So no BETA invite but....

they're letting the press give full BETA access reviews?  For those of us that pre-ordered right away but still are sitting on our thumbs, I think this is a slap in the face.  The game is 2 months from release and it's gonna be in freakin' open BETA by the time some of us get invites it seems.  What a pathetic marketing scam.

Or, DON'T WORRY!  We'll get ya in one 2 day closed BETA weekend!  The last one!

If they don't have the capacity to hold all the pre-purchases by this point, their infrastructure is in some serious trouble.

Very valid point, and I bet they don't have anything to say to that either... hopefully they don't have issues at launch. I personally haven't pre-ordered yet still considering.

Sorry, you are not entitled to test the game.

The beta is not a trial.

There will be no open beta.

They did well with me:) they let me play the first week, then reinvited because of initial latency issues.  That reinvite really made me take the game more seriously (buying it, that is).

no such thing as open beta. bioware and EA both stated there will be no open beta. all pre-order players get to play a week early but no OPEN BETA.

The no open beta thing confuses me.  MMO's are an investment. in this day and age there's a , trial, demo, beta, for everything. if your confident in your product why not let people try before they buy. the game has me interested but not enough to spend 60$ on it before i can try it. theres not many things in life that i buy without having some sort of usage before i spend my money

"...Get to play a week early..."  have you got  a link to back that up?

Oh and about that "open beta" thing... the ONLY reason they are doing it that way is so they can try to keep the negative impressions to a bare minimum.  Which means they really have no confidence in the quality of their game, and for good reason.  Because BioWare is unsure about how to do a really good MMORPG, and EA are anal retentive about PR.

    I'm in New Zealand, We don't exist to EA/Origin ..so I don't expect a beta invite ...

As someone who hasnt preordered and has played a beta weekend, I can not talk about all the awesomeness you will be missing. I cant tell you if the game is high or low quality.  I cant talk about why im looking forward to December, and no, I dont much care for WoW, but ive been playing MMO's since Kunark of EQ1.

They were actually testing west coast servers last weekend for Australia and New Zealand and I believe the invites went out to Australians, New Zealanders and West Coast North America.

And there will not be an open beta for SWTOR.  The beta is for players to help them test, not to try the game out... beta invites are random if you signed up on the site.

    No bitchers.

There was never any promise that pre-orders get in to the beta. The two are entirely independent.

Besides, getting in to beta is a double-edge sword. You may get to see the game early, but if you love it, then you have to wait 2 more months to play it again. ...I know first hand, and it's rough.

I did find it odd, my buddy is a huge Star Wars fan and ordered the collectors on the first day, he hasn't gotten an invite yet.

I look at it two ways....They know they got someone that pays $125 or $150, whatever it is...Or they were just being cryptic/misleading on people getting perfered status for getting on board early.

I haven't preordered yet, kind of waiting till NDA drops, for some reason, even though its silly, I probably am getting it anyway, since I quit Rift / UO, GW2 isn't out yet, and I got friends playing it.

Oh look, more entitled whining on the forums about SWTOR *feigns surprise*

    1) You are NOT entitled to a beta invite.

    2) Beta =/= Free Trial

    3) There is no open beta.

    4) No one but Bioware/EA knows when or how long early access is.

Or the way they are actually doing it. It is called random invites. I bought the CE on day one and have been in both beta weekends. And prefered status is for the early access of the game. First to enter their code will be in the first wave of early access, not beta.

And open betas are for selling your game and increasing hype. Both of which TOR doesn't need.

    No Invite recieved here...

Like I'm not surprised..I also haven't heard from any of my gaming mates here in NZ or AU (and there are a lot) that they got an 'invite' either. Sounds like more EA Bullshirt to me.. as a matter of fact haven't seen many posts from NZ/AU that got 'invites'. This sound like more EA damage control because 1000's of NZ'er and AU's cancelled pre-orders.

Or maybe they just sent them to USA West Coast Green Zone....

They're not even allowing the media to post full beta reviews. Press can only talk about the first 15 levels or so. Obviously the bulk of the reviews should be decent since the early levels of any mmo are usually the most polished.

The game isn't finished and I'm sure players are going to notice the lack of polish in later levels and endgame. You can tell Bioware didn't want to release in 2011. There's no way their long term master plan had them launching the game 5 days before Christmas. EA forced their hand and now we're getting a rushed game that probably should be delayed a few more months.  And we all know what happens to mmos that come out before they're ready...

playing beta will just ruin the story for you, dont feel too bad.

I know thats how everything reads and is explained now, but at first, they were not as clear asnd a little cryptic...Doesn't matter to me, I am in non-preorder status, but I am signed up for beta on the site...Be cool to get in and see it, as I have never played KOTOR, so not really sure what to expect as a person that has never really liked voice over/cut scene stuff, but I have not seen the way they do it to be fair, since they are considered very good or the best at it.

Thats fine but alot will be just like me if we don't get in before release we will simply cancel our pre-order and play something else. The days of me paying for a game on the premise that it might be good is over with.If I am not worthy enough to be in your beta then you surely don't need  or want my money or my buisness.
