In a quote from Talwin:
20:56 [AQ]Darran its less populated than 4 months ago
20:57 [LM]Talwin That's not true. There may be less groups of armored players in vocal guilds running around, but the population has grown since Dawn.
The population of the game is going up, more guilds are popping up, and more players from more places are coming to the game. In my own guild, which I recently joined, there has been a massive increase in trial players (all have subbed, as well) in the past few weeks. The game is gaining more and more popularity as it is becoming more polished and gaining new content!

Are you claiming that a blurb from a volunteer moderator who runs the main MO fansite has some sort of validity?
Honestly.. I can spend 5 minutes and dig up similar claims (by different people who also have only a handful of posts) which span back to release. Yet each time the financial reports come out we have proof that the subs are small and the game is hemmoraging money...
All time classic MY NEW FAVORITE POST! (Keep laying those bricks)

Are you honestly trying to claim that the Lead Moderator and one of the most well-informed person who isn't on SV's payroll is pulling something out of his anus? Because he's not and never has. He has direct contact with the people who have access to such information. Please, have something to actually base your argument on other than that you are angry about something.
LOL- This is like Deja Vu.
I heard this since the begining, after every Patch(especially the Epic Patch- both 1st and 2nd Epic Patch), the expansion yeilded "tons of new and returning players" and now (apparently) the pop is continuing to rise.
Hell, at this rate MO will surpass WOW in numbers as each patch keeps bringing in this plethora of new blood.
Show facts that prove you are correct then, without a doubt.
You have the gall to tell Slap to base his argument on something other than being angry, when your entire argument is based on nothing more than hearsay.
Slapshot1188 pointed to the game company's revenue earnings reports. That's about as conclusive as you can get without seeing exactly how many subs are actually there. SV's earnings continue to drop, which would not be the case if they were getting more subscribers.
It's entirely possible that they are getting new subscribers, but losing existing subscribers, which would make statements about new people joining up entirely accurate.

Yes, a direct quote to a guy who has access to server information is hearsay. I see now. Then... every single post that you all make is hearsay! Even if Henrik posted it! Oh my god, I see now. You've all been going on hearsay all this time, NO WONDER YOU'RE ALL SO MAD!

Technically, it is hearsay. You're telling us something that somebody else said.

LOL- Henrick and others with "access to server info" have blamed a freaking Volcano, lied again and again (You know how you can tell if henrick is lying? His lips are moving- Or hes typing something) and have shown again and again that they cannot be trusted to even properly implement basic systems that work.
The stock value doesnt plummet if the pop has been steadily rising (as has been claimed since the first patch)
It is the very definition of hearsay:
"Information gathered by one person from another person concerning some event, condition, or thing of which the first person had no direct experience"
I am not angry about anything, I doubt any of the other posters are either.
That's what I said. By your guys' definition, all that you say is just hearsay.
"unverified, unofficial information gained or acquired from another and not part of one's direct knowledge."
Ummmmm. Please explain why the stock is dropping to its knees faster than a Phillipino Whore if the pop has been rising since the begining (as has been claimed again and again).
Would you be so kind as to link me to the last stock report?

StarVault's earnings reports can be considered objective information, available to anyone. That information is not hearsay.
If you were a server manager, and you gave us a chart of subscription numbers dating back a month or so, that would not be hearsay either because you'd be giving us information on what you knew, not what someone else told you they knew.
Mortal Online's history has incidents of people saying that subs were going up, the game was improving, etc., but when the earnings reports came out, it was shown to not be true. Similar statements were made about actual subscription numbers, and the earning statements showed that the subscription numbers mentioned would be impossible given SV's income.
A lot of games might get the benefit of the doubt on these forums, but Mortal Online isn't one of them.

Comical.
The majority of the information I read on this site, and as a result comment on primarily, comes right from the mouth of the developer. I don't believe in third party information, it simply isn't reliable.
I prefer facts, of which you have provided none. Show some actual numbers from a source within the company proving that the pop is rising and I will gladly smother my hat in ketchup and sit down for a meal.
As it stands now, the actual numbers that have been revealed through the Earning's Report prove the exact opposite.

Yes Sir I will.
You need to understand that I (we) believe that you were told the pop is rising. Problem is that they have been saying this all along even as they bleed out money every month.
Exactly.
I dunno, their stock is at a three month high of about 4.75 U.S. cents. It's up from apparently 0 about a week or two ago. Maybe they did sign up more people than they lost in the last couple of weeks.

i agree that the population has indeed risen over the past few weeks, the number of people looking for a guild, introducing themselves on the forums, forum activity and population ingame does seem higher than a month ago. Although it really did bottom out a month ago and could only really increase. I think its more of a case of new players trying out the game with the end of swg and the recent territory control video as opposed to veterans returning. However i beleive that quite a few people will once again return to try out the new TC update once it releases and the pop and subs will once again go up. If it will simply be a spike or have any lasting appeal we will see.
there are 2 types of mmo, imitators and innovaters.
You mean .046 USD right??? Not even a penny.

Death, I really respect what you have to say (even when I dont agree).
You are a supporter of this game and I am not (obviously) but you are truthful and honest in what you say. Our opinions may differ but you can have an honest discussion/debate.

0.046 USD (U.S. Dollars) is 4.6 cents.

Wait a couple months and then see if all of those trial subs remain. My bet is that they will fall off along with some more vets.
Unless SV posts subscription numbers, any talk of increasing/decreasing population is speculation and opinion. Since SV has not done so, that is all we have to go by. However, the preponderance of the anecdotal evidence (forums posts, trial players’ experiences, and people currently playing) seems to support the idea that the population is very small. When one looks at the company’s financial statements, more indirect evidence is found to support such a notion.
As far as to the OP’s confusion of what hearsay evidence means; I hope the following legal definition helps:
HEARSAY EVIDENCE: The evidence of those who relate, not what they know themselves, but what they have heard from others.
Doesn't get much clearer than that...
A man is his own easiest dupe, for what he wishes to be true he generally believes to be true...

Seems rather odd that an account that was created in 2007 and never posted once in 5 years (07,08,09,10,11) suddenly springs to life and posts 13 times singing the praises of MO all in the same day. Rather odd indeed...
