You have to appreciate the fact that ANet is not rushing their game. They are takign their time because there is so much bype about this game that they want to make sure they deliver on the release date.
Not true most of the time.
Did you ever stop ant think they just advertised to early ?....could be still way behind, and not always polished !
Since this is buy-to-play, they could be making expantions 1,2,3, and 4, all at the same time. So many could chew up all the content, only to have to buy the next expantion pack after just one week.
Just something to tink about.
When i read that, i knew not to take your comment to serious.... using figures like that makes your whole statement meaningless to me.
Best MMO experiences : EQ(PvE), DAoC(PvP), WoW(total package) LOTRO (worldfeel) GW2 (Artstyle and animations and worlddesign) SWTOR (Story immersion) TSW (story) ESO (character advancement)

It's true it's not true most of the time but the landscape is changing. There's been a lot of high profile MMOs who haven't held on to their playerbase due to bad launches. Even being polished isn't enough, a game has to have a ton of content these days to be able to compare to a game like WoW who have already put out multiple expansions. Every indication is that NCSoft is allowing them to spend the extra time and money to not screw this up.
They've never given a release date, so in that regard they really can't be behind. They've said closed beta sometime this year. If that doesn't happen, then they'll be behind. As they've said in their posts, if they're iterating, or they're going for quality and not just functionality, then it's impossible to predict how long anything will take to do.
I have no doubt that there's been some sort of discussion or preliminary sketches in order to decide what they're going to be doing for an expansion. They would need to have something in place so they can put their coders to work immediately and not just have them sitting around while they plan. But they just can't risk delaying the initial offering or making it smaller by dividing up their force in a significant way. The quality of the initial product matters more than anything else and will determine whether they're making expansions for five hundred thousand people or five million people.
Not to mention that releasing an expansion after one week would piss away a ton of the goodwill people have towards ArenaNet.
Let's all hope they don't screw this up somehow.

After that post, it makes me wonder if you stopped to think about it.
All of that being said, we'll be talking about cross profession combos "soon" and definitely before we release information about the final profession (Bucketmancer).
From everything I've heard, bucketmancer is seriously overpowered.
Agreed. Someone posted a preview here and it was a great preview.
But there were a few glaringly annoying things to the author regarding pets. I believe healing them was an issue.
From what I've been able to gather, the design goal of integrating the pet's actions with the Ranger's actions just wasn't being met as far as the devs were concerned. The Ranger had this extra thing running around, and it was more or less useful, but the class hadn't quite achieved the feel of "THE Pet Class".
Charr: Outta my way. Human: What's your problem? Charr: Your thin skin.
Pets would be better if they would stop making them cookie cutter all the time. The only real game that went away from that was Star Wars Galaxies where you actually had to find your pet which can be really tough to find if they were rare. The good pets also posed considerable taming risks as they were also usually in a herd or pack of the vicious beasts. Also, you always wanted to tame a cub instead of an adult first if you were smart. With the bioengineer class you could also create pets with unique abilities.
If you want to be serious about pets then have random stats on pets and also rare, very rare, and unique pets with special abilities. Allow players to breed pets so they can try to improve stats or gain abilities. I'd also not reveal a pets true potential until it was grown into an adult. I wouldn't make this mandatory since admittedly its a bit pokemonish but have it in place for those people that wanted their Albino Grizzly Bear with special Bear Hug attack. Allow people that breed the pets to sell them on the market where their value would be representative to their rarity and the time invested to breed and train the animal. This would give more potential to Ranger pets since they no longer would all be the same and you could not judge what their full capabilities were simply by appearance. It woudl also serve as a vanity item for those wanting odd species or animals with special fur/scale colors.
Right now Ranger pets are just another type of summons. There is no personality or flavor. You'd be just as well off with a flying rock that just falls on your opponent and comes when called. O.o
