Am I the only SWG veteran that loved SW:TOR

I remember saying in dozens of forums that this game will fail as it is a WoW clone. Nevertheless, as a pre-CU SWG vet who loves sandbox MMOs I've fallen in love with SW:TOR. Is it a WoW clone? Yeah, well combat system is pretty much a WoW clone. However, I really loved the RPG aspects of this game. I always liked Bioware RPGs (Except DA2), and it is no wonder that I also like SW:TOR. It seems as if Bioware tried to aim for WoW crowd (Who currently doesn't like the game) by making this game themepark and RPG fans by adding some non-linear quests.

I guess if you are RPG player, you should definitely try SW:TOR even if you have prejudices against it.

Nope. I love it as well.

But I never expected it to be a sandbox, or a replacement for SWG.

I expected KOTOR + MMO mechanics, and that's what I got.

Also, since I never WoW, or any other themepark MMO for more than a month or two, I am not really burned out on the game's core mechanics or seeing "same thing different game" stuff everywhere.

The story makes the questing something I actually WANT to do, instead of a tedius chore.

It has it's flaws, but I've been watching things get patched up quickly, and other things added to the game at a rapid pace for the last few months I've been playing.

I'm optimistic. And Hell, I'm still having fun with the game, and looking forward to launch.

I am so happy to be in the SWTOR Beta this weekend, all I can sayi is 2 weeks ago i was furious about SWG but decided to try this game on beta.

 

I can definitely say this is a greatalternative and the theme park game does not take away the star wars feel when you play this game. Seriously it is well weorth it, I can clearly see  it was the star wars universe that I like, thwere is so much fun to be had here, it would be a shame for you to miss out if you love star wars.

Affter playing this youll forgive Lucas for swg as he has given us another swmmo and it is just brilliant

Ex SWG player here as well. Elder Jedi, etc.

I preordered SWTOR and it will be my next main game. The quality of this game makes it easy to forget about SWG.

No OP you are not the only one and i dislike the title of Veteran associated to me only because i played a certain video game for many years. So no i am not a veteran even though i played SWG for 5 years

Nonsence... WOW has the best combat system out there. It really fast, dynamic, flowing ...

Good that SWTOR has it too, even if its not that perfect (rightnow)

You can deny it all you want. Warcraft is an amazing IP and WoW ruled the MMORPG world for at least 7 years. I don't play it and have no plans to go back, but I definately respect it for its dominance.

 

Ex SWG here also and having fun, because I went into the game knowing what Bioware was giving us; a multiplayer KOTOR. I mean, honestly, it feels 100% like a Bioware game.

I play wow and no offense i lvoe tor the story choices and stuff make this game feel diffrent but the mechanics and combat are very similar to wow 

Thats a good thing for me as i picked it up quickly but being compared to wow isnt a bad thing. Especially if in the end we compare it to wow bsed on amount of subs it has.
