Skyrim Strat Guide is 650 pages!

Has anyone else seen this?  http://yfrog.com/oew3m8j

It was tweeted by Prima Games.  650 pages seems insane for a guide book.  The Oblivion guide was only about 370 pages.

Can anyone throw up some other games with strategy guides this long?

I think I should note that even with the strategy guide so big, I still wont buy it.  Games are more fun when you dont have something telling you whats going to happen, when it will happen, and how to take care of it.

That's pretty damn big.  I don't understand the draw of print strategy guides anymore.  Most info can be easily found online if you really need it.  I am the same way, would prefer to figure it out myself, but I have been known to use the might google to search for some answers if I am really stuck :)  Can't say I have ever bought one of the Prima guides.

    Fallout 3 is 752 pages...

    http://www.amazon.com/Fallout-Game-Year-Official-Guides/dp/076156327X/ref=sr_1_50?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1319771530&sr=1-50

Most guides for "bigger games" though, tend to fall into the 200-350 page range.  The Fallout Vegas book was only 448.

I miss the MMORPG genre. Will a developer ever make one again?

Sounds like Bethesda still makes games that aren't dumbed down.

    I approve.

The hardcover guide is incredibly cheap right now:

    http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/0307891402/ref=as_li_ss_tl?ie=UTF8&tag=httpbetterand-20

    It's $23, and $16 for the paperback.

I know some are concerned with spoilers, but as someone posted in another forum:

I see you haven't read any other TES guides :) They contain a LOT more than 'spoilers'- they have class guides (when there were classes), race and lore info, lots of the original art, notes from the designers, etc. They have armor/weapon charts, alchemy charts, all sorts of info on creatures and the world...

You could read the heck out of it and not touch a single quest helper if that's your choice.

Hm, that is pretty tempting the.  I love the art from these fantasy games.  And its a cool peice to have on the shelf (At least to me).

You're not judging the depth or complexity of a game based on it's strategy guide are you?

Once again, tempting! But I mustn't forget: DLC.
That alone is making me Wait Before Buying.

Not gonna bother with a Skyrim Strat Guide.  Because on the PC, you know full well that there will be mods that can change things.  Which is fine by me!  It'll only be really good for the vanilla game, at least until modders get a better grasp of the editor.

We need support, but it is almost suicide to try to get it here as we are swept by machine gun fire and a constant barrage is on us. I have no one on my left and only a few on my right. I will hold." If i would never buy such books or look up on net for guides, for me it would then purely for collector purpose only i would never look into book after i finishe game on hardest settings.

But i never look for walthroughs cheats or any info that could help solve and finish the game. I play game 100% without any clues solved all by my self.

Dumbed down? i swear people love using these words even if they are completely irrelevant to the topic at hand.

Wow, must have been a whole lot of fluff.

Personally I can't fathom why anyone would need a strategy guide to begin with for single player rpg's but meh, I guess they also have lore, backgrounds and immersion value.

So long I think I'd need a strategy guide to help me to read that strategy guide or I couldn't make it.
