What shard of Coruscant was he attacking? Coruscant 1, 2, 3 or 4? And why didn't the Jedi from the other shards switch instances to come and help protect the temple? I was always confused by this hole in the lore. Can someone explain?

Malgus attacked coruscant 2 months after launch so the population was spread out enough that shards weren't necessary.
It probably took you hours to come up with that. Sad part is, it's not even funny.
4/10 - For execution
2/10 - For the Material itself
In War - Victory.
In Peace - Vigilance.
In Death - Sacrifice.
What a poor attempt at trolling.
It was instance three. And noone switched because the population was capped because of the ridiculous number of preorders (millions) all flooding the city all at the same time trying to do the same quests.
Had they tried to thwart the evil Malgus they would have clogged up the streets with gridlock and lagged the city into oblivion. The cries of the IT pros that were responsible for the server streets could be Heard for miles. They say sometimes you can still hear them screaming late at night.
While there was some confusion over the space time continuum issues this created, it didn't really matter because Coruscant is republic and they deserved what they got.
From that day forward the King of Coruscant decreed that handling abnormally large waves of players by temporarily disrupting the space time continuum was worth it, even if it upset the cities forum trolls and caused them to make ridiculous posts on forums about the whole situation.
The 4 Coruscants were reunited when less rabid travellers were trying to force their way in. Eventually life returned to normal and the Fire Marshall lifted a state of emergency in the server rooms.
For generations this tale has been passed down. Now I pass it on to you.

You had to start an entirely new thread on sharding even though we already have an active one going? God, you're pathetic.
Ballancing technical possibilities and a perfectionisme,,,,....
Sharding is the best and only viable option for MMO's to survive release day......
Seems you're lost in fantasy lore, better start living in the real world again, before you wake up from a nightmare....
Best MMO experiences : EQ(PvE), DAoC(PvP), WoW(total package) LOTRO (worldfeel) GW2 (Artstyle and animations and worlddesign) SWTOR (Story immersion) TSW (story) ESO (character advancement)
If they didn't do this there would inevitably be launch problems and all these same people that are complaining about sharding would complain about queues, server crashes, mob spawn camping, lag, and all of the other problems they always complain about at launch.
Bioware made the right decision, and the technology is solid. I've seen it in action.

Had to do this, from looking at some of the OP's posts I'm pretty sure he's a GW 2 fan or at least is going to play it.
GW 2 has confirmed some sort of sharding system and instancing in their game!!!!!!! OMG did your head just explode? You better go troll that forum too.
