Ok 1 question about steam . When u mean i neeed steam u mean i should just click on the steam shortcut or i need also to login using existing account? or also i need to load the game via steam or something? i never used steam so far so i have no clue.
Yes, run the Steam shortcut. If you do not have an account you'll need to make one. Once Steam installs and opens up (go to the Library),well, I don't know if Skyrim will automatically be there, but if it is just double click it and it should ask for everything needed. If it's not there, click on "Add Game" at the bottom-left of the Steam page and select "Activate Product on Steam," and it will ask for your cd-key found inside your cd-case.
If that doesn't work, try what linadragon and vagelisp has been saying. Note that you only need to activate it once like this. After it has been activated and runs once, you can launch it normally without Steam (don't know if you can uninstall Steam or not though, I haven't tried; you can just ignore it, however).

i dont know why people keep saying this really... if its a steamworks game it would force steam to be installed pretty much or should install it by default.
It IS a Steamworks game. Right on the back of the box in a red square with white text reads: "REQUIRES INTERNET CONNECTION AND FREE STEAM ACCOUNT TO ACTIVATE" (it's in all caps :P).

Sorry to say this but anyone who is saying he somehow run the game without steam is using a pirated copy which is the OP and one more guy in this thread. You can't run a steamworks title without steam. Or at least that has been the case for steamworks titles so far, I know that you at least need to authenticate them through steam once
After it is has been activated through Steam, you can run Skyrim without launching Steam. Just find the TESV.exe in your SteamSteamappsCommonSkyrim folder and double click it; it will launch without bothering wtih Steam.
you have to have a steam account to install/update, but not to play. Once installed you can go to the steam folder and click on
c:/Program Files (x86)/Steam/SteamApps/common/skyrim/TESV.exe it will start the game. If that fails it is due to steam, and steam forums will let you know what to do. I actually had this problem with Shogun total war II, or i think it was this. I had to redownload the client again, it was corrupt on the dvd for some reason. Try to hard start the game. That won't let you get the steam achievements and stuff, but you'll be able to play

As for the others saying they installed it and ran it fine without Steam... you guys got some voodoo magic going :P
Oooor unless some countries do not require Steam activation. I can't name one off the top of my head, though.

Yes that is a good point. You may also have a corrupt DVD that is missing some files. It can happen, however rare. You should able to activate the game using Steam and then re-download if necessary OP. It's like 5.7gb, so as long as you don't have dial-up, shouldn't take all day.
If you are still looking for a solution, you can try this one, there may be something useful about Skyrim. Sorry, as I don't play this one myself, I cannot help personally.

Not even that. Just someone paid to advertise a website. The only relevance their post has to the now dead subject is that their link has the word Skyrim in it.
