Now just imagine....if you put as much thought, interest, care and concern into the games you like as much as do into WOW that you hate, maybe you would be having fun too.

Not really. It seems the WoW loyalists do not want to listen to the concerns of the people that are leaving the game. If I was Blizzard or WoW loyalist, I would be asking myself one very important question right now. I'd have my tablet ready to do a LOT of typing and note taking. Then I'd ask "What has the game done or not done for you the subscriber lately because we need you and want you back? Please list all your concerns."

1st pandas were in wc3 so its rly not a big deal

now the people that have been playing wow for along time **that havent played wc3** may see this as silly / stupid ..but then again they maybe already on the fence leaveing for a new mmo anyways

imo they will prolly get allot of new subs if they market it right to the kiddies that havent played or even some that are playing now ...i also see a bunch of vets jumping ship too ...i think it will pretty much balance the subs out ..but if you dont play wow or havent in years..why is this even a topic now to you..its more like EH.. wow.. w/e.. it sucks and has for a long time.. and go about what ever it is you were doing..to be all up in arms about this is sillyer than the kung-fu panda jokes

soon this game will be f2p with even more cash shops and fiting into the market as a "free realms" type of mmo

I wouldn't worry, Titan have Kaplan as lead designer and he is really good. He left Wow a few years ago, I doubt he would have made a panda expansion.

Yes some players may see it as silly or stupid.  So did Blizzard.

Thats why they ran it as an April Fools joke awhile back.  Because it was silly, and stupid.  To them.  And everyone laughed and breathed a sigh of relief.  Until now.

Now being the time when they decided to add a race and center an expansion around it, that they actually RAN IN AN APRIL FOOLS JOKE once because it really is that stupid.  And funny in the context of a joke.  Too bad no one is laughing now.

I were wondering what they were thinking then already, WC3 were in many ways a great game but I had some issues with the pandas.

Adding some panda npcs wouldn't have mattered at all, but focusing an entire expansion on them seems to say the least unwise to me.

This is the wrong channel to express your concern. The real feeback goes on official website. You thiink Blizzard cares about what people are saying here on the forums Also it would be silly to imagine that Blizzard will just cancel Pandarians expansions because some people are unhappy with it.

Like people already said, if you go back a few decade's you will see Pandaran race ingame in the RTS strategy series of warcraft.

They are part of the lore like the Naga.

I was more disturbed with the blue spacegoats in TBC....

But that doesnt mean i find the next expansion lack luster i think they shouldnt have done it.

Emerald Dream was far more appropiate when you defeated the dragon aspect that is deathwing.

But i gues that will be the expansion after the Pandaran :P

I dont believe Criss Metzen when he says that the war between Alliance and Horde is comming back, Cataclysm he said a year ago will do that.

And i dint see it one bit, only 2 new battlegrounds -_-

Time will tell but my guts will say alot of people tired of wow can finaly unsub and start looking to something new.

You either hate it or love the Pandaran.

WoW is Serious Bizness... no pandas allowed!!!

What kind of adult plays a cartoon game with talking cows and gnomes but rages about panda bears??

  • DragonantisDragonantis Member UncommonPosts: 974

WoW may lose alot of adult players but because of this new Pokemon styled pet battle system it will be tapping a new player sourse, the pokemon player and fan playerbase.

Thats good news in a way, but:

    1) He will have to do what he is told by the Management and Marketing.

    2) He may not add Panda's. He may even make a serious mmo, but It will probably be made with easy mode from the start, for kids.

Cause it only stands to reason. If Blizzard found that kids are the answer, then they will target them in Titan.

As for the pandaren, your all idiots, look at the lore, then ask yourself one question, "fans want more content, weve done tons already, whats left ?"

Use your brains, they can add new expansions and new content without the WC2 and 3 lore, of which the pandaren were a part, what else can they add, their really running out of material now and I suspect the next and final expansion will be the emereld dream and the final story of the dragons.

Which will end the wow story, bringing us into Titan.

I don't think you get the full point,

Many don't like the Panda thing, some don't care, others like the idea. HOWEVER, one thing for sure.  WoW is targeting the six year olds.  And that's hard on adults !!!

Titan will follow in it's foot steps.

I think it would make more sense if they tried to target a different audience with Titan. I dont think they want Titan to compete with WoW. And Blizzards plan is certainly not that people should stop playing WoW and play Titan instead.

They want the market to grow. And they want to dominate it. They are in a much better position to do that if they offer two products that are different. Not if they have 2 products that compete with each other. A lot of people dont like WoW or at least not what it is today even if they liked Vanilla. IMO, the fact that they are more clearly than ever targeting a specific audience with the latest expansion gives us a good reason to expect Titan to be very different. Blizzard believe that unhappy WoW players that leave will play Titan instead. Because it will be a game for them. And at the same time new players will also start to play WoW.

So I believe there will be a lot of new WoW expansions in the future. And they will all be very different compared to Titan and its expansions. Blizzard hopes that together WoW+Titan will have a lot more subcsribers than one of them would have if it was the only game they could offer.

    I seriously can't fathom how a Panda is suddenly 'crossing the line' when we have a the following;

Talking Cow, A blue goat with tentacles, Werewolves!

    I mean.. REALLY?

Minotaur says hi. Simply because something can talk doesn't mean it's ridiculous.

Blue goat with tentacles. I still wonder WHERE people see a goat in draenei? I have always been convinced people called em spacegoats because thats what the cool kids do.

And werewolves... have been a serious topic in horror for quite some time. Nothing "ridiculous" about that.

It's all relative and opinion related , sure. But when you're trying to equate the ridicule of panda's who'm art has deviated from something somewhat serious (WC3) to the animated kid's movie one with the one of werewolves  which actually looked fearsome, than you're trying way too hard.

Soon people will tell me robocop is just as ridiculous as spongebob squarepants.

Actually it is, there was an article on Gamasutra and quotes from kaplin or some other blizz exec saying that they know wow has some good competition now but what they really want is to beat wow with their own project titan, so YES they do plan for Titan to suck up a big chunk of their wow player base, their plan seems to be to move players from wow to titan and titan will be coming out just as wow is coming to its end, they always said level 90 or 95 would be the final level cap.

WOW will still be getting content when Titan launches

no idea why you think WOW ends with Titan

VB: Yeah, so how do you decide that?

PS: We intend to do more expansions too. There is no change in our thinking. We intend absolutely positively to continue to support the existing World of Warcraft product. There are over 12 million global paying subscribers that are active in our game. We are not going to turn our back on them and we intend to continue to support that franchise for many many years to come. As to our new unannounced game, we believe that it will be more complementary than competitive. And while people do have a limited amount of free time that they can devote to these types of games, we do think that people will want to check out the new and the old. We think the new one is very compelling and is going to capture a lot of hearts and minds and will be very successful for us. But we also believe that many people will continue playing World of Warcraft because they have such a huge collection of friends and community. We have taken some of our most experienced developers and put them on this project. We believe we have a dream team. These are the people who made WoW a success. We are going to blow people’s minds.

Exactly. All of this hysteria over a panda?? It remains to be seen how the Monk class will play out, but those going into hysterics over a panda race, are at best silly, and at worst..... ^^  The Asians are likely to LOVE this, and thats the largest part of WoW's market at this point.  They could literally lose everyone in NA and Europe and still have millions and millions of players.

Exactly. Not to mention the HUGE Asian market.   WoW could lose everyone in the NA and European markets and still have millions and millions of subs.  Not to mention that the Asians are used to cash shops, and the SWEET profits to be had from cash shop games.  At this point I have six 85's. I'm going to wait and see how this works out in practice, before I make any rush to judgement.

My understanding is that under Chinese law, you cannot even depict violence against a panda.... not sure how well that's going to work in their Asian market.

Personally as far as that goes I think its almost racist.

Pandas are a Chinese thing.  Right?  So lets create a race called "Pandarins" and then what we'll do is set them up in a Chinese culture and create a new "monk" class!  Yeeeeea......thats good stuff!

Its kind of....weird really.  They could have had Pandas in medeival castles, or in even persian type structures or an Indian culture but no, they gave them a Chinese culture.  Pandas....and Chinese!  Its PERFECT!

Seems kind of steriotypical or something.

    1. WC3 had Pandas before the movie.

    2. People like Pandas, and it will help to attract, or keep people playing WoW. Which means it's a good decision and the timing just means people are in the mood of living out that fantasy since the movies came out. Or releasing a more typical race would have been thier choice that would fit with thier already available list, and be more of a mainstream race as well.

    3. Its racist if it involves redicule, and it is towards humans/culture. It is not making fun of them, and also it is probably going to give praise.

    4. Brutuality against Panada's is something for them to consider, but if they think a talking kung fu panda is the same as the Panda that they want to protect, and having an online game with a hero that can also dish out dmg is conisdered violence towards Panda's then that is thier decision. I can see the difference, and maybe they think this depiction is a challenge to thier law, not sure, but it is also giving them Panda's praise as I said. I think a good way to guess if the Panda is in issue to know if the Kung fu panda movie is a banned movie from China. If not, then it should not be a problem.

    http://www.guardian.co.uk/film/2011/jun/06/kung-fu-panda-2-china

Looks like playing in China may not be that big of an issue after all...

Thats good for them then. They wont miss out on the fun, becuase really it gives WoW a chance to put a character with a different body type as well. Since they have already used a lot of buff to slim types already and need to differentiate from that.
