You have to be from Europe or USA to buy SWTOR from Origins.

Otherwise, you have to buy it from a retail store that'll import a copy or Amazon who will ship you a physical copy.

BW has stated that there will be NO IP-blocking or CC blocking though.

Looked up your profile and yeah, Latvia IS Europe. I guess they still need to port the manual, box and Origin language options for that and they opened up the big national markets first. Still silly though, if they say "Europe" you'd expect all member states.

"With a population of 2.22 million, Latvia is one of the least-populous members of the European Union, and its population has declined 15.1% since 1991."

I guess you guys are kind of back on the list. Looks like your country has also been losing subs, lol.

Anyway, feel free to pick up a few million Dutch people over here in exchange for some deer and elk. Our country is 66% the size of Latvia, yet our population is around 8 times your total. V_V

Outside of the Euro countries listed and North America I think Origin is unavailable for SWTOR but you can purchase a hard copy from inside one of those regions and play the game from outside.

Ontropic: They nowere state Europe or EU anywere on their site, its just that they have taken the biggest and most western countrys were highest profit margin is most likely to be the release region, no doubt that at some point every country will have retail and digital versions but eh, its a big big world.

Strange. I'm living in Finland and bought it from Origin without any trouble. They also advertise the pre-order on their Finnish language website.

But if you tried to buy box copy from Origin, it's currently listed as sold out, so that might explain.

It means "Star Wars" and "The Old Republic" are titles taken can not be used by anyone else.

I am from Europe and I was wondering, since my country's preorder retailer listed on the pre-order page does not work (it doesn't even have swtor listed anywhere) can I preorder from amazon.co.uk and have no problems? Anyone outside of UK pre-ordered from amazon?

Yup you can order from the UK and redeem your code and play from anywhere in the world.

    Hello again everyone,

Since this thread began we've seen a lot of posts, a lot of opinions and a lot of discussion. I'd like you to know we're reading your feedback.

We understand that there's been a desire to gain a definitive 'answer' to why this decision was taken. As I've said before, you already have your answer in the very first post of this thread. It was a decision made to ensure the highest quality of game service in every territory in which we launch, regardless of when that launch occurs.

I'd like to recap on a few other key questions and answers:

    • There are no plans to 'region lock' or 'IP block' players from the game. You may experience some latency issues if you're not playing in a launch territory.

    • Anyone who pre-orders The Old Republic and redeems their pre-order code will be eligible for Early Game Access.

    • Those eligible for Early Game Access will be able to download the game client before it starts.

    • There will be a period after launch day in which those who have pre-ordered will be able to continue playing before entering their Game Code. More information on this will be made available closer to launch.

    • We will accept credit card payments for subscriptions.
These seem to be the key questions for those who choose to potentially import the game, and hopefully we've answered those.

We understand many of you are also interested to know the timeframe for release of The Old Republic outside of the initial launch countries, but unfortunately we cannot give you a definitive timeframe right now. As we get closer to our initial launch, hopefully that will change and we'll be able to give you more details.
