Originally posted by Kiamde I would like to start a small techno collection. I would like techno that I can game to and techno that sounds good. I don't really want rave, but trance is fine. The only techno artist I listen to is Scooter. Anything like Scooter's mixes would be great. Thanks, I am new to the genre.
I listen to Techno, (Techno will outlast "electro" LOL!) as well as everything else.......
Buy every albume by Crystal Method.
Buy every albume by Alice DJ.
Buy the soundtrack to the firstBlade movie.
Buy the sound tracks to the Matrix movies.
Buy the albume by Eiffel 65. (The one with the songs "I'm Blue", "Heaven")
Buy every albume by Moby.
Also check out Razor & Guido. Check out Rob Orbit. Absolutly check out The Chemical Brothers!
If there is a Virgin Megastore near you, they usually have a top 10 section for every type of music - inclucing Techno/Trance. You can listen to each albume for free, before buying it.
I don't listen to much techno anymore, but I used to listen to a ton. If you are looking for good trance stuff, I would recommend checking out the Global Underground series. I have bought about 4 of them and they have all been great. John Digweed and Paul Oakenfold are also really good. If you are looking to speed it up a bit check out dj micro. Just be careful about what you buy. I bought over 100 techno cds and after awhile it got very old and repetitive. Be sure to sample before buying. I still listen to the G.U. series, but thats about it.
