Darkfall current state, 2.0, alternative MMO.
Im currently playing again with a few friends and the world of Darkfall has changed but not so much. Its fun because were a bit newbier from our launch characters in 2008 but the difference now is that the server pops are low and it gives us a chance to do all the non-pvp a bit more safely. If you want ot get back into DF, go for it. I recommend having a few friends and finding a clan that gives handouts.
DF 2.0 looks like a nice revamp of the current flaws but honestly. I dont know how much the developers can really push this already aged game. I will be around for 2.0 but who knows for how long. I just cant wait to see DF at a higher population once again like it was at launch.
As for my next MMO of choice, I found something quite impressive and though may not have some favorite DF features, it still has soooo many features and content that DF just couldnt produce with their small indie team of developers. If you like games with complete freedom like DF, then youll probably like a nice little game called ArcheAge.
ArcheAge is my next MMO for sure if it doesnt flop after launch. Currently its being lead by the best in the industry "Jake Song" and has very nice promising features and content that most combined MMOs couldnt produce. With that said, ArcheAge is everything we want an MMO to be and 10 times more. I just hope all the beta testing in Korea pays off and we get a nice tuned game for NA and EU which that was the original targeted audience for the game.

Yeah lineage was massivly popular, but does this really make him "the best in the industry"???
Wel lineage2 kind of failed in europe and us and i remember bots bot bots bots.
Archeage is alot different then Darkfall you cant comepare those 2 games.
Why you advertise here anyway go to archage forum instead here trying to convince Darkfall players lure to your game.

this is DF PVP.
DF pvp is hands down the best pvp experiance ever. Ill be back in 2.0 for sure.
DF is the best PVP game Ive played.... and still play. Love it.
Just hoping 2.0 brings in more players.

Yes same here , nothing better out atm , i will be coming back as soon as i get some issues straightened out IRL. I really hope 2.0 delivers before 2013.
Agree on AA , could be good , but i wont hold my breath on it , might have too much themepark infuince (battlegrounds in an open world game ewwwwwwww) also its tab target , the gameplay could still be there , but i would much rather have "real time combat" like DF .
New momentum system to prevent the ADADADADADADA lag exploit that's been going on since I first played Quake1 deathmatch, and more realism including not going from 0 to top running speed in 0.00001 seconds, it sounds interesting.
I hope this also applies to pathfinding NPC's.
I always thought that the lag exploit was kind of lame in FPS games, but for MMORPG's I hate it the most. I don't hate the lag exploit necessarilly cause I'm not good at it, in fact I'm great at it, I just think it looks like crap, it looks cheesy as hell in a MMORPG. I might give this game another shot, I tried free trial like a year ago and thought the graphics and NPC's looked great. But I didn't subscribe because PVP in MMORPG's just don't interest me, one reason being how corny PVP battles look with players lagging all over the place, jumping around randomly, deliberately in random directions that's how the lag exploit works. Where's the front line fighters in a phalanx formation followed by magic users or ranged bow and arrow guys behind, this is how medieval-fantasy battles are fought, not like this.
3rd person is really hard for me to accept. 1st makes me feel like I am really there while its happening. Darkfall warfare just grabs me by the you know what. To bad I dont have time to play.

. archeage looks decent and certainly keeping an eye on it, but i do not see it as an alternative to darkfall or mo just another sandbox game.

Were you drunk while writing this? lol. You can't compare DFO to archeage.... Totally different games, with totally different mechanics. The truth is there is no other MMO like DFO...so if you enjoy it play it, if your looking for an alternative you may as well cancel your sub and wait for 2.0 and play single player games until then.
Even with DFOs major flaws atm and the horrible MMO company running it, its still one of a kind. This is the only reason many players are subbed...if there were alternatives DFO would be long dead by now. I left 3-4 months ago, waiting for 2.0 because I saw no reason to continue to pay AV each month...the company is trash and not worth my time. I'll be back for 2.0 but if its a flop I won't last longer then 1 month..I've already gave AV 1+ years worth of subscription fees....they won't be getting more then 1 months from me for 2.0 until they get their shit together... :-/

Different strokes for different fokes. FPV in melee i find constricting like I have a box over my head and live in a world where peripherial vision does not excist and my nick doesnt move.
melee is 3rd person view in Darkfall.
