    ...nope.    Get off my lawn.

A ruined game...lol. A lot of companies would die to have their games as ruined as WOW and D3.

Those having problems comprehending what is free about Diablo III, even going as far as to make themselves look clever by showing their calculations, are placing zero value on the World of Warcraft sub and that is where they are failing.

If you still play World of Warcraft and are likely to be playing for 9-12 months this is a good deal.  You would be paying for the game subscription anyway so the money is already spent.  What you find is as well as the game you continue to play and pay for, you get Diablo III and Mists of Pandaria beta access guaranteed on top.

If you do not intend on playing World of Warcraft for the 9-12 months, this deal is not for you.  Move on.

I know a few friends/co-workers that are all over this and they can't be the only ones.

One of my friends actually said he saw some of the people that left, coming back today.

My WoW days are over so I'll buy D3 as a stand alone but I was tempted. :)

Either way, it's a great deal for people who love WoW and the diablo series. It is quite an offer, even tempted me for a few minutes of thought, but I decided against it. Too much coming to tie into an annual commitment , for a game I left pretty much a month after Wotlk, though I wander back for a fix when bored.

    Brilliant marketing move

My deduction is that by offering annual sub with cool incentive they can avoid any sub lost when ToR, gw2 and tsw launches next year.

Hands down to their marketing strat, imo they should include MOP into the package to further sweeten the deal

Battle.net is not currently allowing active accounts to sign up to get the annual pass, you must either unsubscribe or set it up with a new/inactive account. Also, the mists expansion is basically guaranteed invite to the beta. Anyone who guarantees to pay for a year more of wow will get the opportunity to play an incomplete game release, riddled with bugs, that may or may not be playable, online, or capable of handling the number of players this beta test could accrue.

Reading posters on the battle.net page, you would think blizzard walked on water to deliver these savings on to the community. In truth, this is possibly an even bigger affront than patch 4.1 was to the wow community. Not only are they trying to lure people in to guarantee they get money for a year, they sell digital software, yielding no real profit loss in distribution, as well as completely destroying the point of a beta test: not to play the game early, but to fix and bring bugs and issues to light of the developers as well as provide feedback on systems that need tweaking.

This has me angrier than learning the next expansion is WoW: Kung-fu Panda.

So not true. I have an active account for 6 yrs now and i signed up for anual pass. U can sign up with an active account. U in fact have to have an account in good standing and an active account to sign up. Read the faq before u post lies.

The Deal is fantastic - but I will not be playing The World of Warcraft, so truly this offers means nothing to me. I personally don't have the time for both, and I would rather choose D3 over World of Warcraft.

I love you Blizzard, but it's either one or the other for me, and Diablo is something I've been waiting for, for a long time. I would rather sub on and off to TOR or Rift hand them the $60.00 and then hand you the $60.00 for D3 which satisfies my needs, especially knowing I don't plan to touch warcraft ever again with the limited amount of free time that I have.

Just my opinion and two cents.

I really can´t believe people are trying to put this offer into a negative light.

Then again i guess i should be used to the  "I personally no longer like WoW which obviously means it sucks"  crew.

I can bet an arm that most people that bash at any Blizzard´s  marketing would drool and applaud if GW2 pulled a similar offer where you get the olg gw´s for free and access to the beta of the first Gw2 expansion plus a cool exclusive mount, but since it´s Blizzard, it´s the work of the devil.

    Same old, i guess.

so, what they want you to do is sub a year of wow while playing d3?

nice way of ensuring that ever-diminishing "active subscribers" stat doesn't keep falling.

i wouldn't call this superb marketing. i'd call this a desperate attempt to fudge the figures over the coming months so their shareholders don't start panicking.

wow has been a wonderful game - at times. i won't tell you i didn't enjoy it. i did. but they attempt to disguise the fact that you're playing wow by radically changing talent trees every six-eight months so you think you're getting a whole new game. usually by dumbing them down.

i loved the artwork. loved the journey. pvp had great potential.

but blizzard, the company, is its own worst enemy.

and pandas? i expect that kind of cheese as the focus of an expansion from free mmos, i really do. but from blizz?

no to diablo 3. yay to torchlight 2.

  • MMOtoGOMMOtoGO Member Posts: 630

This is a logical arrangement.  Since Diablo III was going to occupy a whole lot of WoW subscribers for a while, they made sure they maintaned the sub revenue.  This wasn't desperation...it was smart.

GW2 really does not have to do any of that. It does not have any subs, soooo, it does not have to try and lock people into a subscription to give the false pretenses of having high subs even when people are not even playing. If people notice WoW losing a ton of subs it will go down quicker than water down a drain. People in WoW will notice that something is taking people away and their curiosity will pull them towards whatever game is doing it.

This is only to help pad WoW's subscription numbers. Nothing more.

    BOOYAKA!

If someone goes give into this marketing ploy and then gets bored of D3 and WoW in 1-2months they are going to feel very very sorry.

    No kidding.

Funny how fanaticism works both ways. Positive feedback and you're a fanboi, negative and you're such a troll.

Since GW2 has no subs, it can't be used as a counter argument but those fervently defending use it anyway. Makes you think where logic really stands. Maybe it's sitting down here.

The deal does seem to cement its subs whether you'll play D3 or not, because it is a mandatory 12 month subscription. No cancellations allowed.

    Smart:Yes

    Desperate:Not really

It is business after all. They're trying new venues for possible income and whatever works for them, their investors will be that much more jubilant in the progress. Disapproving players be damned. ;)

6 of my former guildmates have re-subbed according to my friend.

If you are an ex-WoW player, this is very tempting actually. Heck, even I considered it and I already have the SWTOR CE on pre-order.

You and I are rowing that same boat my friend. I have no friends that play WoW anymore though. So you have more of a reason to keep rowing where as I am debating getting off the boat and swimming towards some other shore. But yes, tempting.

Even though I plan on playing SWTOR, I also planned on keeping my WoW subscription since I have friends who play WoW and honestly, I still enjoy the game. So for me, getting Diablo 3 for free in addition to a couple of other goodies, seems like a good deal to me. It's not a good deal for everyone but if you plan on playing anyways... why not?

I was at a supermarket to buy some stuff and saw 'buy 2 soaps and get 1 free' deal. Reminded me of this.

Course I bought it since soap will get used eventually and I am not loyal to a particular brand. :)

I don't think those are the people Blizz is tragetting here. This deal is for very loyal and hardcore Blizzard fans and for those who have been playing WOW for years and have no plans to quit. This is the best deal they can ever get.

Great .. now all the Wankers from World of Wankers are gonna be in diablo too talking about their stupid Chuck Norris nonsense.  Was looking forward to getting away from 12 year olds for a while .. no such thing with Blizzard games anymore I guess :(

This is the perfect way to keep the already drooling zombies of all Blizzard products right where they belong.. Hell, Activision should take note and offer the next 2 CoD games in a big ol playpack bundle or something before they are even created..

Theres no doubt in my mind that most of the community that praised WoW for being "innovative" and then SC2 for being "innovative" and now of course D3 will be "innovative"...

    Keep them..

    <--Dumbass here

I fell for it before fully reading how craptastic WoW is going to get in the span of 12-months.

Oh well, at least I -should- get 1% cash back on that $14.99 a month I waste... :
