i never had to register to d/L O_O just had to enter the fom portal one which doesnt work
lol i understand it hasnt started yet but do u know that when it does do we have to create an ingame account etc or use thefom portal one?

Given that the post you were quoting was like 2 hours before yours how do you know that the forums weren't still up when he said it????
If you really are so desperate to keep an eye on the site, login to the main site (not the forum) and look at your account settings. It tells you there that you will need to register for an Open Beta account when it's available.

Uh, yes. Becuase I checked the forums before I came here to MMORPG. As a matter of fact I had to refresh 12 times just to get the homepage again to cut and paste that message. I can multitask without being an assnugget. It's really quite an amazing skill.
No offense intended to you at all Dirk since you actually answered the questions without being a putz. I just hate forum members like the numbnut I quoted who think they are the high and mighty elite of the world. I just figure someone can either answer a question with a little respect or ignore it. It must just be me but my web browser doesn't have that "Must answer every thread even if my comment is pointless lest my head explode or aliens abduct and probe my family" button. I guess I just don't have that urgency.

Yeah.....but you evidently can't do it very quickly.
If you had actually paid attention to what was happening instead of just wading in and being offensive you would know that last night it was established on the FoMk boards by one of the devs that it was unlikely that the OB would be live before the evening of the 31st CET. Something that the original poster would also have known had he done what he was originally told to, rather than just asking the same question over and over.

I've just got the page frozen at my profile. Though it is the Homepage that is having the trafficking issues so that's not much more useful since you have to F5 it about 20 times to get a connection. However, I think the original poster was more curious is there was a timeframe today ( which we cannot see now on the official forums ) and what the actual process was to create the in-game account ( since the profile page only says "Open beta starts Monday 31st of January, you will be able to create a free game account then" ). Not at all too informative. Either way I am not in a rush. I just hate to see someone else flamed becuase they're not " checking the official forums" which are "officially" down.

He got "flamed" as you put it because the homepage wasn't down when he said it and there have been loads of threads on the official forums asking exactly the same thing he was for the last 20-odd hours.

Firstly, I am curious where you are getting your obviously misinformed timetable. It's 9:48AM here for me. I just got up not too long ago. So barring timezones, no I did not get up at 7:49am to check the forums. I checked the forums here at MMORPG.com and FoM concurrently. Hence "multitasking".
Second, I was or am not aware whether or not the original poster was around the Official Forums last night. I can say without doubt I wasn't. I wasn't even around a computer. Thus any information given out on the Official Forums at that time would be fairly moot in this case. Mind you I wasn't the one who came here screaming as to when the beta would start. I am not that concerned. I am here to converse with other MMORPG community members.
Third, and most important, as I said I am here to converse with fellow community members. Let it be said that I do not believe God will kill a kitten everytime I don't answer a thread. That being said I cannot nor will not justify the concept of unwarranted flaming. Instead of Def's arrogant post he could have just as easily not hit that pretty little "post message" button. If you are trying to jusifty "flaming" you are wasting your breath.
I suppose the basic business concepts are lost on most MMORPG players. If they weren't they'd realise that being prickmonkies to fellow or new community members is bad for business. Welcome the ones you like. Ignore those you don't. It's not really that hard a business practice. I can understand some commentary where it's extremely warrented. I used to work in retail as a kid and people would actually ask "Where are the new releases?" with the blazzing neon "New Releases" sign 10 feet behind their head. If someone doesn't bother looking before they ask, they've got a little bit coming to them. But even then my head won't explode if I don't say something. Being an ass on the other hand, let alone an ironic ass in this case, is very hard for me to ignore.

The original posters question was answered and he obviously didn't understand/missed where it was answered (in the 3 threads he started) so had it pointed out to him bluntly to avoid confusion.
The only flaming in the thread came from somebody who stropped into the thread and called another forum member an "assnugget". No, I will not justify flaming, that is childish and unacceptable.
Except forum members are not employees they are also customers. If you are a customer in a shop and another customer comes up and asks you about the New Release you will show them the neon sign once and if they then come back 2 minutes later and ask the same question you will be much more blunt with them so it doesn't happen again.
