1. Rifts classes are BASED OFF of WoWs dual spec system. WoW has dual specs you can change on the fly. Rift has 5. Its the same concept. Rifts class sytem = Vanilla's flexibility + 8 trees instead of 3 + WoW's dual spec, change on the fly system. And the talents are going to be able to be changed freely just like glyphs they said.
2. Rift's class sytem isnt necessarily a raging success anyway. More people leave Rift than stick with it after all. And while most say they love the flexibility, very few ever rave about a particular soul and how awesome it is. there is an awful lot of watered down in Rift's system, because of its flexibility.
That said, I despise the new talent system and it does not appear like they have done anything to fix the endgame. In fact, by having everything drop valor they made it worse. GEARGEARGEARGEARGEAR just isnt fun. This is something that Rift has learned, well from Rift, because they are at least trying to break away form GEARGEARGEARGEAR mode.
having played vanilla, vanilla didn't have this kind of dynamic, they had the same old three tier system the only difference between that and cata is cata requires you to stay in the same tier. So in Vanilla you "could" choose to do a multitier system HOWEVER there was no structure for that. Rift has structure just for that purpose so NO Rift didn't copy wow. Rift did their own thing with the system Blizz had a hand in designing however Blizz wasn't the only gaming co to create this tier system or talent trees. People are leaving Rift not because of the class system but because of issues every game has with PVP balance and with PVE content including but not limited to gear progression issues. I would suggest you get your facts straight before posting again. Facts are everything, thus the reason my original post asked whether or not the talent trees would be changing in WoW.
My facts are fine, especially since everything is opinion anyway. Well its a FACT I found the individual souls in Rift overall lacking any kind of pizzazz, mirroring the entire games lack of flair or soul. It is also a FACT that I am not alone in this opinion.
You also didnt read my full post because I said it was a combination of the Vanilla flexibility added with the instant spec swaps that WoW added later on. if you dont think this was based off of WoW you just arent being honest with yourself. Yes WoW isnt the only game with three tree talent system but when everything else is so similar...If it walks like a duck and talks like a duck....
You arent in a position to try to encourage people never to post again.
however if you give everything the players ask for in the first game or expansion, what you gona give them later on? seeing that blizz have 12 mil players at BC time, its ok to them just to release 2 new race and a new continent, and slowly releasing the class that players wants to continue to keep them. I think the next x-pac they will include player housing, and maybe beast slayer and necromancer, just to make players keep staying and coming back
i think you're right and it does make for a good business model when mmo's first released however it's become a thing of the past with most of the new dev companies because people want what's fun now and don't want to wait three years for a class to be released. Once wow's hold is gone, i think blizz will most likely have to change their game plan for future titles due to companies like those making GW2, SWTOR, and Rift being so competative and not manipulative of the fanbase.
Wait, you dont think Trion is manipulative of their fanbase? This is a company that made it absolutely clear they would never have RMT, but then added them under the guise of a special edition. Even the frequent updates are manipulative of the customers. hey! look at all our world events! What> they really arent that different from each other??? But they are frequent! Hey look! shiny raids! What? most of you dont even raid? Well hey, here you go! hard mode dungeon, new group content!!!
WOW 6 MONTH ANNIVERSERY!!!! Come celebrate, come back 'veterans' that cancelled' new people buy game for 5 bucks!!!! One month later: Hey, veterans come back again! Hey buy the game for 5 bucks again!
Your server is being converted to a 'trial server' to help get new people into the game! So, the game now has 40+ trial servers, right?
Look, Trion isnt a bad company and are working their asses off, but their integrity isnt exactly intact at this point, there is definite manipulation going on. And the other two games arent even out yet.
I think Blizzard has a lot of issues (2 year expansion cycle for a game with WoW's income is inexcusable, when these expansion havent been *that* big to begin with. Its not like we got Kunark, vleious, Luclin or PoP sized expansions) but their player manipulation certianly isnt anything that isnt apr for the MMORPG course.
I can only speak for myself but honestly I'm digging these changes and most of my old guild who quit are really excited about the expansion and want to get the band back together. So not everyone is heralding this as the end of the game, I think its quite the opposite its going to bring back a lot of old and new players. But everyone can keep shouting it sucks and is the end, to each his own.
He got bored of WoW, you cant honestly expect one computer game with limited playstyle options to keep everyone interested forever? It's not the end of any game when some certain person moves on. The game didnt become bad, the worst thing about it is that it's not changing at all, more of the same with some tweaks and new textures for 3 expansions already, try not to get bored with that heh. At least now it seems like it tries to offer something new like the pokemon game and pve-battlegrounds? Should have done that 2 expansions ago, it's getting a bit too late trying to please the "back in the day" WoW players like me, way too late.
Remember that old saying... "If is isn't broke, dont fix it"' I am really questioning what the developers are thinking right about now, is this a act the swing more gamers to there upcomeing "Diablo3"??? I mean really.. Monks??... let me say this again and didicate a whole line to this BS...
MONKS???????
IMO, I think Blizz devs need to go back to the original plan and focus the game on what made it amazing "Warcraft"
this isnt everquest folks... wow!
what's fascinating about it is Monks are another class that were asked for heavily by many players when the Burning Crusade was being developed and hyped and they wait until now to do these things. I do hope other game makers are taking notes so they don't make this same mistake of waiting til the eleventh hour to bring a heavily requested item or class to their games.
They did add the number one requested class in wotlk, and given its balance issues that took forever to fix you can give them a pass on another new class for Cata. And I think demon hunter is a much bigger request than monk, but it just wouldnt fit the expansion. And with all the bitterness over rehashing stuff there is no way they were going back to a burning legion excpansion.

I think its more to do with a post I read somewhere here on the forums earlier today. Basically, Blizz, in order to keep people interested and coming back, has to basically reinvent their game otherwise people would see through the lack of creativity on the part of the devs.
People assume Innovation should always be about invernting something new.

yep but my post was about him covering the beta of the newest expansion, not wow as it stands now.
Look at all the wow threads!

lol
It corrolates with their own dumb ass opinions.
Therefore in today's understanding of news, yes. Yes it does.
I used to play MMOs like you, but then I took an arrow to the knee.
