Since Tulga is going to market the game via magazines and possibly provide more expansions; if the game gets better and fixed, would you join the game or return?

I have to say no for simple reason that i am playing 2 mmorpg atm and certainly can't do a third.
But good luck on them re doing the game i hope they get it fixed.
The same people who have always been in control are going to be running the game. They simply found a loop hole in the system by starting a new business, which, I might add, is ran by someone who was originally at the head of the company with DB. So this fella quits, starts a new business, and "buys out" AE and voila, it's the same people in control who have always been in control.
The only way that the game could possibly improve is if it honestly came under new ownership and was ran by completely different people. You're not going to get something different from the same'ol thing, and these people have basically behaved (and ran their game) the same since day one - with some exceptions during the period that the legal troubles started hitting home for them.
It's difficult for me to understand why anyone would think that things are suddenly going to be different, although I'm sure that there's still a few who wish "for what could be"...
I also doubt that additional advertisements are going to help much. Gamers are generally pretty connected and Horizons is in the situation that it's in because of the reputation that it has earned for itself. The few who aren't in some way connected will still have Internet access and be able to quickly find reviews about the game.
That leaves an incredibly small pool of people who are more likely to be parents buying a random game for their kid, or simply people trying a game for the first time. They're not particularly informed and there's not a whole lot of them out there; I doubt that it's enough to sustain a MMORPG.
I fail to see the point. They were millions of dollars in debt the last that I heard and couldn't so much as pay their rent or light bill and were trying to get the judge to force the landlord & utility companies to continue providing space & services for free. They're a group of people who live in a whole in the ground and can see the dirt being poured in from the bulldozer above them, yet even as they're looking up at the falling dirt they're telling everyone that things are getting better.
Horse#@$!.
I forgot to add that if it was, in fact, under new ownership and being ran by completely different people then I would occasionally check in on it from time to time. In that case I would have voted yes; but that's simply not the case.

I would actually stay away still for both of the reasons mentioned above. It really is not new ownership. The original owners have shown their true colors, repeatedly.
I believe that they think that they can use spin to sustain Horizons. In reality I seriouisly doubt there will be any new "fresh life" brought into the game, after all it is the same bunch who took a great idea and sunk it in the first place who are running the ship still.
What is so sad about this is that seeing inovative games survive is good for those of us who play any MMORPG. These types of titles provide concepts that the bigger companies end up "borrowing". When any one of them ends up dieing we are all losers. To bad that this games failure will be due to the owners and not the fan base for a change.
"Great idea"??? Have you looked at what HZ was supposed to be? It was an absolutely IMPOSSIBLE game to create. You know what it was intended to be? Vaperware. David Allen and his buddies were going to milk investors for every penny they could, then turn and run. And that's exactly what happened. Then they replaced half the staff and essentially started over on an entirely new game. With 3 million in debt already hanging over their heads. That's why HZ is not what it was hyped to be. The fact that the game launched at all is nothing sort of a miracle.
If you can, go back and read what DA said the game would be back in 99-00. I don't know where to look, but if you find it you will know that they were lying. The ideas presented are simply not possible with current techology. Not even close. Which sucks cause it would have been a great game if it had been real.
But it wasn't, and we got the cut-back, stripped down, bare-bones version instead. That didn't use the "fantastic new techology" that in fact didn't exist.
HZ today is a so-so game. It has some interesting things, and some darn cruddy things (stupid profanity filter). But on the whole it is getting better. The REASON it is getting better is the dedication of the AE staff (tulga now I suppose) who work under difficult conditions for basically no money (reduced salaries, no managment salaries).
Too little too late.
Personally, there is no way I am going to pay to beta test this POS, relic of a game, again.
If the game IMPROVES?
Technically the game continued to improve from day one, since it was so poor.
Then it got a whole lot worse with the merge.
Then it started to improve again.
It is still improving.
However, it is still a vast distance from being anywhere near where it should be. If it is still going in 6 months, and continues to improve, and if I am not still playing WoW, or Dark n Light, I might be tempted to re-activate my char.
You want a list of needed improvements? I'll post one, but it would be long. Vey Long.
Poll really needs a "definately not" or "NEVER" choice.
I concur with the above Tulga is nothing more than spin reasoning above. The original concept Horizons and even the release concept Horizons never materialized and fell far short in implementation. There are too many existing, new, and coming MMORPGs that do better everything Horizons claimed to be attempting to do.
Why go back and waste more good time and money after bad?

Play Horizons again? LMAO. That's a good joke. EQ, AO, DAOC, L2, FFXI, CoH, SWG, SoR, WoW, and EQ2 out now. DnL, Vanguard, Darkfall, Mourning, D&D Online, ME Online, TR, and Imperator due out in the future. Why would you ever want to go back to a steaming pile of crap like Horizons? A game without a future that's not even average at best.
In War - Victory.
In Peace - Vigilance.
In Death - Sacrifice.
I have already tried it three times in the hopes it would be vastly improved only to find it in pretty much in the same state if not worse from the last time I un-subscribed. With what is on the market now and a few really good prospects coming down the road there will be no way I will waste the time ( trial download) or money re-subscription.
I do however follow up on it's progress on a few of the boards and am still amazed given it's current state and feedback that it is still a viable product.
Well,i only returned during the free return to game time .For that time it seemed about the same with some issues getting better some worse.
But the lack of players really was a big issue for me.I would run for miles and find no one.

Which FF Character Are You?
One way to get my money and that is to see DB thrown out the front door. He goes and they change the developers I will support them. Until then forget it. The engine they use will never work with the software they have. Memory leaks still there from beta. Dragons sure can fly but also the worse race of all. They got between 600k to 800k and have to make the game profitable in 6 months. Just not going to happen and they are still losing over 100k a month.
Also the game has hardly anyone left. They are attempting to pay players a dollar a person they get to come play. How low is that I ask you?

I agree with another poster. This game only changed hands on paper. The same people the same everything (Well tier 3 servers now, but that is it). I left because the PEOPLE that ran the game did nothing but lie to us. The SAME PEOPLE are still there, so I will not come back.
Sadly this game had so much promise, but now it is just putting lipstick on a pig.

Let us all not forget how DB left AC2 in shambles once it went retail. Well ok they fired him for back stabbing so he could move up and also destroyed the game. I feel so sorry for all the developers that have had to work there butts off just to get that game in any kind of respectable shape. But DB ruined AC2 and has taken HZ down all the wrong roads. He lies to his player base and then he refuses to really communicate to any of them in the support field.
There is a reason he uses IRC now, no one can reall prove he said anything. Same old dog that only knows the same old tricks.
