I used to play with Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles when I was a kid. The characters were fantastic, e.g., Leonardo, Don, Mike, Raph, Shredder, Krang, Slash, Splinter, etc....
HOWEVER,
When they started to get cute with stupid characters like, "Pizza Throwing Raph" and "Rappin' Mike", I thought that was even too gay for a 12 year old.
Moreover, the Monk is probably the dumbest class of all time.
This is WoW.
I swear you guys crack me up.. Pandas!! how could they:
Arrakoa = bird people
Centaur= horse people
Furblogs = bear people
Gnolls = hyena people
Kobolds = rat people
Magnataur = mammoth people
Murlocs = fish people
Naga = fish/snake people
Qiraji/Nerubian = bug people
Quillboar = boar people
Taunka = buffalo people
Tauren = cow people
Tol'vir = cat people
Tuskarr = walrus people
Wildkin/Moonkin = owl people
Wolvar = wolverine people
Worgen = wolf people
I don't see a problem.
I know - right. Too funny.
Only two of those races is playable fyi. Tauren & Worgen; the Werewolf and the Minotaur are well-known mythological creatures in fantasy genre. A talking panda is not (two cartoon films do not count as "well-known" in comparison). Blizzard obviously has lost all respect not only for their playerbase, but their own IP.
Warcraft III.....Pandaren NPC's so anyone who thinks this is a recent "jumping the shark" or attempt to get the Kung Fu Panda crowd really does not know Blizzard, understand or know WOW and obviously could careless about the game.
Oh I remember the pandaren in WC3... I also thought they were the worst part of WC3 and didn't belong anywhere in the Warcraft universe. My opinion hasn't changed, and Blizzard would be jumping the shark by legitimizing pandaren in WoW, if they hadn't arguably already done so.
Do you guys really think WoW is such serious bizness that Pandas do not belong??
For me, it's not the Pandaren. Blizzard has had a bit of whimsy in its Warcraft world since WC2's goblins and gnomes, so it's not entirely out of character.
The problem, for me, is that it really feels like Blizzard is throwing whatever they can at the game to try and keep it alive without really creating a coherent experience. One of the appeals of "vanilla" WoW was that it felt so immersive, and the storylines felt deep and epic, and the challenges were genuinely challenging. That continued, for the most part, through BC, and to some extent through WotLK.
But by Cata it was gone, and this is definitely not going to bring it back. It's not one thing, it's a lot things; it's the "epic" gear that isn't so epic with every patch that gets released, and the countless vanity pets whose novelty wears off extremely fast, and the motorcycles and other crazy mounts, and the pointless grind-y daily quests, and the "new" dungeons that feel very much like all the "old" dungeons, and the threat-that-threatens-to-end-the-world-of-the-week, and the seemingly endless aren't-we-clever pop culture references, etc., etc. And the dead zones, and the pointless grind to top level through those empty zones, and the general feeling that 90% of the game's content is totally irrelevant.
Again, this does nothing to fix that. It's just throw-more-content-at-the-wall-and-hope-some-of-it-sticks. Which was what Cata was, and it failed. At least Blizzard has made some effort to preserve the credibility and the appeal of their Diable and Starcraft enterprises, but goodness only knows for how long that will last.

If you would jump a few pages back you will find the origin of the pandaren in warcraft, and you know that it always was a joke but the masses responded positive to it. this is were marketing and statistics fail. taking a moment in time to base a futher design on.
anyway, panda's aint that bad, its downright boring to make them monks every freaking panda in every game is a monk but eh I suspect this is a pure asian market expansion, its their biggest player base and they do love furry things over there and hey the PR machine is rolling again by this story, breaks true the SW:Tor reviews for atleast a momentairly lift in the review-o-meter

This. I cannot stand Pandaren...but they've been part of Warcraft before kung fu panda existed.
I can understand people hating on Pandaren since they think they're a kiddie race. However why the hate for Monks? If this wasn't WoW I'm 100% postive they wouldn't think it was stupid.
I presonally think that Pandaren is a stupid race to add and they should have added Naga. I am wondering how they are going to implement monks since if I remember correctly they did not use weapons, only various fist attacks with different elemental effects.

Who are we kidding? Blizz could take a big steamy creamy dump in a box and it would sell as if there were no tomorrow.
Updated graphics, new class, new race, new areas to explore, will they change their end game approach? That's what's going to seal the deal on the new expansion. Not that it's featuring some pandas.
The only part of this that is even halfway intriguing to me is the "PvE scenarios", which I am assuming are somehow different from scripted dungeons. Still, given how far behind on level my characters are (I quit partway through The Burning Crusade, and have spent very limited time since in game), I don't think I'll be persuaded to give it a try.

Naga are my favorite race, I would've loved if they added them. They definitely make more sense, I honestly thought they would have both Pandaren (new lore, huge fanbase) and Naga (recognizable lore, decent fanbase) playable...but I guess not.
They use various weapons, but may have a focus on Fist Weapons...which would be nice

I wanted the Monk class for so long since I saw them in Scarlet Monastary. Now that it's coming, I want to play it but cant' find it a reason to return to WoW for the few minutes of enjoyment.
It is funny how much hate there is in this thread over there being Pandarens. Kind of reminds me of the hate about there not being Pandarens when LK was announced...
I miss the MMORPG genre. Will a developer ever make one again?

LoL Yeah seriously.
I have to say I was pretty disappointed then. I mean I hadn't played WoW since BC era, but the rumor they would have been included piqued my interest.
Over all WoW is pretty meh with a good variety of different games coming out.
Still I don't think it'd hurt them by any means. Besides, every game that's cloned them will add a furry-er race now.
I used to play MMOs like you, but then I took an arrow to the knee.

Here's a WC3 vid of the Pandaren Brewmaster going crazy.
For anyone who never played the previous Warcraft games.

They just announced that you'll (pandas) pick your allegiance, horde or alliance, at level 10. Now that is something cool.
I want a mmorpg where people have gone through misery, have gone through school stuff and actually have had sex even. -sagil

I always felt like world of warcraft is for kids. Can't say pandas will change my attitude..
Will probably fit in to warcraft lore nicely. Right there with dwarves and elves.

It's not april 1st.... /facepalm.
Sorry guys. But....R.I.P WoW (and now...finally)
Panda monks? Okay, I'm in. Should be good for a laugh or two.
I'm a big ol' fluffy carewolf. Be afraid. Be very afraid.
Question, would you prefer ninja pandas over with GW2, Archage and SWTOR? because this is the other games you will have on offer when this releases.
rpg/mmorg history: Dun Darach>Bloodwych>Bards Tale 1-3>Eye of the beholder > Might and Magic 2,3,5 > FFVII> Baldur's Gate 1, 2 > Planescape Torment >Morrowind > WOW > oblivion > LOTR > Guild Wars (1900hrs elementalist) Vanguard. > GW2(1000 elementalist), Wildstar
Now playing GW2, AOW 3, ESO, LOTR, Elite D
Well GW2 out of that list just because it'll have gameplay tweets the genre needs.
This is on par as silly as anything TOR.
I used to play MMOs like you, but then I took an arrow to the knee.
They cannot have a focus on fist weapons, because guess what, that would not be 'balanced'

Bah balance is an illusion...
But I can see talents gearing towards Fist weapons or staves.

It would seem you all also missed the pokemon mention:
"Pet Battle System"
Gotta get em all!! Gotta get em all!
So Kung Fu Panda and a Pet Battle System!
I predict incredible GROWTH after this! :-)
No Really...lots of people will come back to play this. If there is more to do than Raid after hitting 90 people will stay.
