So I did some testing. Instant Adventure is going to go down in history as the most common sense thing EVER added to mmorpg's right up there with Coin Lock

**The possible world pvp applications of this are beyond insane in my view. The system is that SIMPLE and common sense it shocks me noone has done it before

    Here is the idea.

    1. Press . (period). Queue happens instantly and you are ported to Stillmoor

    2. Join Group and automatically get a quest. Goto x area and kill y number of things. Get rewarded with Xp, drops, and inscribed sourcestones

    Interesting.

Trion just keep adding more features to Rift, so many things to do and not enough hours to do them !

What haha thats pretty cool :)

You know the first thing I tought the second I was ported into this raid. If that kill x number of wolves quest was changed to a kill x number of players who are in the same area they literally just brought world pvp back in 2 steps.

The application of this are very crazy. They found obvious issues like how it is set-up now could get repetaive so more variety and they said the rewards will be worked on to get people out there. The concept is just so damn simple.

indeed Instant Adventure is definatley a feature totally unique to Rift and possibly one of the most simple yet genious things to do

We are definatley seeing Trion starting to break away from the whole clone scenario with steps being taken such as instant adventure and more great stuff ont he horizon.

It reminds me a lot of aoe groups on dantooine in precu swg. Those were a lot of fun. This sytem takes it to the next level. Looling forward to checking it out

so you get to do solo quests as a group ... wow thrilling LOL

To me this makes me look at war fronts and wonder why do they even exist? I am sure if this is a sandbox idea or what it is, bu Warbs said it in the video. The pvp bound to happen on pvp servers just makes sense.

They stick you in a pre set raid in a pre set area, but the difference is it is open world and you have some objective.

Some of us play on pve servers tho :)

ok even at that...say they port you to area off on the edge of Stillmoor and the requirement to join the instant adventure is you need to be flagged. Tada you join a thing and you are in a pvp scenario? Obvious issue is the graveyard and how far to run...how to keep from being camped?

I just love the idea. It just seems so simple.

I can't wait to see what they build up upon this. I assume if it gets enough praise and use, they would build upon it for more things like world PvP as you said.

Awesome, been waiting for some coverage for a while. Since i haven't heard anything about IA anymore, i thought it would be off the radar.

I really like Warbs' clips btw..always an entertaining, informative and easy watch.

Is this gonna be for all levels? Or yet another max level thing only?

As this feature would be a great and much needed addition for ALL levels, to break away from the standard quest/rifts grind you do today in Rift.

I assume it's max level only.

Imagine the queue-times if this feature would be available for mid level players, of which there are none to speak of. Even with cross-shard IA you would probably hit 50 before you'll get a group together.

Well that's another FAIL in my book.

This game desperately needs alternative gameplay in lower levels. So people have other means of leveling up other then quest and rifts grinding.

And I thought Rift was doing well? Because if so, queue times should not be an issue ;)

If it is... then Rift is already in a worser shape than thought.

Usually a Queue shows demand and would be a good indicator. No queue ~= Lower Demand

I asked and apparently it was for 45+. Now for the Stillmoor one that makes sense because well it is a 45+ zone really. We have not tested the Shimmersand one which could be a 40+ one?

The basics of it were really simple because they wanted to see if the thing actually worked.

I am seriously impressed with Trion's patches. They seem to be adding lots of content and a new feature every patch. Impressing!

Mission in life: Vanquish all MMORPG.com trolls - especially TESO, WOW and GW2 trolls.

    Worser isn't a word =p. Bad -> Worse -> Worst. =D

Either way, I think they might move it down to lower levels should it get enough attention at higher levels and people use it.

Was a bit worried about it at first, but looking at what exactly it is, it sounds interesting. It could be pretty fun, though it does make me worry about taking away immersion.

The way it was set-up for the pts I kept saying "my god this is going to go over great in the Korean release of Rift" because it was a non-stop grind that changed every few minutes and you could do it 24 hours a day.

I think if they try and add story stuff into it somehow that will make it very cool.

One thing I have really started to like about Rift lately is plat means very little.  As much as alot of us hate different currencies inscribed rewards keep the plat sellers away.  I tried instant adventure and believe there is still alot of iteration to be done as stated by Elrar on the official forums but it has alot of promise especially for pvp applications.  It was definitely fun just a little too easy but nothing some elite mobs or a extra boss or two can't fix.

Every single person that mentions "PvP" should really evaluate what an MMORPG is, what they have become, and why they all generally suck these days...

PVP is the cause of so much failture in the MMORPG market.

*QQ* - Your class can kill my class so you need to be nerfed!

    <Class Nerfed>

*QQ* - This game sucks, every class is the same, quests are the same, so dull and boring...

GEE YOU THINK?  PvP has forced class balance and made everything so dull and boring.

So sick of PvP bullshit in MMO's.  Battlefield 3, League of Legends... So many other games DESIGNED for PvP only action.

It's interesting you would say that, seeing all of the first MMO's to release were all based on, featured heavily, or offered PvP in some form.

    Meridian 59- PvP

    Ulitma Online- PvP

    Everquest- PvP

    Lineage- PvP

    Dark Age of Camelot- PvP

    Asherons Call- PvP

    Runescape- PvP

    World of Warcraft- PvP

City of Heroes- No PvP when it released, and cryptic was notorious for nerfing classes.

Every MMO has balance issues, but not every MMO has PvP, that says to me that PvP has nothing to do with balance issues.  Especially since a lot of MMO's now days have seperate stats for the way a power works in PvP or PvE.  Nor have I ever played an MMO were a class wasn't over powered in PvP and PvE at the same time; since they're balanced the same way.  How well a class can mitigate damage, and deal damage.  If they can shrug off damage in PvP or Deal excessive amounts of damage in PvE then they're going to do the same thing in their counterpart.

IA's sounds like they could be kind of the same thing that Blizzard is doing with PvE scenarios.  WoW's will probably end up being instanced though, so it'll lose a lot of cool points.

I think IA's to build world PvP is a great idea.   I'm playing a 7 day trial on a PvP server, and I haven't run into any world PvP in 18 levels; I'm assuming that'll change and higher levels though.

And Trion takes yet another step towards turning Rift into a lobby game...
