A very old AC1 beta teste

PrecisionPrecision Member Posts: 27

Hi guys I beta tested AC1 way way way back.

I really liked it but I couldn't pay monthly once the game went live.

Does aC1 and AC2 still have monthly fees? and how large is each community now?
I am glad to see the games still live on as I feared they may have died out.

I remember in the AC1 beta the graphics were pretty good (for that time period) and the spell system was very unique (the less people used a spell in the world the more powerful it was, so it helped to keep certain powerful spells secret).

I was wondering if someone could explain to me the fundamental differences of AC1 and AC2, i would really like to see how they have evolved over the past years.
I will probably end up playing guild wars (upcoming game as i dont like monthly fees) but you never know...

Any other old AC1 beta testers out there?

Thanks in advance,
Kind regards,
Precision

Ps. cool devo your name is familar do you post in the guild wars forums or something?

I think that AC1 is more active than AC2, and AC1 is about to have an expansion pack that includes a graphical upgrade plus some other stuff.

Just took a break from AC after many years. AC1 and AC2 both having an expansion pack very soon. AC1, sometime if first half of this year. Was for first quarter but seems to have been pushed back a bit.

AC2, if not mistaken is to be released next month.

If you are returning to AC1 after years away, be prepared to see a game totally different from what you first met :)

One player's great game is another players derisive snort!

Yes, to answer your question, I do post in the GW forums as well. I have also been playing AC since around Beta as well.

There have been a lot of changes to AC1. I beta tested AC2 and that was only for a short time.
The spells are done a lot differently now in AC1. You can find level 1-7 scrolls dropped on monsters. AFAIK all spells are the same strength for everyone (base spell, not taking into account any modifiers). The economy has gotten quite inflated as well. I tried making a new char with no help, like the good ol' days of actually earning your level, and was unable to buy much. The prices have gotten very high, unless you happen to hoard what is in demand for the current period of time.

It is still a good game, although I have found it harder to justify the 12.95 per month for it as of late. With new games like GW on the horizion, it becomes even harder to justify. A great game, with no monthly fees. Maybe I'll end up keeping my account, maybe not. And with my current hectic schedule, I don't have the time to play it enough to justify paying 12.95. I play maybe 2-4 hours a week as I'm in a 2-year program being taught in 6 months at school. And on top of that it's 12.95 US, which is about 15.00 per month for me after currency conversion. It is a great game though, and I'll always have great memories of it, even if I don't continue with it.
