There was a thread about this a while ago. Someone said VGChartz are just looking at US third party selling points or something. Not the rest of the world and digital preorders through Origin. But I might be off.

Warhammer was published by EA..  EA already said TOR had the highest preorders of ANY EA title ever...  I would suspect a large amount of preorders are missing somewhere.

Thats because EA is limiting the distribution right to origin and certain outlet like amazon only...even steam is out on this. That is why it's not available in world wide section

That's amazing.  I knew it was hyped, but had no idea it sold so well.

How does that chart work out numbers? Is it just in the Americas or is it worldwide pre-orders? Does it include the digital version pre-ordered through Origin? Unless EA announce the number it's just speculation I'm sure numbers will rise sharply come the Christmas season.

    Typical marketing ploy.

    1) They could mean biggest digital preorder (WAR is all retail preorder according to article)

    2) Biggest preorder this year?

    3) BF3 outnumber ToR preorder almost 2:1

ToR is still a few month away so i expect the final figure to be around 1mil.

Good point with the christmas season

Either give good argument like this 1 or send me a preorder to boost the sales ^^

Really is tough to say when you don't have all the number... isn't it?  How many preordered the digital deluxe from origin?  I bought one copy for myself and 2 as gifts for the holiday season... all from origin....  CE sold out on origin... what was the CE cap there?   Do we know any of this?

In that sense they could also mean the biggest preorder made by people with beards while wearing red t-shirts between 7 and 9 AM before they brushed their teeth that day.

    Anyway, the actual quote:

"It's about...the largest number we've done at EA in comparison to other titles. The next closest title is Battlefield 3, and it was up significantly from there."

Make of it what you will.

    Er....BF3 not sold on origin?

Should i take your personal word over a professional data tracking site? er....should i?

Buy a copy for me....then u can tell people that "I bought one copy for myself and 3 as gifts for the holiday season... all from origin"

The mass of BF3 will be sold retail, not on origin... BF3s sales will be mostly console. TOR will be all PC.. theres a big difference between buying a copy for a PC only title and a console title.    How many of those BF3 preorders were for PC?   Gaming chart websites that only pull retail miss out on one of the largest sales avenues for PC titles (and especially SWTOR who has DIGITAL ONLY sales on origin) .

Good Lord, man, you obviously aren't going to believe anything anyone tells you about this, even if someone gives you a direct quote from the Vice President of EA, so what's the point?

This is correct.  It tracks US hardcopy pre-orders only.  Doesn't include the EU or any 'red zone' countries that ordered from non American sites (like Amazon.uk), and doesn't track Origin Sales.  So, while I obviously have no clue what the actual numbers are - they would have to be at least a million by now.

As an aside...depending on server architecture - that's a minimum of 50 servers at launch, and more likely around 100 - assuming EA doesn't lock down the pre-orders.  If they keep growing, well...will be interesting :D!

I'd say wait till the real numbers come out, we can assume anything anyone says about anything we want. we can assume the guy was scared to mention another game who knows. The point is we have to wait till the game is released and Bioware/EA release their numbers on what they are. I think VG specifically states that it's america only so no idea what the other countries will have..and i'm going to honest i don't much care if it beats something else. Thats Bioware/EA issue.

We are speculating now pure and simple because the info we need to know for sure isn't out there yet..unless someone has it. Assuming someone is lying or tellng half truths when we don't even have the whole truth ourselves seems a bit far...and while i respect you channel...were your going with this isn't somewhere i expect you to go...bit poor form imo

Help me Bioware, you're my only hope.

Is ToR going to be good? Dude it's Bioware making a freaking star wars game, all signs point to awesome. -G4tv MMo report.

LOL the digital deluxe is ONLY digital....  you took what I said out of context.

Here let me rephrase everything I said to this point.

You don't have all the information, and therefore you are wrong.  Hope that helps.

Yea....frankly this few days i'm bored. I'm just looking for some good argument...christmas sales point by the other poster is a good point. And yes the final number is still far from this. But seriously i expect more sales than this (not trolling)

cos IMO ME sold 2mil+ in addition to mmo fans should equate to around 2mil sales and may go to 3 mil sales IMO.

Started this thread cos some fanboy started out some thread that ToR is selling on fire in amazon. Thought i could balance things out.

Why waste time proving anything to you? You posted to say you just want an argument, and that this thread is to counter a *fanboy* post saying how well TOR is selling on Amazon, so really, you are just trolling.

At the end of the day, EA made official statements to shareholders claiming that TOR has more preorders than any other EA title, including Battlefield 3 which they stated has 1.5 million preorders.

But carry on believing a third rate site like VGchartz over an official EA financial statement.
