I suggest you watch the trailer, since that the most of Orthanc you will see in this expansion.
Are you sure you played through the Epic quests? You see the inside of Orthanc before you even get to the Gap of Rohan.
Largely disagree with just about all you said, but I do agree about the Gap. Its "unfinishedness" is glaring. In the mine for example, you would fall through the mine rails even when walking dead center of them. They fixed that in the last build, though.
Yes i did see the dungeons of Orthanc, 1-2h of running from A to B getting bored and hoping to find an orc to kill to get run speed. Ye i did it all. I was grimar for a few mins which was the best part of the whole story.
Go back to Angmar and do the whole book there and see what level of details it use to have, not this get x shield x meet.

If i lied to you, convinced you to by a product of me based on a lot of lies, or atleast made the product sound a whole lot better than it is. You realize this after you payed for it, would you contact me to say "its oki i respect you man!" or would you contact me to get your money back?
And its not only this expansion, its been ongoing really. I always had huge problems accepting that this company probably is the stupist when its down to making items in their game. Let a 12 year old play diablo for 2h and he can do a better job than turbine. Half their items make no sense. a purple items can be better than a teal, a level 70 can be better than a 75. back in SOA the best hunter cloak was a cloak from a level 22 quest .. whoever makes items in that company only have half a brain.
I think LOTRO is a decent game (haven't played the new expansion) but the truth is after how they handled Asheron's Call 2, I have a difficult time trusting Turbine. I really enjoyed Asheron's Call 2 and when they got sole control of the game, I had high hopes for it. Was super excited when they announced the expansion for the game and then it got released and 1-2 months later (not sure of the specific time frame) they announced they were shutting down the game. Personally, I think they knew they were shutting down the game before the expansion came out and if true, that's just kind of shitty. You know?
So, look at the history of the company. Asheron's Call is pretty much dead and has been for many years. Asheron's Call 2 is dead. Then you have both DDO and LOTRO while not bad games couldn't survive on a traditional model and were forced to go F2P. So honestly, I wouldn't put too much faith in the company. I meah... come on. How hard is it to make two of the biggest franchises ever (Lord of the Rings and Dungeons and Dragons) successful in an online world but somehow they struggled to make these two games financially successful.

Amen to that. I was really a LOTRO aficionado at heart, but I have been so disappointed by RoI.
Indeed, the expac should have been called Dunland, as most of it is in fact Dunland (which is by the way a rehashed version of Enedwaith) and you see almost nothing of Rohan and little of Isengard.
Speaking of Isengard, as said by OP, coming inside the courtyard and having only five dailies. I mean seriously? I was SO insulted by this.
In fact, the whole expansion seems half-done and rushed. Starting from the Gap of Rohan, everything goes downhill: the Epic abruptly stops with a complete anti-climatic ending, Rohirrims acting voices are not even finished (Mae Govannen from a Rohirrim, lmao), the Pit of Iron is bugged, to speak nothing about Isengard...
And don't let me start on the soloification of the game. Everything is solo now, they even encourage you to go solo (more monsters XP and solo-only instances), most of the quests are the usual kill ten orcs/Uruk/Wolves/Wargs.
I feel honestly ripped off by the "expansion" which is in fact the size of a free update.

totally agree.isengard is a big disappointment for me..no group stuff.revamped stuff from lvl65 ..i dont mind stuff being lvl scaled but i did expect some group stuff that was new.not a thing.then there is the usual..kill 10 wargs ,10 wolves..boring as hell.c'mon turbine get a grip..its not even an mmo anymore..its a solo rpg.
the first thing wb did was put the store in. Then f2p. Then cranked up the endless advertisements i dont think the superbowl could compete with the amount of advertising lotro does lolz you go to login put in your pass and name and theres advertisements you then go into a loading screen and theres advertisements there then u go to your character selection finally lol.
Well i had close to100 or so people in tor weekend beta that have all pre ordered plus an additional 41 kinships on my server lotros gonna be tumbleweed city dec 15th the 20th is gonna be ouch gw 2 will remove whats left
this dec update is new raids with more gear most have some of the dragon set now first ages (middle earth bongs for the stoners) that do 2 percent more dmg lol
So hmm more rehashed content and more gear people dont need or want i should say so first ages that are one again good next xpac only as usual...sigh
funniest thing i heard is the new creep skins thats gonna cause more lag b/c the creeps will look different now and have to load in there textures like the freeps have to all along so that will be load wars unless all the creeps ditch thier skin for defualt ones so they wont lag and look the same as they do know just lolz bout that.
Hey we got a bird and tree pvp development at its finest who needs a new map?
I was also dissapointed.. but you seem a bit biased. Especially since you forgot to mention that Turbine said that before the end of the year, 7 new instances will be released with update 5 and will be free to all people who purchased RoI.
Yeah. And in typical Turbine fashion they are flipping things over again. Feedback on Bullroarer is absolutely dismal. Why, or why do people continue to think Turbine is going to make things better when for two solid years (half the life of LOTRO) they continue to make things worse.
Honestly you should see the feedback on Update 5. It is a joke (more so than even RoI was).
Turbine is lost and I honestly believe, at this point, WB has set an end date for LOTRO and wants to allocate Turbine resources somewhere else (or already has therefore explaining the pathetic content update in 2011). At this point there is only one thing left to do - sucker as much cash from the player base as possible.

Honestly, if you dont like it its fine, and that doesnt mean everyone dont like it.
I was lvl60 in 5 days(didnt even rush it), reading and doing all quests, after which i was left with radiance grind, legendary grind, and 1 lair raid boss for 7-8 months. And of course i had to deal with total brakdown of the community and mass quitage of people cause of radiance issue. After wihich there was really no point of playing any more cause community went away, there was absolutely stale content that was bugged/exploited to hell...
Yah, every persons dream. Take off rose-colored galsses. Logged in on few "welcome back weeks" before Mirkwood. It was sad affair. Thats how good Moria was.
Of course if you play 1 hour/week it lasted...for a while.
LEVEL 60 IN 5 DAYS?????? Gimme a freaking break, what did you do? Did you lock yourself in your mom's basement? There is no way in hell that you could have made level 60 in 5 days or you mean 5 24 hours of play time? If you take the time to do the deeds and the quests and get your crafting going and get your relation with all the races to a kindred itakes a whole lot more than 5 days to make 60, gimme a freaking break, people that rush through the game and then find themselves at cap level and cant figure out what to do deserve what they get. This is not a game to rush trough, this is a game to play and enjoy.

I had 5 lvl 50 characters by the time Moria hit. That was my 3rd lvl 60. Going through same quests for 6th/3rd time enjoyment of leveling is somewhat washed out and i wanted max level warden. Yes, i had week off in january, first week of new year, and i played a lot, snow in the city isnt best time to go out and enjoy lol.

Where is this joke/abbysmal feedback on U5? You have some private forums? since it sure aint on official forums.
Honestly, if you dont like it its fine, and that doesnt mean everyone dont like it.
Your correct, not everyone doesn't like it, but a vast majority have had it which is why on official forums there is currently a thread entitled "Where has everyone gone?".
Also, to answer your question, yes there are other forums out there where people are discussing their true feelings about U5, especially with the change in currency meant to drive players, yet again, to the store. Of course you won't find it on official forums since Turbine is censoring their boards like never before in their history to make everything seem wonderful and rosy when it is anything but.
Plain and simple, a vast majority of long time players are fed up with Turbine and have left for good. Those remaining only need look at their friends list to see how long it has been since many have logged in.

Oh really, how will curreny consolidation "drive players to the store" lol. Please elaborate, as, i guess in your mind, anything that Turbine does will somehow "drive you to the store". And, FYI, debate about converson has been pretty heated and non censured, yah i see your exuse why theres no wtfpwn number of "complain threads, "they just delete everything". Have any actual proof of that, what threads and how many were deleted?
They put new instace cluster ingame. -> Yah, only to drive you to the store.
They put new landmass in. -> Yah, only to drive you to the store.
Most of the people left after MoM debacle and what Turbine did to the game. Theres barely any longterm players left because of that.
I have to agree with the general consensus. It is an underwhelming expansion. Everything seems more obviously recycled. The music, the scenery, the enemies. I know there's some who say if it isn't broke then don't fix it, but LOTR the book was about a journey and seeing new things. Not the same old same old. Meh, maybe I've just been playing too long. Mirkwood seemed 'more' and that was only an extra five levels.
ROI was a ripoff. Very dumb move by Turbine that may spell the doom of their game. I have been very supportive of this game both financially and verbally. That ended with ROI. They need to hit one out of the park to get people back after this disaster. And the update was absolutely horrible. It's as if they are trying to ruin the game.

A lot of us left when the game went F2P. Ive been back about a month now and find the cash shop as unintrusive of any F2P game ive played, a much better set up than EQ2. I would like to see what items people are calling P2W. As a premium player I had a ton of TP when I returned. I bought some bank space and three quest packs for my alts with the Turbine points and after Christmas will buy the ROI xpac. People are pretty vocal about not liking it but I see a lot of players in the game at all levels, so perhaps the doom and gloom is perhaps sour grapes? Whatever it is I dont see the demise of LOTRO anytime soon.
Really? This game sucks and Im not having fun? Im going to unsub right now. Thanks for the tip.
The game is definitely better than before it hit F2P, in terms of player base.
But the real problem is what it has been since Moria - not enough new content on a regular basis. Isengard didn't really help much. And at $30 (or $40 in terms of points) it's hardly a great deal for anyone.

No one is disputing that content has been slow in coming and I was very vocal about the size of Mirkwood. However, the game is now F2P and $30 for ROI, to me, isnt a lot to pay considering it will take my main and my highest alt to level cap without any more expense. I have purchased a $20 TP card and used it along with my accrued TP to purchase Misty Mountains and Eregion for my biggest alt and also Enedwaith for my main and alt when he gets there. Another $30 for ROI and I have a lot of playtime before me without spending any more cash as mine is a premium account with MOM and Mirkwood long paid for. If and when I level another alt, I will have accrued enough points for deeds to purchase Troll Shaws and perhaps North Downs and will then have a clear path to level cap for that toon as well. Considering $60 for a single player game or $50 or $60 for the latest wow clone, I feel pretty good about spending $50 on a game that I know I enjoy.
Really? This game sucks and Im not having fun? Im going to unsub right now. Thanks for the tip.
Yeh I didnt think RoI was that good in terms of content but that doesnt stop me wanting to play... LOTRO is the only MMO ever to keep my attention for more than a month, been playing since '09 and I will probably still be here till the servers close....
I know LOTRO has lost subs due to SW:TOR, it was bound to...
I spent £183 over the holidays buying pretty much every game I ever wanted on steam during the sale, yet I am still playing LOTRO right now... lol

Yeah, but we don't know yet if they will come back or not.
The Hobbit movie could get new blood in, or new games like GW2 might draw more out instead, really hard to say.
But they really should put some more work into the next expansion than this one, the competition is getting harder and harder now.

Completely argee with that statment, but at the end of the day... im happy with LOTRO and thats all that matters to me.

R.I.P. City of Heroes and my 17 characters there
No one is disputing that content has been slow in coming and I was very vocal about the size of Mirkwood.
