Well you can find a Poll in the swtor test forums, 95% of the testers love the game and just 0.27 hate it and think that is a huge disappointment. we dont have much to say about what the community think about the game.
This is some funny stuff. People complain that games like SWG in it's prime didn't have enough of a tutorial to let a person ease their way into the big open world and now people complain that TOR has to much of a tutorial and just want to blow right past it.
I can't even count how many times i read in chat all through Tython, when do i get my saber, speeder, ship, fast run and they were like level 3. This has been said many times on many different forums. If you try and rush your way through the game you will miss out on a lot of content and that includes the atarter worlds just like all of the other planets.
This game is not meant to be rushed to end level in like a week. Stop approaching it as such. Right now, i have only been playing a jedi knight and have taken the dark road to level 18. I find the story since i first logged in to be very indepth and i am constantly wanting to push the story forward.
There's nothing wrong with 1-10 from a game standpoint. Like i said before, maybe it's the player's way of playing the game.
The 1-10 "Story" for me consisted of the Sith Recruiter / Trainer hating me, wanting this red guy to be the new apprentice, and then continually being amazed when I conquered his tests which provided little to no resistance. It was enjoyable to watch the red guy get destroyed by the head honcho, though.

If that poll was made in-game, amongst random players, maybe it would actually mean something.

But one can not deny the huge and consistent reponse over these two days. 88 servers all full and have queues. I have played on three servers and not even one person bad mouthed game. So far it has been very positive and mature in game. people discuss issues with each other and submit feedbacks.

While yes its impressive all servers are so busy, 88 do not have queues. EU was down to a handfull with queues this evening, which incidently means nothing.

It changes from time to time and yes at peak times all servers have queues. That is the only reason they opened lots of fresh servers to reduce queue times which were as high as 1 day. I have beta tested lots of MMOS but i have never seen such a huge response before.
I'm not so sure. I went into it expecting a botched open world game, but quickly the game made me adjust my approach to that of a story experience. I logged out, took time to create a character that felt right to me, paying attention to voice acting (which affected gender choice) and looks. Then I went in again and enjoyed it.
Now I'd say, to enjoy this game you probably have to prioritize story and character rather than combat mechanics when choosing your class. It can make you forget that the quest and combat mechanics are somewhat unimaginative.
I went to bed last night hating this game, absolutely no way I was going to buy it. Today, I hit level 10+, got my AC, Companion, Dbl Lightsaber, and did my first flash point. Does anyone else think levels 1-10 were horribly made?
Post 10, I'm loving the game. Going to be pre-ordering it now actually. 1-10 made me want to go to sleep. This is mostly to let people know to keep trying it, and to ask people if anyone else felt the same thing? I think it will turn a lot of people off.
I don't know why people would be turned off from the starter areas. They are like enhanced Age of Conan Tortage areas and there are more than one. As most people know, Agoe of Conan Tortage received rave reviews. Also, this is looking at it from the perspective of disgruntled Sandbox folks or MMO folks who are burnt out. Aion, Warhammer, LOTRO, WOW, EQ2..I mean, all of them had starter areas which felt much less RPG to me than this game has. This makes you feel part of something bigger right from the beginning. LOTRO did a decent job right up front, but even that games quests early on were insignficant in the scheme of things.
I think also that people forget that younger people may be trying this out as there first MMO just like many of us did when WOW was released. For them, they need a starter area to teach them just like this game offers. Anything more complex would turn them off IMO.
Does it seem like people who don't want Star Wars to succeed (or believe it won't for some reason) just keep looking for a 'hook' to prove that it won't succeed?
First it was 'Too Much of a Story', then 'Not Enough of a Sandbox', followed by 'Not Enough Classes' and now 'Levels 1-10 Will Turn People Off'. I can't tell if it's the same people starting the threads or not.
Just seems interesting.
I can not remember winning or losing a single debate on the internet.

I loved the first 10 levels of the Jedi Knight, Smuggler, and Sith Inquisitor. Those are what I have played but man, I had fun with them all. Of course, I love ME1 &2, and Dragon Age as well and really enjoy the story telling.
Then though, you are right....The game opens up. I went JEdi Guardian, Smuggler Gun Slinger, and Sith Assassin. Got the Sith to 20th. Had an absolute blast. PVP is really fun for me and the Flashpoints add a whole new gig that I love.
So I agree and not. I think the first 10 levels, while very much a bit of a guided tour, are outstanding for the classes I played.
I guess it matters what class you play. I played Jedi Knight, Trooper, Sith Inquisitor and Bounty Hunter. I found Jedi Knight extremely boring, I was forcing myself to suffer through, just so I could get a good perspective, but I quit at level 5. Trooper was ok, Sith good, but Bounty Hunter was the best. Jedi Knight was so bad compared to the rest, I almost quit playing Swtor completely. Jedi Knight was the first one I played, so it wasn't burn out or something, now I can understand why it was dead last in the polls.
have to agree here, jedi knight is just god awful which is really sad since it's probably the class many people will try first. Bounty hunter so far has been my favorite in starter quests and overall gameplay is a lot of fun. I really hate the smuggler cover system but sure some people will enjoy it. I wan't to play a shadow retail so haven't touched Counsler yet.
This s. completely and utterly a personal opinion and not worth much. I played through four classes and Jedi Knight was by far my favorite.
i ditched at lvl 2. nothing could make what i saw better. lifeless npc's, typical respawning mobs (in 3's no less) and terrible visuals. i'm not sucking that up for even 8 more levels thanks.
I really liked the first 10 levels. I did the Sith Inquisitor and the Jedi Councelor and liked them both. I want to be an Imp Agent when the game goes live so I held off doing the BH or agent storyline. I thought the Sith story was great and reminded me sooo much of Kotor, I didnt want to stop playing.

Sorry but no,that was your 1-10 content not 10+.
After 10 is when you get your skill trees which are utter crap,FLashpoints are pretty much the only reason to group. They are instances content,i am not big on instance ocntent. After level 10 it is a new zone but the exact same repetitive content, throwing in FLashpoints.Crating is done just awful and very cheap.don't like it one bit.
I would say that IF they had of shown some effort in crafting and not this limited to 1-2 choices crap,i would have quite possibly subbed the game even though it did get repetitive and slightly boring for me.
You know how i know this was a single player game that they converted into a MMo?The ONLY made ONE male model and used it everywhere in the game.I assume they then added in Flashpoints and hutball and that really cheap crafting system.Yo uare looking at a 2 year console game with maybe 1 more year for the MMO content.
This game is missing about 2 years of MMO content effort and it shows, otherwise this could have been a real top notch game.
Never forget 3 mile Island and never trust a government official or company spokesman.

That's twice I've seen you reference the whole "only two model" spiel, and I have absolutely no idea what the heck you are talking about. Throughout the entire main story and side-quests there are countless different variations of NPC modles -- I mean, even those found randomly on the side of the road or near encampments / cities are distinct.
You obviously have no clue what you're going on about, and are blatantly hating on the game for no reason other than to be negative. If you don't like the game, that's fine but don't prattle on about something entirely false just to try and make some sort of compelling argument.
And the crafting is much more than 1 - 2 choices, seeing how there's about 15 different things to choose from. And yes, you do send your companions out; however, you can ALSO find objects in the field for just about every gathering profession available.
I find it hard to believe that you found only Flashpoints as a means for grouping, as well. Were you blind to many HEROIC quests which REQUIRE groups of people to complete? I mean, they start giving them to you in the 1 - 10 quest zones. There's also 3 different warzones ( PVP ) to group up and do. Space battles, finding holocrons through exploration..
.. There's plenty to do. You either appreciate the options, or do not. But there's no point to lie about what's very obvious.
i have done agent 1-10 3 times and warrior 1-10 once and loved it each time. but then again this is the kind of game i enjoy *shrugs shoulders*
Change that to Smuggler and Bounty Hunter and yeah. I agree totally. I've made and re-made the same characters several times over the last few months over various builds. I've played the newbie areas quite a few times now. I still have fun with it.
Guess it all comes down to personal taste.
Yea its all personal taste, I loved imperail agent up to lvl 10 then I disliked it (played it till 14) disliked smugler start but liked it later on. disliked the few start quest of the jedi's but liked it past lvl 7 or so.
My main dislike right now would be the lack of simple things, the UI is ok but you cant move a darn thing as of yet.
I dislike not having chat bubbles , dislike not being able to freaking sit on a single chair in any building incl the cantina's.
dislike the tweak of the spawns. I means item spawns the things you need to collect to gain progress in the bonus/side quest. can sometimes take you up to 10/15 min to collect all items if its a bussy place for a minimal bit of xp.
But im still having a blast playing the game, the story, the combat its great once you get the hang of it, and most classes do play fairly diferent. grapics are good except when you go of the path and check out that rock formation a bit closer.. then its more ugly then a 10 year old game.
Good game, but needs alot of tweaking and improving if it wishes to keep players playing beyond a class story.
Eh. The only thing I care about being able to sit at in the cantinas are the pazaak tables. Hopefully they add that to the game.
There are minor things I'd want to see and/or change, mostly on the cosmetic end, but overall I'm happy with the game. It's entertaining and has kept me interested so far over a variety of builds to get to this point.

Your forgetting about the countless group quests on each planet, and the heroic zones on each planet....in addition to the flashpoints.
OH...then there's the bonus quests that end in a group quest....and the world bosses to raid on each planet. And the world PVP, which is much better in a group.
And the xp and loot bonus for grouping...as well as the social points gained, and the gear that can be purchased with them.....all for grouping.
As for that "one male model" thing...I just want you to share whatever meds you seem to be taking.
no offense OP but this is one of the dumbest posts I've ever seen, level's 1-10 turning you off? What game doesn't!? At least in this game the character feels quite a bit more heroic than the other games, better skills, better animations, a great story line? nothing better than starting off as a warrior (as an example) in WoW and you get such crappy skills from 1-10 with horrid animations, no I am not a WoW hater, as a matter of fact I played it for at least 6 years and yes was the best game that an MMO could hand out at the time....so I guess for me, no it doesn't even remotely come close to turning me off, that's my opinion others will disagree and yes you do have your opinion about it but I just want to know what game you felt was so amazing from level 1-10...I've played about every popular mmo under the sun so I would like to see your opinion on that given game? Some people don't like a story driven game such as this and will probably spacebar through the dialogue but there is no other game that you feel your character is in an actual new written star wars movie, in all honesty if people don't like that part they shouldn't play it, again my opinion. Please reply OP I'm just curious as to what you find absolutely mind blowing or at least snags good attention from you from levels 1-10?

Even Rift had a better 1-10 experience. It introduced you to what the game had to offer, such as rifts, invasions, quests, groups. The only things SWTOR introduces you to is the prolonged VO questing.
I would agree for all the negativity that levels 1-10 bring for the exception of the Agent class. That storyline is awesome from levels 1-10 and is nothing like ALL the other classes I played to level 10.
