Guess that depends on your patience.  And budget.

Don't cling to the wallet so tightly.  Life is too short.

Me too, but I won't risk it on a game I've never played.  I have played SWTOR, so I have made a decision on it, already.  But if I hadn't gotten to play it, I'd probably wait til trial.  I'll put up with bugs and lag and chat that goes a mile a minute, IF I played and liked the game, beforehand.  It's because of this clinging to my wallet that I CAN afford to buy at launch.  ;)

I will wait for 2-4 weeks but not because of the initial problems. I want to make sure the majority of players love the game before spending hours and money in it.

Yeah, i'm like the opposite of that.  I often find myself not liking what the majority likes or not caring.   Some of the best MMOs i've played have had under 50k sub numbers (AO, TR, FE, EVE (back in the day), etc.).

I couldn't care less how many people love WoW or AION or Lineage, what matters is whether the game looks interesting to ME (and these don't).

As far as TOR goes, I'll be on the sidelines because i'll be on vacation without access to internet for about a month after its launch.  I'm planning to pick up once I return and play it as my single-player game for at least a month or two.  Still keeping EQ2 as my main MMO.

And this MMO will have that multiplied by 1000 so I've made the gracious decision, no need to thank me, to not pre-order or buy at launch and just sit back and observe the drama and mayhem unfold on here and the official forums its going to be very interesting. Yes I know but I'm not going to be able to say in 2 years "well DUH! I've been in since headstart and its always been like that" So have fun guys Oh! and lots of patience your going to need it.

I'm in the beta and can't say much due to the NDA.  But what I'm about to say, I'd say regarding ANY game.

Don't buy it til' you can try it.

I tell you that based on absolutely 0% of my opinion of the game or my experiences in beta.  It's just good old common sense.  If you're not irresistably compelled to play at launch, then you should consider waiting for a trial.  The only way you'll know for sure is to try it, yourself.

Thats usually my main way to pick an MMO these days. I've been in quite a few beta's the last one being Rift and I'm seriously glad I did that beta and I did sign up for SWTOR beta but haven't got in yet (but guys I do like to test as well so there's a double reason for signing up) so I'm hoping they'll be a open beta but it still doesn't change what modern MMO's are like at launch.
