I just lapped it up all the Star Wars  and being part of it was amazing. I really felt like I was in a Star Wars movie.

from a solo player perspective i love them, but when i play with my friends (who doesn't care about story and just chose the ligt/dark side option which fits them) i feel like i'm holding them back from playing the game.

That feeeling kinda spoils the stories/imersion, so for launch i guess i'll have character which i just skips stories with (in order to keep up with them) while lvling the same character + alts some other time, at least thats the plan so far.

Bored of them. CGI  doesn't make a good game. If you think Michael bay films are good then i guess you'll like this game. nuff said

I like cutscenes for main story, but cutscenes for side quests annoy me .

However, if you're looking for a game that brings the RPG back to MMORPG, you might actually want to try SWTOR.

Your 1st cooment isnt worth a response as you throw a blanket over a portion of the mmo community and insult them... wtg

The quest tracker is no differnet than any other game that uses them .. its laid out right in front of you marked plain as day .. Hellen Keller could complete these quests..

It does nothing to bring RPG back than any other game has done unless of course VO is all you needed to bring RPG back ..  for you.. And its not an RPG when you role is so clearly and lineraly defined for you ... You are not RPG but more Playing a Role.. that EA/Bio has defined all parameters for .....

Now im not saying its a bad game .. it does what it set out to do well.. A story driven action MultiPlayer /MMO...

Incorrect. My problem is that an attention span is worthless when you're supposed to be playing with other people. And when I do direct my attention to the story content (which I am happy to do so in any single player game), there is no reason to be playing with others.

Ah, you can all participate in the dialogues together.

In the few months I've been playing, it has never been an issue for any of the groups I have been in.

I know you can. But it doesn't feel like I'm playing during the story content. Playing is when you're actively involved in the gameplay.

When playing with others, watching cutscenes together isn't really multiplayer gameplay. And when this game is 50% cutscenes (at least 1-10), it's just not really social or cooperative.

Playing a BW game is often akin to reading a book. Reading a book with other people just isn't all that enjoyable and I'd rather do it alone. Therefore, massive amounts of cutscenes in an MMO just doesn't work for me.

There is a reason why games such as the Elder's Scrolls should never be co-op or multiplayer. They are best played as single player experiences and BW's storytelling is the same.

When played solo, TOR is a very enjoyable game. I don't care that the gameplay is being broken up by cutscenes because I can go at my own pace and enjoy them as such; seperate from the gameplay. Multiplayer on the other hand, should always be about the gameplay and playing together.

If Bioware wanted to add the RPG to MMORPG, then there are far better ways to do it. Real-time cutscenes for example and action oriented choices rather than dialogue etc...

I enjoy the cutscenes. I really, really do. But when you just want to play with other people through actual gameplay (which is what MMOs should be all about), it really disrupts that. In an MMO I want to be playing with others, rather than faff around in cutscenes which would prefer doing in a single player experience.

    Worst part of the game.

I think all MMO dev's will learn that single player elements dont work with MMO's.

    Lesson learned.

Yes, I like them. For me the most important thing in any game is the story. If I don't like the story or there is no story I simply stop playing the game. It's a huge game breaker for me.

I love the game because it feels like I am playing KOTOR again. I don't care if I just go through all the quest lines solo and never interact with other people. I might as well play the game as a single player game and I will still be happy.

But yeah, do I like cutscenes? I played through ME and ME2 2-3 times and the game is an all time favourite of mine. Need I say more?

Sounds like you enjoy single player games.

I like to spend my time playing, and so I skip most everything like that. If I'm in an MMO I want to play the game with other people, but I don't want to sit there and wait for them to watch the cutscene, or read/listen to the dialogue. I'm not going to complain or make someone else miss out on something they like, so I would just end up playing the game solo.  It just boils down to the game isn't for me. Personal preference.

How can you hate something without even trying it. It's not it'll comprimise who you are as a person to jump in a beta test before launch and actually play the game so you can understand what you spend your time on the forums bashing. I also skip all dialogue from every mmo ever and so far have completed loved the story in Tor.

lol. I am hardly bashing the game, I just don't want to play it. The question was asked and I answered. I even stated at the end it was just personal preference. Why are you so hyped about the game that you can't understand that some people just don't want to play? It will be ok if I don't play, they'll still put the game out for everyone else to enjoy.

Thats fine and all but why don't you just play it? It won't hurt you in any way and in the future whenever a forum convo comes up you'll actually have a basis to agree or dispute any claims made.

Maybe if I try the game, and don't like it, I'll start going on about all the things that I hate about the game. I won't have any doubt about the statements people make, and I might turn into one of these "haters" that you've went on about.

As it is, I think the game won't suit my interests because of the things the developers have said about the game, so I just pass it by and mingle with the conversations when I have 2 cents to offer.  I really could offer all sorts of reasons why I don't like the game, but thats not the point of this thread. The point was, "do you like the cutscenese" to which I replied "I don't like cutscenes"

All of my posts are either intelligent, thought provoking, funny, satirical, sarcastic or intentionally disrespectful. Take your pick.

I get banned in the forums for games I love, so lets see if I do better in the forums for games I hate.

Yeah, I do. Of course, those who just play the game thinking it will be nothing like a Bioware RPG probably do not. Of course, there is every other MMO out there that does not have them, so their game options are quite open.

Bioware RPG that lacks cut scenes is just... crap. To me, the cut scenes and the decisions that you make within them, hearing your character be involved in an ongoing story really is the selling point for me. It is SWTOR's unique factor in the genre.

    Argh

Huh....I guess that I just never equated constant combat with the entirety of an MMORPG's "gameplay".

'cause that is really what it sounds like you're beef is here....you're miffed that your combat got interrupted with another activity that you don't consider to be "gameplay".

But the dialogues are just as much a part of the game as the combat. And they're fun...in or out of a group.

Sounds like one of those themepark level grinders would be best for you....you can have quests dispensed for you without having to know what you are doing or why you're doing it, and just follow the breadcrumbs to the next XP and piece of loot.

Yes I love all the cutscenes, they play out a ton better than any recent George Lucas films and I've always enjoyed cinematic RPG's.

To be honest, I found that watching the cutscenes was far more enjoyable than the actual gameplay, which isn't saying much considering that combat is the exact same crap that's been produced ever since WoW came out.

Seriously, this game is boring. If it wasn't for an interesting story, I wouldn't have even made it to level 2. I cannot fathom the appeal of this game if you don't want any context to mindless grinding. Aside from story and cutscenes, TOR has exactly zero innovations. You might as well find some F2P Korean grinder.
