A new guide made by Nalfin @ Teraonline.com.
First of all I suggest you read my
Level 58 Warrior Guide so you have a better understanding of the class.
In this thread I will upload videos of myself soloing each of TERA's BAM.
Disclaimer: Please note the following important points: - This is a series of videos that will show how and what you should use to solo BAMS, I made sure to pick videos that have plenty of mistakes in them so you can see how you can recover from them.
- I am doing this to share my experience with the rest of the community, nothing more and nothing less.
- All BAMs shown are the highest level version of that specific BAM. Some BAMs only go up to level 50 or so, as such I have put a video of myself at level 50 soloing the specific BAMs.
- I am playing with high latency (300-400 ms) as I play KTERA from North America.
- As a result I get hit by attacks I would be able to dodge if I had normal latency (1-100 ms).
- The name of BAMs I use are the common names used by the English speaking community that plays on KTERA. The names are most likely not going to all be the same in WTERA when they will be translated.
- If those videos gather enough attention from the community I might re-upload them with an audio commentary.
Now there are still many BAMs left for me to show you. I will record and upload a video of the BAMs that people most want to see first. Just look at the parts were there is a picture and not a video, then tell me which BAM you want me to fight, film and upload next.
Special Thanks to Deioth for the formatting and editing of all this. Basilisk The first ever BAM type encountered in the game will remain a common sight in the game all the way to max level. They have a ton of HP at high level so they are usually left untouched.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fGBVG8xF-0s Frost Giant Those things used to have so much HP that no one bothered to touch them but now they have so little that they make the most out of my BAM grinding diet. They still hit like freight trains though
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uHxuoTqCr9w Minotaur Been a while since I tried to solo one of those so this will be mistakes after mistakes. A good video to show how to Shade + Bandage as an efficient recovery method.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CAYgIEs5TnU Tail For lack of a better name we call those things tails. I know that after seeing the 20 sec sorcerer video that this might look bad but hey Tanks can have fun too. Enjoy!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K9Dg7Gkp0d0 Ant Some people love those, I do not! Model is too big for its hit box (check me whiff in the air multiple times during the video). Still plenty of those in the game, might as well learn to solo them.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n2UwRpFdDFM Crab This video was done back before warriors got a ton of changes so this was done hard mode. I will not re-upload another video since there is no higher level crabs in the game. Nonetheless this video shows you what is needed to solo a crab.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IwclAXymaEQ Medusa This is not solo, I was with a healer. If you really want me to show you a video were I solo a Medusa I will do it, but the video would be the same except last a bit longer. Once again no higher level versions exist so I wont re-upload this. I could go ahead and solo a lvl 50 one but that would not be a good indicative of what the fight is all about. Basically stay at its back and get out of the Bladestorm.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0hOgb2GDCj8 Hermit Crab Soloing video will be filmed and uploaded at a later date.
Eyeball Eyeballs - This next installment of the series used to be the worst BAM in the game for Warriors, i say used to because my face was later introduced to Balrogs (next video). Id never thought id solo an eyeball voluntarily but since i said i would solo every BAM in the game i practiced it some in order to bring you this video.
In the video you should be able to see how horribly small the hitbox is compared to the sheer size of the model. Enjoy
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cMNw0z3NWvc Golem Soloing video may be filmed and uploaded at a later date. This is a group video. For now I am just putting it up so you have an idea of what the BAM is like. If you really want I will upload a solo video.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WbmExntZoFg Spider Soloing video will be filmed and uploaded at a later date.
Kuma Soloing video will be filmed and uploaded at a later date.
Centaur Soloing video may be filmed and uploaded at a later date. This is a group video. For now I am just putting it up so you have an idea of what the BAM is like. If you really want I will upload a solo video.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wE_nJ9ntZY8 Slug Soloing video will be filmed and uploaded at a later date.
Drake Soloing video may be filmed and uploaded at a later date. This is a group video. For now I am just putting it up so you have an idea of what the BAM is like. If you really want I will upload a solo video.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PRXo0iF_RYo http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qJHlioqPzls Reaper Soloing video may be filmed and uploaded at a later date. This is a group video. For now I am just putting it up so you have an idea of what the BAM is like. If you really want I will upload a solo video.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MkY_llcNdkw DarkKnight Soloing video will be filmed and uploaded at a later date.
Balrog Balrog - First an apology, this is not the hardest version of this BAM; there is a level 59 world boss one but i have yet to be able to find it up let alone have time to practice it. Anyway this is probably the most complex BAM currently in TERA, lots of moves and a lot of counters you need to learn in order to survive against one. I hate fighting those but i do love the complexity and the range of attacks they have.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CaFNZOaS6dQ Badger Soloing video will be filmed and uploaded at a later date. Only if you really want to.

Although I applaud you for putting so much effort into this post. TERA was only released in Korea, and won't be in NA until at LEAST December 2013. So you're only going to get a LOT of drooling blubberfaces crying over such an article mainly because they cannot play it !

Producer Letter: Launch Timing Update
Hello TERA faithful! My name is Chris “Chager” Hager, and I’m the North American producer for TERA. I’ve got some exciting news to share today about what we’ve been up to this year so far, as well as what we’ll be doing for the rest of 2011 and 2012.
TERA has had a busy 2011, and the year's barely half over! After successful showings at CES and GDC, we unveiled the game's political system at E3, where we received several awards and even more nominations.
The big news I’ll be sharing today is our launch timing! That’s right folks, we are ramping up for a spring 2012 launch date. Our focus has always been on launching TERA when it’s ready, so you can take heart knowing that we feel we’re getting close enough to announce our launch window. Let me explain, in further detail, what we’ll be doing between now and spring 2012.
Later this year we will begin our alpha testing. For those who aren’t yet familiar with this term, alpha testing is essentially small-scale testing with people outside the company, with the goal of collecting feedback on specific game features. An alpha test has the added benefit of allowing our internal teams to practice running a game in a “live” environment, so when the beta phase starts in early 2012, TERA will be operating like a well-oiled machine.
During our alpha, we'll test PvP server settings, overall progression, quest feedback, BAM (big-ass monster) fights, our brand new platform (account management), and a lot of other things that we’ll talk about in greater detail later this year. In addition to testing new systems and Western features, we’ll also fine-tune existing systems with our players in mind. Once all of these systems are in place, it's important to us that we get user feedback prior to our beta phase.
“Wait, did you say beta in early 2012?” Why yes, yes I did. Once we complete the alpha phase, we'll incorporate that feedback into the client, polish any new content, and then start beta testing early next year. Most of y’all are familiar with betas and how they work; for us, their main purpose is to expose greater numbers of players to TERA so they can experience the incredible action combat system, group up with some friends to take down a BAM or two, and in general enjoy a slice of TERA. We’ll announce specific dates and times for our beta testing when we get a little closer, but the culmination of those beta events will be a launch for TERA in the spring of 2012!
So what does all of this mean for you? We’ll be allowing a few select players to enter our alpha test later this year, and we'll open the door even wider in early 2012 with our beta testing. For details on both of these initiatives, as well as more about the features we’ll be implementing and testing, stop by www.TERA-online.com. As we’ve been discussing the details behind the alpha plan here at En Masse this past week, the excitement has grown palpable! We feel we’re on the right path to deliver a truly epic game to our players and fans.
Thanks!
—Chager
