Henrik promised us a patch on Tuesday. Then he promised a patch on wednesday. Then he promised a patch by Friday.
What isn't being talked about is that all these features that are broken were all tested and working on the test server. The question is: how did they fuck it up on the live server? Do they still have fundamental corruption issues when patching the live server? Or are they just sloppy?.
You are correct... most other games would consider this patch an utter failure. The bar is set so low for SV that even a patch such as this is considered a success. It's actually quite puzzling.
As for the testing... honestly how could anyone expect 17 volunteers (who probably didn't even login at the same time) to find all the bugs in a massively multiplayer territory control system? Simply watching the map showed that the testing was on a rather small scale. I just let the regular guys come and post about how great the patch was on the first day... while fully expecting it's true faults to be revealed as players actually used the new features. Now, as you have touched on.. many of those features are turned off. Just wait until towns start to be controlled...

You are correct in that we have gone into the weeked - but really? We've only slipped a couple of days - the patch is imminent - we've been testing it all week and it's by far the best TC Build so far - everything seems to be working. We do have a nasty bug on the Magistrate - but think it's a quick fix.
All the free placemetn stuff is in and looks very nice - but portable crushers / campfires etc - do not drop in towns so this needs looking at too.
Also can you show me where anyone from the team said Monday, then Tuesday then.. as you've posted.

Mine was really more about the fact that many core items of the patch were not functioning (as found here:the core features are not working or turned off. The Tax system is not turned on. Taking over towns is disabled, and the towers are bugged. They are not upgrading defence and hp every tier. A maxed out tier tower can be killed by a couple people with swords. I know thepatch did not delete a city but the core features are not there. Not to mention the game being down for a day and the mail system disabled ) and how I didn't think it should all be blamed on the test team as a team of 17 players cannot possibly fully test a territory control system in a massively multiplayer game.

We've patched on Live now - last night for me - Tower HP is fixed - they are very hard to kill now.
Tower AI is *MUCH* more nasty with a high Defense (I know I had to Rez a lot of experienced players on test who know how to take cover- hehehe) - this is on Live now too! Early Battle Reports are saying that much blood was shed through the night!
We have 2 quick to fix but nasty bugs that made it past us on test - Spamming House Vendors - and the map not properly updating although the features are working on the server.
We'll hot fix today - then the team are off to AI - Land (which they're really looking forward t) - With a big PVE re-write (I'll hype it in my own time) that will be one of the cornerstones we've been missing for the community.

Theia is there a language barrier or something. I am not asking you what you are patching or if it is patched. What I am asking is, how can a patch come out with a new test team and all the features of the patch not work or are disabled? It makes no sense when the team and SV says it works on the test server and then when you patch none of it works. Is there a problem at a base level with the core code of the game?

i know what turtle means, he means how come patches work and are release ready on the test server and content is working on the test server. but when its launched on live it breaks?
My answer would be that test server has alot of extra code from different stuff they have worked on and often the live code isnt the same. Thats just a guess but a most likely senario

No, no we have a Test server. We've just have another 10ish folk kind enough to voulenteer added tot the test team - we tested late last night (well all the way through) and then this afternoone before the patch went live - pretty much all TC issues are now resolved. HP, Radii, Pylons can't be naked attacked, NPC guards shoot soooo far now! arf.

Only being able to destroy the towers with siege weapons is bullshit.
it now takes roughly 500 gold + prom. points(catapult) to trow 1 boulders to destroy 1 TC tower that costs 50 gold and 120 prom. points.... not to even mention those towers that will be placed in spots that cannot be reached by catapults.
what kind of....monkey....is...trowing the darts...at the office SV?

Thanks, but I rather avoid promoting such Trial and Error design approach, whoever is pulling the strings should give lectures on how not to do stuff. I mean seriously, it almost seems like they never test their numbers but randomly roll a dice and code it down.

We are doing a small patch this week that will affect and solve the following:
Some weapon bugs Handle Hits other issues - IN & Fixed.
A fix for tower defense so it works correctly, and a small buff on it's total HP. IN
A fix to be enable the taking over of cities IN & Fixed
If things goes as planned the mail man will be back reworked functioning as intended IN & Fixed (dupe gone)
Some spell rebalances IN but Team feels needs more work as Thunderlash still too variable
Working on making all placeable objects using the same tower placement system. Not houses yet. IN and very damn cool!
Stat bug fixes
Some tweaks on a few spawners and stats on creatures. Nitre Queen - very, very nasty

Or you could get 5 guys with sledgehammers and knock it down in a half hour for a fraction of the cost.
