to be surprised and shocked when it is officially put out of its misery.
Right now the profits from AC1 are being used to keep AC2 on lifesupport.
AC2 was a pretty cool game for serveral months. However, I would go with a newer game now that AC2 has such a low pop. So I guess, WoW.
EQ made enough profits to pay for the "million EQ expansions" + make SWG + make PS + make EQ2.
AC has made enough profits pay for 1 mmorpg AC2. Some servers in AC2 have a peak time load of 300 total players! Even if 2 people were left playing AC2, there is enough profits from AC1 to pay for it. Hence why AC2 is "unofficially" dead. 100 new expansions could be released for AC2... it still does not mean the game is successful. Or is even alive. It has still failed to re-coup all its investment money. It currently is still getting its a-- kicked by every single MMORPG out - the old ancient ones, as well as the brand new ones.
I would suggest Asheron's Call 2, and before the naysayers start in (holds up a hand) let me begin by stating one word: IMPACT.
In a game like WOW, with literally hundreds of thousands of other players, you may never see yourself transforming into an "important character." By "important character", I mean the travelling sage or wizard or knight of fantasy literature who is looked up to by all of the other players on your server, at least the lower level ones. If you want to be an imposing figure, you're simply going to have to find a game with a low subscriber population. This will allow you to stand out and hopefully be appreciated, noted even, by your gaming peers on the server you play on.
So, play WOW and you may just be another orange-haired dwarf, one of many non-descript characters. Play something like Asheron's Call 2 and you may establish "IMPACT" and become a noteworthy and important character in your game world. Just my two coppers; something to think about.

Wow good points on WoW and AC2, but the fact is AC2 doesnt exist.
I have played AC2 and ammused myself for 2 periods. The first period was around 3-4 months and the second around 4-6 months. Have to say the game has its positive points but also a lot of negative ones. The most negative ones are:
- Some classes can't be played due to technical difficulties, especially pet classes.
- You have to much level ranges that you can't do much expect grinding away and redoing quests. This can get boring and repetative.
The good points:
+ I liked the gameplay.
+ Also the graphics I didn't found a to big probelm and where quite nice in my eyes.
Also playing wow at the moment (as you can see in my sig )
Bad points:
- Community: the community is something that is the worst I met in a game I ever played. The horde side is a bit better then the alliance side. So horde side is doable.
- Grouping gets punishement on lots of stuff like hunting, doing some sort of quests.
- To little character customizing.
Good points:
+ also like the cartoon graphics, and the detail isn't that bad
+ you have a lot of quest you can do and questing brings in levels much faster then hunting. So you won't be bored when online.
+ have to say I like the craftsystem, it isn't so boring like in some other games.
Also want to bring in the expansion for AC2, wich is realy looking nice and I know a lot of my friends that quited AC2. Have reactivated their accounts, and are awaiting the expansion pack what realy looks nice. It also tempted me to reactivate, but I'm playing WoW right now next to Eve Online. A third would be to much time comsuming
These are my feelings, others may say AC2 sucks and so, but it just like other games out there. AC2 wasn't realy a success ever and is most unknown to most people as well.
