I'd just like to add something people are forgetting here - vehicles in other games (Planetside/SWG for example) are external entities that a player's avatar attaches to. In Anarchy Online though, vehicles are actually an illusion that turns your character into the vehicle, scales the character size down, and gives your character 'flight'. Awhile back there were occasions when a character with a yalm would appear to other people as an extremely tiny version of themselves in Quantum Wings (MP flight) animation. This is because the scale-down and flight effects were applied, but not the new model.
The scale-down also is the reason why classic yalms are so tiny that they couldnt possibly fit a normal player.
Basically the only way it's even possible for Funcom to add multi-passenger vehicles is with a brand new engine, which hopefully will see the light of day sooner or later.
