Curious... I want to add two games to that list.
Earth and Beyond - EA's cancellation created a deep hatred within me of them...lol.
Auto Assault - I pre-ordered the CE of this game. I was so looking forward to it. Had a good beta. Launches... "Hey, is anybody else here?"
Damn it, a 43rd? Heh, not 40 or less - but I saw your thing about Street Fighter. I almost flunked out of college when I found the recroom and started playing Street Fighter 2 instead of going to classes...
I miss the MMORPG genre. Will a developer ever make one again?

God thats all I can think of off the top of my head.
I don't think I can actually. Sometimes I really love a game but think a one that should be similarly good is just meh.
I loved Daggerfall, but felt Oblivion was pretty boring.
I loved the first Diablo, but overplayed it so I thought D2 was just so-so.
I loved Neverwinter nights (BWs) but thought NWN 2 was so-so (like DA 1 & 2).
I know what I like once I try it, but it is kinda hard to explain.
I misses my old C-64 and Amiga, from the time when there actually released a few fun games at least every month, now it is fewer in a year than that.
I have it pretty hard to define myself through games or music made by other people, even if it is stuff I like.
Before reading, here's a short history of me and gaming:
1. Had a NES, Genesis, SNES as a kid. Often played with siblings and/or friends.
2. Later had my own PC. PC > Consoles for me, then and now.
3. Have a PS, PS2 - played, but barely finished any thing. No impact to me.
4. Got a PS3, XBOX - bought, but rarely even played any thing. I just felt like buying them even without time to play.
Streets of Rage (First and last beat-em up)
Tiny Toon Adventures (First platformer I beat and enjoyed. Sorry Sonic!)
Phantasy Star II (My intro to RPGs)
Herzog Zwei (My intro to the Strategy genre. HA! A console strategy game, who would have thought?)
Warcraft II (My intro to the Strategy genre - using a mouse. Read the manual to bits. Actually loved the lore as a kid.)
Civilization (Classic)
Heroes of Might and Magic II & III (Skeptical at first, got hooked instantly)
Settlers II (A hidden gem)
Final Fantasy VI (Kefka and that Octopus guy.)
Lufia I & II (Love these connected stories, no matter how cheesy. Underrated.)
Day of the Tentacles (My intro to Adventure games)
Toonstruck (Underrated)
Curse of Monkey Island (Murray!)
C&C: Red Alert (Intro to online gaming - 28.8kbps@Westwood Online)
Age of Empires (56kbps@MSN Zone)
Dark Reign (Underrated. Story and gameplay. Played this to bits in Active Online)
Diablo (I remember my dad telling me not to play this. Heh.)
Starcraft (Warcraft II - Diablo - This. Officially became a Blizzard fan - not a fanboy, but respect to them. Great games.)
Utopia (My intro to browser turn-based strategy games.)
Kingdom of Drakkar (My intro to MMO. This is before UO or Meridian.)

Nice! I love reading these replies. Its like looking at a video gamer's dna.
@VirusDancer:
Ah the majesty of c64 and the 2600. So many fond memories. I think that time was just pure unfiltered discovery. We played platformers, puzzles, adventure, fighting and rts before they even had a clearly defined genre. Karateka, oh man! I should have listed that one heh.
@ActionMMORPG:
Definitely can tell that you have a clear vision of what you like. Probably why you're also a producer!
@banecrow you are a 100% bonifide rpg junkie haha that's awesome.
@Loke666 you don't need to worry about trying to explain why you like or don't like a game. Just write down games that you've loved and it will explain itself.
@cybersurfr:
I'm definitely with you there on Streets of Rage and Heroes of Might and Magic II. I still fire up HOMM2 once a month for some Necro goodness.
keep em comin folks!

There isn't a "right" or "wrong" way to play, if you want to use a screwdriver to put nails into wood, have at it, simply don't complain when the guy next to you with the hammer is doing it much better and easier. - Allein
