    @ OP

This is one of problems that level-based games bring.  This is even worse in current times, since leveling-speed in incredibly fast.  So most players outlevel 'low level materials' in a blaze, and that is how you end up with your problem.

Auction House just add to it. Becasue all offers are listed in one place, so that mean that small amount of 'low level materials' will be bought up ASAP or have atriciously high prices.  Not having AH and having player shops instead mitigate this problem a bit, but many players would QQ about not having AH so that is not viable solution atm, most devs would capitulate over massive qq in game forums anyway.

Low level material beign worthless and similar issues are 'invisible rails' problem that are in themeparks. Themeparks have quite a bit of perks for players, but at same time reason those perks are possible also cause problem like yours. Among many others.

EVE's crafting doesn't really suffer from this, due to the steady influx of newer players there's always a good market for lower level ships and stuff (such as Rifters).

But most of the problems the OP describe come from the fact the lower level crafted gear is worthless.

Wasn't true back in DAOC's earlier days, crafter gear was the best, so even if you could make a suit of level 50 armor that was worth a small fortune, the level 20 player would pay you well to make him a full set of 100% quality armor (assuming he could afford it) and crafting remained useful. (until they changed the game to satsify the drop whores of the world)

I used to be a spellcrafter and I was always fitting armor sets with gems regardless of level, could be level 10 and some twinked player was loading it up.  I didn't charge as much of course, but I still made good profit from those transactions.

    Agreed.

    There is two things.

First of all, levelling nowadays is so fast that very few people want good crafted low-level stuff anyway, since you will get better stuff from quest rewards in few hours / 1-2 day anyway.

Levelling used to be long-process and as important part of game as end-game was.

Nowadays you can just fast forward level, mobs difficulty in open world is laughable anyways. Quest rewards are really all you need to move forward.

Second thing is loot is best anyway, or in 'worst' case scenario on par with crafting stuff, so noone bother to get crafted stuff anyways.

Those are all core design choices in modern games, there is no way around that, if you don't want to heavily change game itself. If devs did there would be uproar from drop crowd, who don't want to craft or don't even want to have to talk with another player to make his gear crafted by him.

They want drops, by themselves and they want it nau! ;p

    Funny thing

I play EVE.     However I've never crafted a single item in this game.   I've always just depended on the rest of the players since pretty much every item in my hangar/cargo holds were at some point made by someone, i never felt the need to craft things myself.

After reading this thread, I feel like I've neglected this part of the game.   I should be taking advantage of the crafting in EVE considering it's one of the best available.      Maybe even give me more reason to take my Prowler out on some runs more often!

I <3 forums.   Always giving me new perspectives  :)

Well to make vagabond u need to make stabber.

Battlecrusiers and battleships are cheap fleet ships that will always sell too.

As you can see low end materials are always in use.
