The mechanics for the ratings definitely appear to involve a handful of RNG, the need to sacrifice virgin goats, and to avoid pissing off some of the cliques on the forums.
As for the number of stars - some people will blindly assume it means something, so you can gain or lose reading comprehension from those reading your posts based upon the number of stars you have there...
...but there are folks that obviously game the system, because they are known trolls with high stars - etc.
One might think they should either do away with the system, fix the system, or perhaps employ some form of gamification to reward people with tiddlywinks...
I miss the MMORPG genre. Will a developer ever make one again?
