Taking a break from MMOs

SerenesSerenes Member UncommonPosts: 351

Is anyone with me? The only thing I can see that is mildy exciting for the future is Tera and GW2, after playing SW:TOR Beta and being completely disappointed. I think I'm going to kick back with Dark Souls, Skyrim, Zelda Skyward Sword, and MW3, and just forget the MMO seen until it actualy has another decent release like WoW.

Going to pick up Dark Souls today. I plan on playing Skyrim, Torchlight 2 and Kingdoms of Amalur. Doubt I'll get any mmo action until Guild Wars 2. Infact WoW and Rift became casualties of the uninstall button on my pc.

I'm in the same boat. Taking a big break of the MMO.

Waiting for something good to come out.

While waiting I play minecraft in my free time.

I'm with you brother.  I'll be playing Skyrim and Diablo 3 (not really MMO but good mulitplayer) while waiting for Guild Wars 2.

Yeah. Already taking a break. Stopped playing Lotro some time ago and have not started any other MMO since.

There are 2 problems for me:

    - MMORPG's are too easy and forgiving! Especially in open world content.  As well as games in general. Dark Souls is such fine, breeze, finally something challenging! (well The Witche 2 had some challenging elements as well thou much less than DS)

    - business models,  like f2p and freemium and p2p+rmt / cash shop bigger than few (like 5) items - hate those  - so 80% of games are not for me anyway.

I am observing genre, but I do realize that my 'break' may be loong, maybe very loong.  Have my eyes on ArcheAge and GW2, but not holding my breath tbh.  ArcheAge looks nice, but still many unknown (f.e. business model not specified yet), and GW2 looks very nice, but I am afraid it is overhyped and I am afraid for their b2p model not shifting to item shop like in f2p/freemium games :/

I still play, but I'm not subbed to anything, and I find I play less than I did.  Which is probably a good thing, although I still have no desire to go see that mystical 'outside' place people keep telling me about.  Maybe when it's finally not so hot and muggy all the time.

I am convinced there is only one way to eliminate these grave evils, namely through the establishment of a socialist economy, accompanied by an educational system which would be oriented toward social goals.

    lol same

Hell of a lot more excited for Darkfall 2.0 expansion than I am for GW2.

The PVE in GW looks pretty lame what with the single button mashing I see in the videos and TERA? lol welll lets just take a look, shall we?

OUCH! My ears and eyes hurt now just from watching half of that like I have been playing street fighter all day. Those sword noises are like someone running their fingernails across a chalkboard. The other videos are much better but I picked an annoying random one.

WARNING: hit the mute button when watching any of the TERA vids on youtube lol

Open world PVP looks like its worth trying though but do you gain or lose anything from the PVP? Any risk involved? hrm

Doesn't look like my kind of game but I will probably play it a little.
