MW2 was my first real CoD title. Noobs don't get to jump in a spawned helicopter and rape your spawn over and over. Instead you are rewarded for kills both in the match and in your career which is awesome. I think it is well balanced so a long time player can't rape you easily and you still have an incentive to level up for the micro "edges" you earn over your opponents.

I skipped Black-ops, and I'm anxious to get back into MW3. My friend and I preordered for Xbox already (PC gamers beware, people are already aimbotting BF3, how long do you think MW3 will remain hack free?). GL HF

Really? Most successful franchise for any online game ever is COD? Do you know how to use Google or Wikipedia? :p

Sure, they are great games and I will get MW3, just to finish off the trilogy, and they are the biggest entertainment releases, but their lifetime sales and popularity pale compared to other games, online or not.

Cityville, D&F Online, Mario Kart, Wii Fit and more are all bigger than COD in lifetime sales.

Too bad that CoD multi-player content is watered down console-ported garbage.

Seems like the only fun servers are actual 'crouch' servers.  Other than that, it's nade spamming, sprint around the map, craptastic ADHD blahhh.

The game needs to go back to at least original Modern Warfare standards... if not before.

Looking for a comfortable medium between MW3 and BF3, tbh.

    ....

Console FPS ... terrible.  Just damned terrible.

Hmmm what worries me OP is that if your first COD game is Black Ops then you aren't yet used to the "Reskinning" that goes on with the series.  Each game feels like the same thing pre-packaged. To be honest, the biggest feature I'm looking forward to if I buy/rent MW3 is:  The new influx of players during the holiday season.

Those games are not online games bob, were talking the internet not consol games made a decade ago that sold alot.  I dont mean it literaly anyway, sure there are some japanese and korean games that have sold a billion copys, there not online games though.

Currently there isnt any other online multiplayer game that sells more then COD series at the moment in americas or in the world I would gather.

The only COD I play is World at War and only for Nazi Zombies. The Black Ops version is kind of blah. Nice lappy btw. Too much money for me though. I almost got a Toshiba Qosmio. But I'm never in a position where I'm situated to play any games on a laptop. And when I do tote around a laptop, its just for taking it to school and using their fast connection for torrenting while I'm in class. But yeah. I've never been a FPS fan. But COD is a great series and a good title to introduce someone who's just getting into FPS. Anyways. Your thread title. I haven't been keeping up. But they're releasing a new CoD?

One thing that baffles me is how they manage to get away with the 59,99 pricetag, when any other PC game is priced 49,99.

ya 65 bux is a bit much for COD game, 39.99 more like it would be more realistic to me since they make so many of them.

Well, Im just wondering where those +10 euros come from? Whats the extra we get? I mean, its not like we are getting some sort of limited edition. Its the standard game.

A bit off topic, but Mario Kart has been playable online since Mario Kart DS AFAIK. Playing Mario Kart Wii online was a lot of a fun, and I'm nearly 100% positive that no single COD title has outsold Mario Kart Wii.

But more on topic, I'm glad the MW series fans are getting a new iteration they're excited about. November and December are going to be happy months for many =)

I'll give credit where credit's due.  The only COD games I bought was the first (Pegasus Bridge missions were by far the best, IMO, far surpassing even the much lauded D-Day landing mission) and COD4:MW.

MW1 was a great infantry FPS.  The SP was like an action movie.  MP was cool for the time, though limited in size in scope.  At least the PC ver had 64 players.

After that, however, the devs and Activision rested on their laurels.  They didn't push the boundaries anymore.  The sequels actually made the game smaller in scope and size.  Player sizes on a map dwindled to less than half of what MW1 had.  18? LOL!  They didn't do anything new, and I have a hard time differentiating between MW1 and MW2.  I'll go on and say this:  The sequels after MW1 should have been expansion packs or DLC to MW1, not seperate games at full ridiculous prices.

I have no doubt MW3 will do well in raking in the cash.  I think it will even easily surpass BF3's sales (this coming from a BF fan).  But IMO, COD lost its heart and soul as an FPS after the immense success of MW1.  The only thing that amazes me with the post MW1 sequels is Activision's ability to blatantly sell the same game 3 more times (MW2, BOps, soon MW3) at full retail prices, and people fall over for it by the herds like lemmings going over a cliff.

Edit to add:  Let us not forget the big "F**k You" Activision and Infinity Ward did to PC gamers with MW2.

"I have only two out of my company and 20 out of some other company. We need support, but it is almost suicide to try to get it here as we are swept by machine gun fire and a constant barrage is on us. I have no one on my left and only a few on my right. I will hold." Just wait until Activision has to have the new Infinity Ward + Sledgehammer make a new engine since the current one is so dated. That will be fun for them without all the real talent to carry them. (the ones who pretty much sold MW3 for them without even being at the company anymore)
