Not just because EQ2 still a BETA needs to modify many details also this is the strategy by SOE calls Play and Nerf. This game will changed anything they like whenever they collected information from different forums then nerf. So this game change everyday.
The stealth change is mainly taken on the mobs. And SOE won't tell you about those changes. You have to be sensitive enough and playing the same mobs everyday to detect the changes. I play with different alts in all different zone so I know there are tons of changes everyday just like it is a BETA game.
While SOE increased the mobs ability and make it more harder to kill, the player ability will eventually going down. And player's side sucks more.
The entire game of EQ2 is designed for percentage management control rather than number which means that instead of modify the mobs attacking ability from 50 to 60, SOE changed from 1% to 1,8% of the mobs attack ability. The same to crafting successful rate and error rate and rare item and even the node reapwan rate.
And the problem is that the percetage is not precisely basis. 1,57% would be considered as 2%. 1,44% being calculated as 1%.
Player and the mobs con by color code is also based on the percentage. For example, if you seeing a yellow con mob then there is a fixed difference in percentage, let's say 3% in attack. So the mobs must hit you more and caused the fixed result no matter how you avoid the combat.
This is also why in EQ2 all combats are locked for you and the mob. The game retrieves your data at once and make calculation with the mobs. Your only chance to win is higher class or group play.
The main attack ability from a player is based on 1) weapon or spell damage 2) stealth class attacking bonus 3) level ability. There is no other way to increase your attack. But all of these are preset in the game to assured you will not gain more than the game allowed you to have.
There is no character development in this game. The Japanese game design do not have and do not know what is a hero like the Americans. So everyone is about the same. Japanese like team work so EQ2 is forced to group play.
If you want to play Japanese games you need to know how they designing a game. (No offense to Japanese. Just sharing my experiences.)
So you will not be excel with your class, but if you have a group with all different class then you will be superior to play EQ2. This is why EQ2 force people for group play. It's for your good.

Wow you're still here?
No kidding.
And it's amazing that any one person can fail to understand almost everything. "Clueless" is a gross understatement.
alrighty then captain obvious...all the generalities you said could have applied to almost any game (and if you think eq2 has no char creation, your on crack) of course everything is predetermined by the game, and like you say in the combat, your wrong, everything is done randomly by a "dice" roll or random percentage (melee anyway) try and get a clue what your talking about before you say a bunch of stupid crap.
no larry is 100% correct on no character devlopment beyond RP. My brigand is EXACTLY like EVERY other brigand in the whole game on every server. trainings are a complete joke as 99% or the players pick the exact same option. Go play Anarchy Online for a year then try to tell me EQ2 has any character development at all. This is my second biggest gripe about eq2 after not being able to find a nongrind team
EQ2 plays to the lowest common denominator, moronic players that would rather use thier trigger finger then their brain, moronic players do not want choices its too much for thier feeble brains to handle
he is not right, i have played anarchy online for quite a while. yes they have choices in perks, and yes everyone picks mostly the same stuff. you know why, because people always ask "what is the best, or go look on a website" because they cannot choose for themselves. everquest 2 has lots of options the same way, no one is forcing them to pick the same thing and it does not change the fact that the other options are there.
AO customization comes not from perks so much as it comes from thier skill tree, the insane range of armor and weapons and above all the billions upon billions of combinations available via implants.
Comparing eq2 with ao is like pitting peewee herman against mike tyson in this respect.
In eq2 you get three ( 3 ) character altering choices during you entire career, absolutely nothing you do beside them will influence your char in any way.
I actually think he is somewhat rigth, there is a lot of nerfing going on in the shadows by SoE, and their so called "random" number generator is all but completely broke.
