I'm actually sad to see they chose to have both RP-PVE and RP-PVP servers. Of course I don't mean to cry doom on shrinking playerbases already but if AoC taught me one thing then it is that this seperating the RP communities over 2 server types is something that can hinder RP enormously and merges of those server types are simply not possible. I do hope the RP communities won't shrink to a size making such cross-server type merges necessary in the forseeable future.
Not sad at all , The PVE-RP is perfect as all the factional PvP areas will be active and available as RP locations as well. This is starting to look great. Now to pick a class so hard to decide they all look so good.

I say we should really try to designate one rp-pvp server as the server to be on, kinda like Wyrmrest Accord in WoW, lets try our best to make this server the best rp-pvp server there is to attract the majority of the rp crowd. I love pvping to be honest, but I also want my rp to be there, and I don't want substandard rp on these servers. I say we should all join the same server, and really make a big push to make it the best rp pvp server there ever was in a game. I am very saddened by the fact that rp-pvp servers usually turn out to be nothing more than pvp servers for those too soft to be able to play on a normal pvp server.
I think the pvpers who come to a rp-pvp server should be dealt with by those who do both. Go to a regular pvp server if you aren't going to rp I say.
We should also make it so that the rp is sooo good on this said server that the rpers who would normally go rp-pve have no choice but to come to it. Star Wars w/o pvp is just plain stupid. And It would be stupid imo without rp.
Tell you this, I am more than willing to play a bounty hunter and start a guild of bounty hunters that takes contracts on non rpers, lol.
I want to really enjoy my RP and PvE environments no need to go for the PvP server as it is just not required all servers have factional PvP areas that fit nicely with the game story and background. There is just no need to play on the PvP flagged servers as it generally will attract the rabble who will want to grief at any cost.
Good move Bioware; RP-PvE with all the factional PvP anyone could ask for. Very very nice.

I think I'll go to the PVP-RP as well. Now I just have to find a good guild.
Same but there is no rush: plenty of solo stuff to do at lower levels. I'll roll on the most populous rp-pvp server and look at what guilds / what people will fit me the best. Might be the the most fun guilds will popup only after launch.
I like very strong themes in RP guilds. To give an example: A Tatooine based guild playing a gang of thugs hired by either republic or empire and all dressing up in sand-people garb and hunting down the enemy faction on their "home planet" on a daily basis. All members should play Tatooine "locals" with appropriate backgrounds, etc.
If there won't be a guild which fits my appetite for rp-based world pvp I'll start my own (... again).

There's plenty of detractors around already so you don't really need to pose as one ;-)
As a matter of fact, the best RP I had was in themepark games like WOW and Lotro, while more sandboxish games like EVE or Fallen Earth ended up lacking in that department. I have no doubt that Swtor will offer plenty of immersion and setting to RP-PVP to our heart's content.
p.s. I even managed to start a succesful and fun rp guild on a non-rp server in WOW. It was great fun to get hated and raged on for world pvp gankage in an OOC way and reply with fully in-character statements.

Thanks man, and yeah I was just foolin' heh. It's always good to see people approach games in creative ways.

So what precisely is the difference between PvE and PvP? As I understand it, each server type has the same exact access to meaningful and meaningfully organized PvP . . . that a PvP server in and of itself will not offer any tangible objective incentive, territory control or attack/defend points.
So what precisely is the difference?

On the plus side, you might miss the chance to meet ppl like Thunderballs on RP PVE servers *g*
on the aspect of pvp i played a game called 12sky2. so bascilly everytime u kill an oppsing faction u get 1cp(CP= contribution point) it was fun cuz it shows off ur kill count on real players but another function it has is that it can be used to buy rare or elite items aka gear, pets, new skills. they should add something like this.
another thing was faction leaders: the leader servered as communcation between its faction but the real function was during invasion time he can talk to everyone and order attacks of course every faction had a power stone total of 4 stones= 4 factions
only way to elect a leader is every after 111 are known as master for example lvl 113=m1, lvl 114=m2 a max is m33 plus god lvls=12
but anyways the voting system goes like this a lvl m1 has one vote a lvl m20 has 20 votes
RP-PVP for me. I think the dynamic on those servers will be much more interesting.
A sure sign that you are in an old, dying paradigm/mindset, is when you are scared of new ideas and new technology. Don't feel bad. The world is moving on without you, and you are welcome to yell "Get Off My Lawn!" all you want while it happens. You cannot, however, stop an idea whose time has come.
Hmmm, I honestly don't know what type of server I'm going to play on. I've never been a fan of PvP, so this has always been an easy decision for me, but I really love the way this game's PvP is looking, so I might want to give it a whirl. I'm also undecided on whether to join an RP server or not.
Like you, I'm not sure either what server to pick. Though I am a fan of PvP, I'm no fan of faction-based PvP (as in SW:ToR, WoW, RIFT and most other MMO's). So I surely won't hop on the PvP server. I might go either to a PvE server or to a RP-PvP server (hoping that there's a more mature player base there that won't engage into PvP each time they see the other side).

I think they should lower the pvp gameplay in a pver server , I mean if I want to pvp ( if any ) I would creat my toon in pvp server from start .

I have a feeling the RP worlds are going to have healthy populations. I plan on finding the most strict RP guild I can find.

RP servers aren't those servers where you have to make your own story ?:))
I would really love to see one !

RP-PvP for sure ^^
In theory, theory and reality are the same. In reality they're not.
"Server types have been oficially anounced by BW. Also the PvP rulesets.
For more infos you can check here : http://www.oldrepublic.net/213-swtor-server-types-pvp-rulesets-announced.html"
I will definitely go for a PvP server. It's a lot more fun :P
