i genuinely tried playing this game for one of the beta tests. 1 hour in, i decided not to waste 70 bucks on it. i thought it was strange that the 10 year old product, WoW, was superior in almost every way. Arkham City, Skyrim and EVE should hold me off well.
I was going to skip it, mostly due to the hype (yea, hype sucks, I even hate E.T., so...) and the fee. But I recently hit GWAMM in GW and that took most of the air out of me to continue playing. After playing the SWTOR beta for two weekends I caved, though, and I'll give it a whirl, at least until GW2 open beta/release.
I never played WoW, EQ, or any of the P2P MMOs, so I'm not really burnt out on themeparks. SWTOR itself is fun and the character's storyline is interesting. Most of the sidequesting is a bit boring, very static, and old school? But you can get through it the few times you do them on autopilot, or skip them altogether and get XP/credits in PvP or playing space invaders, eh, the space battles.
The hyping is almost over now as people actually start playing, and the fee? Yea, that still blows, but skip a premium coffee drink or two from *$ and purchasing a book and you got it almost covered. Should be ok for six months at which point I REALLY hope GW2 is out.
New interview for those who are interested. Drop-only craft recipes ;o I'd be annoyed if I like...actually used the crafting system. In anything. But I don't so *wavey*

When the question is "until release of GW2", then "playing both" doesn't make sense. Unless of course you count GW2 beta as playing.
yep
Why ride a toyota when you have a ferrari ready for you at Home?
is there competitive pvp, which is independent from the gear, no ? so i'm not interested

Continuing to peruse the internets, learning as much as I can about the game I'll be spending inordinate amounts of time playing:
