The game is not even released in Korea yet, but enters the next closed beta stage in roughly a month. With this in mind, you have the usual 6 month of westernization ontop. So ArcheAge might be released sometime Q3 2012 in US/EU, but that would only be the case, if the korean version is released in Q1 2012, which is very much unlikely at the moment.
No way of knowing for sure. Could be a year or two, could be never. Could even be sooner than a year, but I really doubt it. Aion took what, 11 months to go from release in Korea to release in the US? And Archeage hasn't even released in Korea yet. You never know, though, it's a different company, maybe they'll get it out the door worldwide much faster than the usual. Or much slower.
I am convinced there is only one way to eliminate these grave evils, namely through the establishment of a socialist economy, accompanied by an educational system which would be oriented toward social goals.

LacedOpium: "So the question that begs to be asked is, if you are not interested in
the game mechanics that define the MMORPG genre, then why are you
playing an MMORPG?"
Yeah I agree I think the earliest we can hope to see this released in NA is during the beginning of 2013 and even then I think that's pushing it. Obviously it will be released in Korea before it's released here and presently there is no publisher in the North American market so that box has to be checked before we can seriously start contemplating when it will be released.
I read someplace they didn't even think of a US launch till like a little bit before first beta. So that means they have to literally go through thousands of lines of code to redo to English and all those quests plus do voice overs. I doubt we will see it anytime soon after they launch in Korea.
If not then it can take years. They could of course publish it themselves like NC soft and PWO but that will also add some time.
It usually takes a year after a Korean game is out to when it hits the west. Aion took 1 1/2 and TERA is still being worked on.
It ofcourse also depends in you just translate the game (we seen a few Jap games that seems to have been translated in Googels babelfish), change it a bit or change it a lot.
Many "experts" think that Korean games needs reworking to sell well in the West. They might be right.
I agree with loke666 this can take years and also Korean and Asian games in general do not do well in the WEST, however; this game is extremely top tier polished mmorpg that would by the looks of it do well in the WEST. That said I believe they will not chance keeping all the voice overs Korean in the game, so this would require the game to have a Western publisher and done by an English speaking team that can do it fluently and make it work in the West, you just can't expect Korean game company to port the game well to English for the WEST. It never ends well. To many errors in the text and the voice overs have that accent, they need real English speaking voice overs.
I bet it takes them 3 years at least to deliver to us.
Yeah,Korean games take like one and half year to hit US/EU market but there has been rumours that NCSoft might be interested in distributing the game...but it's just a rumour.

It took NC soft 1 1/2 year to release AION in the West so I wouldn't hold my breath while I wait for the game in that case.
Of course if the proves to be very successful fast it makes things faster than if it isn't, but remember that AION is successful in Korea.
So late 2012 is the most optimistic guess, 2013 or 2014 is more likely.
Yea, i'm looking forward to this one, but i'm thinking 2013...also world of darkness..probably also 2013. In the meantime, i'm hoping to see nice changes to Tera as thats not far off at all.

1 1/2 years? Wiki lied. Or I can't do math. Probably that last one. Yeah.
Anyway, this game is a goodly way off no matter what. Oh well.

one year after korean release at the most, probably 10 months. Did you not stop to think they already have started translating the game into english?
I hope there is no "westernization" of this game. Just translate to english and give it to us.
Agreed, i feel eastern games tend to fail if the western publisher tries to modify the game into what the feel will sell in the west. All they really need to do for this game is translate it and they will be good to go.
WTF does "Westernization" even mean? I understand translating so we can understand but what else would they change?
It seems to me that as soon as people find out a developer is korean they already make wild assumptions and write a game off, so why bother trying to pander to these people? It's just going to annoy the people that want something different.

Well let's take TERA for example. They are changing costume designs. They are trying to eliminate "grind" etc etc and it's all adding to the amount of time and money it takes to release for NA/EU.
Changing how a few things look and making the game easier?
Heres a novel concept, if I want an western MMORGP I can just play one of them. If I want to play your game and it happens to be Korean maybe I want to play it the way you envisioned it instead of making silly superficial changes that are only going to please people that probably won't play your game anyway.

Yes, kind of like having to ask what westernization means.

Actually not really the same thing at all waynejr. People throw that term around all the time but never really explain what they mean by it. I assumed it meant changing things but I'm still not 100% sure on what exactly people want changed other than the language.
Your know it all smuggness is not really appreciated.

Uh, it actually only took NC Soft 10 months to release Aion in NA / EU after the South Korean release. That said, a year or two isn't out of the question, especially if they don't have a publisher outside of the South Korean version.

I think the NCWest team was also quite small, I walk past their offices on the way to work so it doesn't surprise me that it took them so long to translate. They get the game partially translated then they correct it, I believe that's how it's done. They have the 3.0 patch at the moment.

Looking forward to it. Can't wait.
I will be pleasantly surprised if it releases in 2012 but I doubt very much that it will.

I don't think it will either. The 2013 at the earliest in the West I am thinking.
