European version

BoldgrimBoldgrim Member UncommonPosts: 69

I live in Canada and I was wondering; if I purchase the french european version from an european online store in Europe, will I be able to play it?  Or is there some restriction network wise?  Meaning it'll know I'm coming from Canada and won't allow me to connect.  I would think not, it just might be a little laggy due to distance (though I am on the east coast).

Thanks!

A german member of the guild I am in wants to know a simaliar answer, can he use a german copy translated into English and use it on UK servers or would he have to buy a UK edition. So far no response from Blizzard nor Vivendi. I'd like to know the answer too.

Don't quote me on this but I'de imagine you need a European postal address to play on the European servers.

well. As europeans are not able to play on american servers without a valid american address and Credit card, i suppose it goes both ways and your friend needs a Valid European address (and a Credit Card linked to that address) to pay and play the game. He will also be restricted to play on the European servers, so with a whoopie 6-8 hours of difference.

    Have a nice day.

There will be no network restrictions.
The only problem is that French/German WoW games(sold in germany/frace) is in that language.
So if you buy WoW in Germany, you would get the game in german, and that will be a problem, since every name/quest/items/mobs will have different names.

Want to play with an European guild?!
Buy WoW with the language the guild is speaking(That is for German/France/English) If you are not one of those, buy the english version and play on the english servers!

THERE WILL BE NO NETWORK RESTRICTIONS!!!!!
PLAY WHERE YOU WANT TO PLAY!!!

    Cheers! I'm out ::::28::::

    you are partially wrong.

Yes, if you buy the Euro version (and manage to activate the account) you can play it from canada. Activating the account is the problem.

Blizzard said clearly that it would'nt be ANY network restrictions!
    Why don't we ask them?
    Only time will tell.
I recomend you to wait, and see if blizzard post somthing about it on the forums. If you can wait......
But I am 100% shure about what I said, atleast for now!...

Got friends playing here (NL) on US as well without any problems. So I don't see why a Canadian couldn't play on EU.

And the client you use determines the language. So if you got a german client you get german text on any server (English, German or French servers). The support however on another language server is in that language.. so do take notice that you gotta be able to speak german to the german GM ;)
