Didn't really see this posted anywhere, but I thought the video was a good marketing tactic. It definitely looks interesting.

You watch & think man thats the greatest Game ever made , but you would be wrong ,  Rift looks great & even plays Great  for a few month  then it losses its luster , it has no depth of gameplay & zero replayability

Adding solo & duo dungeons may help  but its still just a grindfest type game ..

I don't think they advertised it to be anything other than your normal grind MMO? But, the advertisement does make it look really good, but I can't say anything about it as I haven't touched it since launch.

It's definitely making me think about coming back though. Anyone else thinking about coming back after the video?

Something you might find interesting. Int hat NYCC video mmorpg has a question was asked about RvR. The biggest concern they seem to have is if you do RvR, then the queue on the war fronts will shoot up which makes someeee sense I guess.

There is this running theory that they are going to turn Port Scion into some kind of objective based thing.

I would say it isn't impossible to have RvR come into the game at some point and time, but I'm not sure how soon it would should they focus on it. There has been some talk of a third faction being developed, and if so, that could lead to RvR.

    Seconded.

But if you listen real close, you'll hear "coming soon!" from players. At this point all Trion can do is stay quiet, leave their fans speculating why it isnt there, or why they THINK it will be added in exactly three patches or why whatever else theorycrafting they will do.

Saw the same thing with housing. Fans are wildly speculating but they won't see any housing for at least a year.

    Doesn't sell subs though :(

I could hav sworn I remember Trion actually admitting to wanting to put in Player Housing around the time release was coming around. So I think player housing is more probable than other things.

They re-uploaded it with full 1080p this time, it only went up to 720p on the other video. I have edited the original post with a correct link.

They talked about housing but as in "Yeah, we'd like to put in housing sometime but only if it's done right, but we have other things we'd like to do first".

There was a podcast on Oct 13th where Abigale, a Trion employee (who likes housing) clearly said about 40 minutes into the podcast that while she personally loves housing and hopes it will be in Rift, she admitted that "it's not in the plans at this point". Here's the link:

Speculation) Ember Isle wont be the patch to combat SWTOR: Player housing will

That was just five days ago so I doubt Trion was able to do a full 180 since then based on this recent video. They haven't even officially touched the housing subject since before launch, nor do I expect them too. Given how most mmos operate after launch, they rarely talk about things that are half-ready and never talk about things that aren't even worked on yet.

Given her perspective it's hard to think she wouldn't know Trion is close to putting in housing anytime soon because she's interested personally as well. So that means for this year (two more months) no housing for sure. Then you figure next year they've got to put more effort into some kind of expansion with races on both sides and zones. I don't think they are going to have time for housing at all in that as a priority.

Alright, cool. The more we know. I just remembered hearing it a lot around the forums a lot not too long before launch day. It's not like player housing is number 1 thing being asked for right now anyways. Unless it is and I have no clue what I'm talking about.

I think they'll definitely get housing one day, but quite long in the future.

I remember vividly while playing AION for a year that we all kept asking for more side things like housing and such, and NCsoft was mum about the whole deal. They kept being vague about it and then showed it in the "Vision" trailer which was nothing but a tease after awhile.

Flash forward to today and this news: Aion's 3.0 update features extensive housing mechanics, mounts

Aion added a ton of things since launch; new zones, increased level cap, new gears, bunch of things really. But they are just NOW getting around to housing and AION was more successful overall than RIFT due to their Korean market.

So given how long it takes a successful game (overall) like AION to put housing in, I don't think a game like Rift can do it easily or soon especially given that new competition is coming AND they still have to:

    1. Put out a new expansion

    2. Finish working on Defiance

    3. Get End of Nations ready for launch in three or four months.

I don't think they have to worry about the playerbase. The playerbase doesn't seem to care about housing according to my buddies. They think it will split the community even more than the LFG did so most don't want it so that's in Trion's favor for sure.

Yeah, I doubted it was really high on their list of thing to implement. I just remember hearing a lot about it a little bit before the game actually launched.

    Very good clip.

Making exciting videos has not always been Trion's strongest thing, some past clips were almost a bit lame.

This one rocks though, keep 'em coming!
