I have seen a lot of complaining about the character customisation and espescially the boddy part.
Is there any chance they will add more boddy types and a size slider before the game releases?

i hope so and hope body types were limited for beta. The females really have little choice at all . Males at least can be fat. Woman dont even have the choice .
It is the one area i think need work on character sheet the rest of the options seem to be more then enough body types though are just very limited with only 4 each sex.
yeah i hope they add more character customization options (including sexappeal)
I'm afraid not, tbh. The problem is that all gear has been scaled to fit the existing range of body types; adding a new armor is easy, adding a new body type would be a hell of a lot of work. But you never know. Maybe there's some tolerance for stretching the textures slightly. I'd be happily surprised. Especially the slender bodies are a bit overly cartoony in proportions.
My brand new bloggity blog.
Maybe not for launch, but surely they will in time.

That all depends on the engine they use, from what i have seen it looks like the engine is able to stretch the texture around it for new boddytypes.
On op of that a size slider will not be of any proble at all considering the textures, but it could be a problem for the annimations, espescially the combat animations where the lightsabres connect mid air while parrying. IF all the races are exactly the same size this will probably be the reason... If lightsabre wielding races are of different size, the problem can be overcome quite easilly.

I think it's a bit late to do anything about it right now imo. I'm a bit dissapointed in customization myself, I think it lacks compared to the rest of the game.
I think the character models are the poorest part of the game.
I dont see them adding any because of the cutscenes would but too much of a hassle.
P.s got to love the fat man body type.
The following statement is false
The previous statement is true
Not really, as the cutscene engine probably uses the ingame charcter models, so updating the ingame character models would automatically update the models in the cutscenes.

If you look back at all of the Bioware games they have never been good at character customization.
What the heck ? How can "sex appeal" be a slider ? Thats extremely subjective.
QFT. Bioware has limited the bodies in order to allow a huge variance in armor looks.
Personally I prefer something like Vanguard has - they have a full bodygen, so you have extremely configurable bodies.
From the top of my head: whenever you need precisely, well-done, cutscenes, where people interact with each other, you have to spend a LOT of time changing the choreography for body type. For example, say, there are 4 npcs and 1 player in the cutscene. NPC gives something to a player - hands have to connect naturally, meaning, if player is tall, npc have to push his hand up. If player is short, npc has to push his hand down. Eyes have to be pointed to where player's face is, again, up and down. Now, say, NPC falls, player character catches it - choreography of the fall have to be different for every body type, or else we will have characters with long arms pushing their hands through each other's bodies, and characters with short arms never touching each other.
So, returning to 4 npcs and 1 player - you add one body type, you have to build completely new choreography for 4 npcs in this one scene. Some of that (say, npcs looking up or down) can be done automatically, procedurally (but demand a sh!tload of inventive programming), and some of that can be done only by hand!
Multiply it to how many cut scenes with direct interatcion there are... Now add to that cutscenes with 4 player characters of different heights... And you have an exponential increase in workload with each body type.
But still, it doesn't excuse lack of tatoos, jewely, haircuts... Now that's just sloppy work. Oh, well.
yeah... why rush to make character design engaging, creative, attractive, and fun?
Most folks only connect to a RPG game through their characters after all.
Silly Adamantine. Larger breasts = more sex appeal. What can be simpler? For males, slider increases the size of the purse.
You know, Zimurgeist, discussions in SWTOR folders would likely be a bit more productive if you weren't saddling your Rocinante for battle every time anyone says anything even slightly critical of SWTOR.
I, for one, would very much like to see (and certainly to allow players to choose) female characters who are not just an eye candy in SWTOR.
Fat female body types need love too!
For the reocrd i think femailes in game should have a fat body type also. Or at least something bigger then a size 2 .
IF u have a fat guy why cant u have a fat girl its not like there isnt a fat body type in game already.
No way Jose, seen that enough in real life, I really want the game to please my eyes in every sence...

Because there is nothing more important in woman's life than to please men.
Its simpy another indicator of being in a sci-fi or fantasy world. Though i will admit that having women be slender and attractive is almost immersion breaking. {mod edit}
On a side note, most men would love a life of just pleasing women. In fact many of us try to do just that. So why is it seen as offensive for women to make efforts to please men?
Eh its a game, why shouldn't people be able to play the hot laura croft character they always wanted?
I think everyone should be able to play the toon they want within reason. I really don't think hes implying that he thinks that women exsist solely to please men.
If they are allowing fat male models and same sex relationships and space combat and twilek's, why not heavy set chicks and hot babes? Why not cover a few more types of players, it doesn't seem like it'd be that hard, while they're at it make sure the guy models are sex appealing for the ladies too right? Fair is fair.
I do agree that SWTOR needs more body types to choose from, but I dont get why people complaining that there is no fat female body type? Other games dont have this, why is it needed in SWTOR?
Cluck Cluck, Gibber Gibber, My Old Mans A Mushroom
Actually, I don't think so. I like to please women, up to a point, if such is my fancy (which it often is), but ultimately, the most important thing for me is what I want. I will never change my worldview, limit my freedom to do what I want, hide what I think or want, adapt or pretend in order to please someone, be it a man or a woman. I go through life on my own terms, and others may, ultimately, go to hell if they so please; and society praises me and says "now that's a manly man who's really manly. Learn from him, son!"
It is, however, often expected from women to behave differently, and what's by far more important, plenty of women are indoctrinated in putting efforts to please men because that's more important than to go through life on her own term. And quite often "her own terms" for women are "finding a good man and pleasing him the rest of her life". And if a woman rebels, society frowns at her (not always, not everywhere, but plenty of times) and call her "lesbo feminazy bitch." Who, obviously, will never find herself a good man, and, therefore, her life, obviously, will be a complete failure.
In terms of the game, though, the difference is: I, as a man, can play (and will! I'm fat in real life, it pleases me to play fat guys) a fat donkey who doesn't give 2 sheets for how he looks, and say to those who don't like how I look: "what? Don't like to see a fatty? Well ef you and the horse you rode in!"
While women can't. It's not an option for them. It's an eyecandy or nothing, because, really, what proper girl would want to play a fat chick where men can see her, and say to them "well ef you and your horse AND your robot!"? Only lesbo feminazy bitch, obviously. We can't have it, can we?
It's not a problem of SWTOR per se, obviously, other games are no better at all. But still, it is not unreasonable for people to want at least to have such option.
Why is it guys who wanna play woman who are all bony and unsexy can do so but if a guy wants to play a woman with curves he cant.
I perfer a woman with curves to a malnourished woman anyday of the week why cant i.
Im just saying i hsould be able to play a woman whose fat if i want . they dont have to having a fat body type doesnt make u have to play it.
It just gives me the opeion to if i want to. U alreayd have your sickly undernourished chick in game give me my lady with curves to play.
