i love DnL just as the next fanboy but i try not to get caught up in the screenshots, as i hope the graphics are not the reason people play this game. but it is hard, they look so nice . . .
I seem to recall not that long ago all the talk was about Face of Mankind followed by D&L. Turns out FoM is a complete disaster, a total failure and probably not going to ever recover from the bad taste it left in beta testers' mouths.
Its amazing to me how everyone soon forgets how great and innovative FoM was going to be. Sound familiar to anyone ? Now the new savior is supposedly D&L, I'll see it when I believe it.
No wonder the devs at Fallen Earth are keeping so quiet. They want no part in unrealistic expectations and overhype.
if i have to compare dnl and wow ? i think Dnl is more promesing then wow . but then 40.000 Km² ? Who says the enviroment is that nice looking ? bc that is a huge landscape you need to make with loads of detail ! and hopefully not 90 % of the world looks the same !
I was sucked up by the hype of WoW and after a month+, I am already bored to tears with the game. WoW turned out to be another EQ-clone and it's fun didn't last 6 years like EQ but just one month! No idea why that POS even got so many awards.
I already quit WoW and waiting on Guild wars and will take a real close look at DnL. Seems like a promising game.

It's easy to understand why it got great reviews. The game is very fun in the early going (lvls 1-40 I would say). I doubt that many, if any, of the reviewers played past that point or into the 50s. So if you're going to write a review of WoW based on the early and mid game it is going to get great reviews, and that is what has happened.

Great theory, novaseeker. A shame that all game magazine have been in Beta since the very start of it. So they had approximatly 6 months to play the game, if they didn't manage to get to high level in 6 months, oh well.. what the heck they are doing being reviewer of gaming magazines??

I think when you are testing a beta game you don't expect it to have endgame content yet. So they didn't focus on that issue when they were beta testing the game, they focused on the ease of gameplay and the feel of the game for the content they were able to test (which surely wasn't endgame content, as we know). I also doubt that they played to the late level of the game in order to write their reviews of it, to be honest. Too many other reviews to write!

Make of it what you will.
It seems DnL is going the "Virtual World" way, joining Ultima Online and Star Wars Galaxies in this quite small (for now) category.
It will be interesting to see how they pull it off.
