Question About Trial + Retail C.E. 30-Day Gameplay Time, Not Compatible?

MulsiphixMulsiphix Member Posts: 37

Last week I finished my 7-day free trial of Rift and proceeded to order the Collectors Edition on eBay (Retail/Box Set). I swear reading somewhere, though I can't seem to find it, that if I apply my new C.E. product key code to my existing account, that I will not receive the 30 days of free game time that came with my game purchase. Is there any truth to this?

There are reports of both cases:

-people have played the trial and added the game key to that same account, resulting in 35 free days total

-people who activated their trial account with the game's key and got asked to buy 30 days right after, since they've had no game time added with the key.

Best thing would be to start a new account or to call the customer support about which way to activate your trial account without losing the 30 days. I'm planing to do the same thing btw, so it would be nice if you could drop a note on how it turned out for you. Thanks!

*Edit: there also seems to be some confusion with game keys that came at Trion's special offer and did not include the 30 days. Folks thought they missed the 30 days after activating their trial account, while the games they've bought did not came with 30 days in first place.

Alright I contacted customer support through the Trion website and this was the response:

I’m very sorry for the inconvenience this issue has caused you. If you purchase the Collectors Edition with 30-Days of Free Gameplay it doesn't matter il your free trial period has expired, you will get the 30-Days of Free Gameplay.

I have the game in my possession and will be entering the code a little later today when I get home. I will be sure to let you know if it works for me image

I apologize for the delay. Had some PC issues but all is well now. So tonight I went to the Rift Website and clicked on the Sign In link to enter my account. I chose the link "Apply Code" on the left hand side of my account panel, and entered my product key. It then asked me to choose a subscription plan. After I chose the plan and entered my payment information I received a confirmation that had plenty of good information:

    1 Month ($14.99)

The payment method shown above will be used for this game's recurring subscription charge until modified in your Account Management profile.

If you have purchased a version of the game which does not include complimentary game time, you will be charged for your subscription upon your initial log in to the game.

If you have purchased a version of the game which includes complimentary game time, you will not be charged for your subscription until the game time ends.

Any game time included with purchase of certain versions of the game will begin upon your initial log in to the game.

At the end of any game play time included with new accounts and at the end of each successive subscription period, your payment method will be charged (on a recurring basis at your selected subscription rate) until you cancel your subscription. If you choose to cancel your promotional pricing subscription (including, without limitation, Founder's plans and/or Summer of Savings plans) and later re-subscribe to RIFT, the promotional pricing subscription will no longer be available.

I have attached a picture of this as well just in case you would like to see the actual screen for yourself. Thank you for your help and have fun in Rift!
