First of Third Person Shooter with Persistent World

I love playing games like Battlefield 2 and Call of Duty Black Ops but it is missing one thing I would really like to see, a persistent world where clans can conquer and hold territory. Is there a game out there like this that anyone knows of?

And lastly, what is your favorite MMO?

Firefall is in closed beta right now and will be open to the public starting in December.

APB and maybe Global Agenda might also work for you.

global agenda is not a traditional shooter, but nonethe less.. it's a great game. and clans can hold territory and so forth.

Like Roman said Firefall is the closest to being released but Planetside 2 is coming and Trions Defiance but that one might be awhile til its released.

Someone had a thread for a 3rd person shooter mmo based on Stalker made by some Russian developer you might want to try searching site for it or google.

edit: also Fallen Earth has some pretty heavy 3rd person shooter aspects and it is going f2p in a bit over a week on the 12th.

The game you describe would be World War II Online.  It is a persisitent campaign map of Western Europe and its British&French vs. Germany.  Each city on the front lines can be targetted by one side and through a complicated but fair supply system you are able to spawn in as one of the available supplies (rifleman, tank, fighter plane, etc) and take part in the defence or attack of a city.  When you die you have to respawn by choosing another available supply.  It is an old game and it's too bad there is nothing new out similar to this game, but it still stands up a game worth playing.  It has a 14 day trial to check it out.  Don't let the old graphics fool you, the game mechanics are outstanding.

 Was going to say Firefall too, but it's already been suggested. Same with APB lol, but maybe give that a try until Firefall comes out.
