Hi, I'm still one of those who have a good old modem... I was just wondering what are the good games that I can play with it without lagging.
I heard Guild Wars and Dark Age of Camelot can be played with a normal modem, is it true?
Thanks for the help!

Well.. you can play any game with a 56k modem.. but you won't be able to participate in any raids without lagging extremely bad. I would suggest Guild Wars as well, since I don't think more than 20 people will ever be on your screen, and even that would be rare(most of the time just 6 people).

Evil will always triumph because good is dumb....
Dark Ages of Camelot can be played by modem. There won't really be a lag issue. I doubt you would have any problems playing EQ. SWG can be played, but once you get to cities it becomes all jumpy. I would recomend DAOC.
Probably the biggest issue you will have with most mmorpg is not the lag, but rather the patches. The patches have grown to me very large in most games so expect a long download time in some games. In DAOC you can always log into the test server and get most of the files prior to patch day so that will help.
I also hear guild wars works great with a 56 modem. but ill stick to high speed
I have one of the really old modems: 28.8 Kbps (nothing else but satelite is available in my area). I reccommend RuneScape, which has the least lagging of anything I've tried. 56K is about twice as fast, so you should experience no lag at all. Also to reduce lagging, log out of any IM sessions or chat sessions and don't start any downloads or uploads.

GuildWars works well for 56k, I have played in a few of the Bet Weekend Events and the game runs nice.
The other game I play on 56k is DarkSpace which is technically p2p although a lot of players take advantage of being able to play alongside the subscribed players using the restricted ship selection. It really is a matter of skill rather than having the biggest ships and weapons.

When Eve was in developement it was something they mentioned alot, that they were designing the code to allow for 56k modem users to play. This one reason the game is not a flight slim, allows for bulk of the work to be done client side, simply by sending a vector change as apposed to every flight correction from a joystick twitching about. I dont know how much i beleive it being able to be played well on a 56k though, i like to get as much as i can in terms of performance, but if you have a great computer but are restricted geographicaly to 56k then give the free trial a go, it will become clear quickly either way. GL in your search in any case.
