Pandas?...Now I'm very concerned about the Titan project

delete5230delete5230 Member EpicPosts: 7,081

Think about this,

No one knows much about the Titan project.  The name " Titan " sounds cool but its only a code name for the project.  It could very well be a kids mmo.

With all the children orientated changes to WoW for the past two years. It would only be smart to think that the Titan project will launch as a kids game from the start.

At first thought, I would assume that Titan would be somewhat like Vanilla WoW( Blizzards roots ). I'm sure many of you would think the same.  But after seeing WoW adding Pandas to WoW, I would have to assume that Titan will be made with all the easy mode features WoW has now, infact I would even guess more !

I'm scared !!!!!

Well Blizzard just lost all the credibilty they had left in the eyes of many people so I think Titan is pretty much Doomed now . Whats obviously needed is change at the top . Someone needs to be sacked .

I might take the piss out of WoW but will say this.

Whilst Blizzard may have lost "artistic credibility" they still have "commercial credibility", for every grown up that leaves over Pandagate (tm) another child will subscribe.

The only ones leaving WoW because they (finally) add the Pandaren, are the ones that have no idea about Warcraft Lore.

I'm serious, read it up. I'lle hint: Warcraft III, Frozen throne.

I used to be a huge blizzard fan pre-wow

I loved wow at launch back in 2004 and I still like blizzard but will no longer blindly buy any blizzard game

    whatever Titan is,

we know its going to be a mmo and different than WOW -- and its safe bet it will be fun

I heard Titan will feature Spongebob and those evil cartoon ponies. There is absolutely no reason to worry about that game! Please don't ask me for a source on that one...

I'm happy that I wasn't the only one that knew about this. Other then Rexxar the Pandaren Brewmaster was the best thing about WC3.

The only problem I have about this xpac is it is way to late, I quit before wotlk xpac and have no plans of going back to WoW.

I'll quote what I wrote in another forum about you people who obviously have no idea about Pandaran lore:

"They were in WC3, they were part of the story"...

    LOL...

The ACTUAL history was they were ORIGINALLY created as one of Blizz's EPIC April Fool's Pranks.  BECAUSE of the public reaction they were added to WC3.

So get that straight.. they started as a JOKE.   Now Blizz is adding them in all seriousness.  Why not add the permadeath wisp?  That was intriguing atleast.

The other issue I have is that if they would have been added during B.C. like they were originally thought to have, they wouldn't have been ridiculed as much.  Kung Fu Panda was not released until 2008, B.C. released in 2007.   It would have been a SAFE choice.

Releasing it AFTER 2 Kung Fu Panda movies makes it subject to ALL the possible ridicule it deserves.

What blizzard did with them to start with has nothing to do with their ingame lore. You're a bit confused about what lore is. The 'ACTUAL' history is not the warcraft ingame history/lore. So really you're touching on a different topic altogether.

    No it wouldn't.

If anything, logic would dictate they wouldn't want to make two "kid's games" as you call it because they'd compete against each other.

Titan is already stated to be a "casual mmo" and considering how far out of release it is, you worrying about this now is weird.

Frankly, I am waiting for Blizzard's announcement that they bought Hanna-Barbera Productions.

Yogi & Boo Boo Bear-en? Anyone?

I don't think many are arguing whether the pandas were a part of the Warcraft lore as much as how silly it comes across making them this big a part of the World of Warcraft game. When I watched the video all I could think was, "Did WoW just get bought out by Perfect World?" because I felt like I was watching a trailer for it. The talent re-do was enough to make me finally leave WoW and the Pandas just added to the list.

I dont understand the fuss -- Panderen seem no worse than the worgen which had even less WC lore

Wasnt Gilneas and his worgens already in the game at release of vanilla? Im sorry Im not bothering to go through the whole lore to find when they where originally added to the story. The only odd twist is them now finding a way to restore their sanity.

But I dont see how them adding this race makes WoW an even more kiddy game then it already is.

I honestly don't understand what's bad about having Pandaren in the game...

    ... Pandas = awesome...

    ... Kung Fu = awesome...

Awesome + Awesome = 2(awesome) = twice the value of awesome. It's simple mathematics, folks.

Besides, comparing kung fu pandas with ugly shadowcasting midgets? I'd go with kung fu panda any day of the week. Also, this allows them to explore another cultural template, and can lead to some creative game elements. Amazingly enough, I'm as bad as they come when speaking of WoW naysayers. But how is it I find myself defending WoW with their new design choices for Mists of Pandaria? I'll no doubt be playing Guild Wars 2 if it's released by then, but I might hop on WoW and try out the new pet battles system, dungeons challenges and, of course, the pandas!

I meant worgen have less lore in the Warcraft RTS game series  (predating wow)

but yes WOW Classic had Gilneas and werewolves -- but its still a stretch as a race

Oh I fully agree, but then again blizard is no stranger on bending lore. They are being added from a marketing point of view , not based on lore.  Ogres and high elves would have made far more sense to be added as playeble race then any race they have added.. with the exception of goblins.

I dont mind the pandas being added, though personally I would have gone with different races or atleast give each faction 1 new race.

I have other concerns with the direction of the game, but thats a different discussion all together.

I think lore has become a lower concern nowadays. I mean "lorelol" is being used to describe wow's lore enough to show how little the lore means to the franchise nowadays. But personally, my opinion, i thought worgen kinda looked bad-ass. (ok they had quite silly emotes that annoyed a lot of people like "sniffing" but they looked ok)

But ya panda's... i think that's the main issue people have.

I had thought the Pandaren to be like the cow level in D2.

Hmm you do bring up a good point, if panda players are their new target audience then what does that say about Titan?
